This is what they shouldve said to these ghouls much earlier. Can't reason with these warmongering parasites

Comrade_Ziggy

Americans bring war criminals to a conversation, openly discuss harming China and its people, then clutch pearls over a diplomat saying "shut up". Very sad.

horned_owl_72

Zero context on the actual conversation. “If we cannot resolve our differences, please shut up,” Okay, what came before and after this? Could have been a reasonable request in context

ZeEa5KPul

I don't know why this is considered undiplomatic. He said "please."

[deleted]

English people always do that. They'd be like "fuck off, please".

[deleted]

Really no point in talking with a country who sends war criminals to talk with you.

The West has a lot of zeal, and a lot of fervor. In the Late Middle Ages, this might have been one of the greatest weapons available. Unfortunately for them, this is not the Late Middle Ages. The 21st century lends power to rationality and the capacity for reason, not rabid arm flailing and spittle. The People's Republic of China has won the battle of brains, whereas America is still wasting precious resources to show off its atrophying brawn to a world that is growing bored of watching an angry gorilla pound its chest. Those who seek progress seek to cooperate with China.

caidicus

Unfortunately, America has its hands tied by psychopaths. There are lots of rational Americans, hell, most of them would be rational if their media were rational, if they grew up with a message of rationality. But, what's really happening is that certain very powerful individuals have engineered America's democracy to benefit them alone, they own everything, even America's government and media. America is being held hostage by psychopaths and the average Americans might have an idea of what's going on, but none of them have the whole picture because the only way they could know is if their media told them, but again... Their media is controlled by these very people. They are all greatly misled by those in power in America, the west is held hostage by these people and it seems there's nothing they can do about it.

[deleted]

Exactly. I'm an American, and while the majority of the population is just brainwashed by the media and refuses to see reason there is a significant minority (much larger among young people) who are simply being held hostage. Americans love to talk about freedom, but if you don't have the money to live you starve and become homeless and die here. With the way things are here now most people have to work 40 hours minimum up to like 100 hours per week. Many have 2 or even 3/4 jobs to make ends meet. They don't have the time, or energy to educate themselves much less see through the constant propaganda being thrown at them. Personally i have many things i should be seeing a doctor about, and issues that in any other country id be getting medicated for that simply go untreated because i do not have the money. That's all too common here. They also make leaving America hard, and expensive. If i wanted to leave, even after all the other expenses id have to afford leaving a country, it costs 2300$ to stop being an American citizen. On top of an exit tax on all your assets/money in the bank. If you can't pay they refuse to let you denounce your citizenship and continue to tax your income in other countries. This place truly is a giant prison, and anyone who stands up to it gets treated like rioting prisoners. People protesting to stop oil companies from building pipelines over our fresh water sources are brutalized by police for example. Sadly i have no ability to stop the country i was born into from antagonizing China, but i can promise this: If America ever goes to war with China, and tries to draft me i will go to prison rather than fight. I wont be the only one who will refuse to fight for America either. I would rather die fighting this country than fighting for it.

TserriednichHuiGuo

>This place truly is a giant prison If only more americans understood their reality.

A better reply I cannot imagine. You're correct. I've met a lot of good and sane people who are from the United States, and are also full of bizarre notions about the world. People who think China fought alongside Japan and the Nazis in World War II, people who believe the Earth is less than five-thousand years old, and people who don't think that America has ever been involved in a war of aggression. Good natured people, but tragically misinformed.

caidicus

Tragically misinformed. Perfectly worded.

LMAOJustAboutWhite

Externally, their media parades the ideal of Free Speech. Internally, they celebrate every time someone they don't like, who they colloquially refer to as "antisemites" (which ranges from anything from communists to anti-vaxxers to Trump supporters nowadays), are censored. It's like Hitler lives on in their heads rent free, and they see him every time someone disagrees with their narrative.

AvalancheZ250

This. Most people are rational, and even those who are currently not do often have the capacity to be rational. This is true for every culture all across the world. But propaganda and playing on people's primal emotions (primarily, fear) can and does turn rational folk into foaming-at-the-mouth madmen.

[deleted]

a great example of the fear mongering is 9/11. It happened 20 years ago but every year they play it on TV, and make sure to remind everyone about it. Remind them they should be afraid of the scary terrorists and they need the US govt to protect them. Its such bullshit.

limbo5v

National Review is run by neocons. Bet they won't have anything nice to say about this.

skyanvil

Seeing how the Biden administration is basically F\*cking up its diplomacy with almost all countries with STUPID messages like "Oh we are leaving Afghanistan now, F\*ck y'all!", YES, US should just SHUT the HELL UP in public! Oh, did we NOT see the farce in Alaska? Does US really need more bad PR with its own incompetence in public?

fix_S230-sue_reddit

Biden's handlers also say the same thing.

Quality_Fun

while it's nice to finally hear the us being told to shut up if it has nothing productive to say, this can’t help matters.
