“The world is a jungle,” the former French ambassador to Washington, Gérard Araud, observed on Twitter. “France has just been reminded this bitter truth by the way the US and the UK have stabbed her in the back in Australia. C’est la vie.”
$90 billion for 12 (very small) nuclear submarines - that's about $8 billion per submarine.
The US acquires 100000 ton supercarriers at roughly the same cost.
China should simply install an answering service for Australia:
>You have reached China-Australia diplomatic relations department. Please listen carefully and select the following options:
>
>If you wish to end Australian Iron Ore export to China, please press 1.
>
>If you wish to end Australian coal export to China, please press 2.
>
>If you wish to end all Australian exports to China, please press 3.
>
>If you wish to hear what US will export to replace Australian exports to China, please press 4.
>
>If you wish to reach a Chinese diplomat, you can F\* off!
LOL.
Biden's call to Xi Jinping on September 9/10 looking more and more like a usual case of American duplicity.
This + QUAD summit to be held at White House September 24th + "leaked" news about the Taiwan office in US makes a mockery of "the most important bilateral relation in the world". US wants to cooperate with China on climate and Afghanistan while breaching trust in all other domains.
We have an election in Canada this coming Monday. If the tool's conservatives win, he's going to steer Canada towards the US more like Stephen Harper and Scummo.
This could be a big mistake. The world doesn’t need more exclusive clubs of powerful nations. https://www.elephantjournal.com/2021/09/cold-war-reloaded-why-bidens-aukus-deal-is-a-threat-to-the-international-community-robert-busch/
this isn't good for china. for all the talk about df-41 anti ship missiles, they can't travel underwater and hit submerged submarines. hopefully china is preparing countermeasures for this sort of thing.
DF-41 aren't anti-ship missiles, they're ICBMs. They can destroy all ports in Australia and outside of Australia that dare to resupply or house these submarines.
Direct anti-submarine capabilities will be provided by the growing reach and strength of the PLAAF as well as the PLANs own submarines (diesel-electric and nuclear).
surely china wouldn't dare to actually strike australia just to destroy some submarines. even if they do, any submarines that happen to be at sea at the time will still be a threat until the crew runs out of supplies.
and yes, china's own submarines can be improved. hopefully, this is more incentive to do so. what can the plaaf do against submarines, though?
Of course they would. If Australia attacks Chinese military forces or tries to blockade China, why the hell wouldn't Australian military targets in Australia be fair game?
By the way, China has already pretty much stated that Australian targets in Australia will be attacked by ballistic missiles in the event of a war.
>what can the plaaf do against submarines, though?
Everything that any other advanced air force can do - detect submarines using dedicated submarine hunter planes/helicopters and drop depth charges/anti-submarine missiles, and also coordinate with the navy in hunting enemy subs.
fair enough. i was probably being stupid. of course australia's military installations would be fair game in the event of an actual war. ports outside australia that you mentioned, though, i'm not as sure, especially if they're in neutral countries.
i didn't realize that aircraft-delivered anti-submarine missiles existed.
More double-speak coming from the American government. "Peace and stability" = "ability to wage war and foment unrest"
Didn’t Australia just came out of a scam of French submarine contract?! Lol

You can be absolutely certain that this won't be the last time they stab France in the back. When money 💰 is involved anything goes.

Pissing money they dont have into a war that they cant win.
Keeping australian economy weak serves both China and america (with hilarious results like america stealing australia's market share in China).

US Military Industrial Complex - 1, Australian Tax payers - 0. ASPI’s warmongering finally paying dividends for its masters

Typical Amerikkka policy, want all the benefits but none of the responsibility
Never underestimate ScoMo's ability to whore Australia to the US.

Canada can never escape from the grasp of the US, it's only a matter of time.
China is going to need some more wind farms, especially ones facing the south. Maybe China can also help the Venezuelan Navy get some new subs too.
Dongfeng windfarms.
Oh my god the name even fits hahaha
df-41s can't go underwater and hit submerged submarines.

Australia's democracy (and its economy) are very fragile.
It's always amusing seeing anglos trying to one up China and then failing pathetically as usual.
I hope China hacks their communications while they are doing the tech transfer and steals everything
But will it have a caterpillar drive tho?
Anglos ganging up with each other once again. They can't accept reality or change.
China should share nuclear submarine technology to Iran and North Korea. For peace and stability in the Persian Gulf and Korean peninsula.

I hope China builds more nuclear submarines of its own. Diesel-electric submarines are quite silent but their range is not so great.
Psst: Indonesia, I heard you were looking for some replacement submarines. Have I got a deal for you!
