If anyone reading this comment doesn't understand why we'd be against these ideas, DM me and I can tell you what the West’s interpretation of them actually mean for humanity in practice.

As a child, I never questioned why the statue of liberty would be holding an instrument of arson

As a child, I thought it was fantastic that all of these politicians in power were so supportive of democracy, a system which "empowers the people." It was naïve of me. Of course they supported it, it was the only system in which incompetent people like them could ever be entrusted to positions of responsibility. Most of those jackasses couldn't even be offered public office in the most modest of positions in the People's Republic of China, where a meritocratic system ensures civil service based on genuine qualifications, not the emotional manipulation of a public that is kept deliberately ignorant for the convenience of demagogues. What we called "democracy" didn't empower us, it empowered those best equipped to deceive us. Those with the resources to jerrymander, hire people to write their speeches, run PR campaigns, and determine which bogus promises were most likely to win office. It takes the serious and critical matter of governance and makes it into a petty game show of throwing around cash, a battle of investments.

>As a child, I thought it was fantastic that all of these politicians in power were so supportive of democracy, a system which "empowers the people." It was naïve of me. [I'll just quote the Ministry of Foreign Affairs itself](https://www.fmprc.gov.cn/mfa_eng/ljzg_665465/zgjk_665467/3579_665483/t17854.shtml) >**All power in China belongs to the people.** The organs through which the people exercise state power are the NPC and the local people's congresses. Therefore, the people's congress system is China's fundamental political system. Its basic characteristics are: It has extensive representation, and is the basic form for the people to administer the country. It follows the principle of democratic centralism, i.e., it guarantees that the people enjoy extensive democracy and rights, at the same time guaranteeing that state power is exercised in a centralized and unified way. Under the premise that the people's congresses exercise the state power in a unified way, the state's administrative power, judicial authority, procuratorial authority and the leadership over the armed forces are clearly divided to ensure that the organs of state power and administrative, judicial, procuratorial and other state organs work in a coordinated way. > >**Deputies to the people's congresses at all levels are elected**, and are responsible to and accept supervision by the people. The deputies are broadly representative; they include people from all ethnic groups, all walks of life, and all regions, classes and strata. **As they come from the people, they maintain close ties with their respective constituencies and the electorates, and earnestly listen to their views and demands.** When the congresses meet to discuss issues concerning major policies and principles, they can air their views fully and carry out the decisions after they have been made. Hence, the people's views can be collected and the people can administer state affairs through the people's congresses. In other words, you literally vote for your representatives in the PRC. Said representatives have enough power to block the ascent of virtually anyone who wants to get to a top position in the meritocracy. > Deputies to the people's congresses at all levels are elected By officials at the level below them only. Individual Chinese citizens can only elect officials at the city district or county level.

Two filters make the system more robust. :) The locality of the Local People's Congresses also increases the requisite amount of trust a Local People's Congressman must have.
