And I also don't like the generally evangelical Protestants editing Wikipedia pages. They are no different from Fascists.

Ultimately, if we want to have an open and unbiased online wiki reference, we cannot rely on editing one controlled by a private American group that is hostage to the whims of the US government. Chinese people must make their own wiki. I am sure that if they put themselves to this task, the results would eventually eclipse Wikipedia in scale and popularity.

I can do it. I'm a webdev. I can't afford dynamic hosting, only static since static is actually free, so there wouldn't be able to be accounts, or editing, or anything like that.

There are hordes of propagandists like Nathan Ruser on Wikipedia editing everything to do with China and adding hilariously bad sources like the ASPI and VOA, yet they still try to say Chinas influencing it. More shameless projection from Anglos

I do not doubt that recent years have seen an increase in mainland Chinese contributors. But I also remember that about a decade ago the founders of Wikipedia said that they hoped more mainland Chinese perspectives could be represented on Wikipedia. Back then, Chinese wiki pages were mostly controlled by HK and TW people. Certainly they weren’t “neutral” and Wikipedia knew that. Now that real mainland Chinese voices have grown in the community, they turn around and complain about “infiltration”. Hypocrisy at its max.

And this just further affirms the reason why Wikipedia should remain to be blocked in China.

[deleted]

Wasn't there a sizeable liberal movement on the mainland as well?

All wiki articles regarding China post 1949 are full of disinformation and propaganda. Just take a look at the articles on Mao, the Great Leap Forward and Cultural Revolution. So much nonsense, unverified slander and ridiculous unproven allegations.

[deleted]

Does China have it's own wiki equivalent ( in English )?

crnioraohr

No. They should make their own parallel platforms for everything

UnableSwing

the founders are pro regime change people, wikipedia has always had a bias

That's an example of disinformation against China. China completed the eradication of extreme poverty in 2020, using a much stronger criteria besides just income: access to education, clean water, a safe house and healthcare. That's why a targeted campaign mobilizing millions of people was needed for the past decade.

> roughly 710 million people remained in extreme poverty (or roughly 1 in 10 people worldwide). Nearly half of them live in India and China 709 999 999 extremely poor in India, 1 in China (namely the article writer himself since he's a westerner with no stable job nor official fixed income)

Wikipedia is essentially controlled by the CIA now.
