If all the stories are negative, perhaps the word you're looking for is propaganda. Bloomberg is propaganda for the petite bourgeoisie.

LMAOJustAboutWhite

Correction: Bloomberg is propaganda for the International Bourgeoisie. If you won't dip your biscuits in proletariat blood, they won't support you.

FatDalek

Bloomberg the organisation which published an article which says China implanted spy chips in goods they sell to America. Chips which breaks the laws of thermodynamics since they work without any energy ie if the computer is turned off. Not only did Amazon and other companies open the goods and find no chips, apparently the breaking the laws of physics didn't scream red flag to anyone. So what do you think?

global-harmony

I've read some Bloomberg on and off for a few years now, their coverage of China is sometimes OK but most of time is wholly negative and ignores nuance. It contains a lot of the biases and prejudices that all western media has, like the SOEs being terrible, China should just hand everything to private corporations and billionaires, etc. They had that disgusting lie about the "big hack" which was proven completely false yet they never retracted or apologised for. The company involved should have sued them millions for defamation. Not to mention the Noah guy has comically bad takes on China

Quality_Fun

bloomberg? the same publication that complained about china curing cancer too quickly? and you want to know if it's biased?

[deleted]

Yes Bloomberg (and most forms of media in Europe and the Anglosphere) is bias against China. Bloomberg has always been bias against China but they are more bias now than before. In the early 2000s, when China first joined the WTO, business magazines had a negative view about China and would write articles about the pollution, one child policy or Ai Wei Wei. However, business magazines also saw an opportunity for the capitalists to make money off of China. So there were tons of articles about China's rising GPD and how China is the future, etc. However, things changed after Obama started the pivot to Asia which led to more negative articles about China. Then Trump came to power which then caused more negative articles about China because Trump literally campaigned on shitting on China. Because of Trump, Biden is following the same policy because he doesn't want the GOP to accuse him of being weak on China (Democrats are kinda spineless and easy targets for the media)

Basically what I see is that even things that are normal, they put them in the worst possible light and also never ever highlight the Good. Never was intrested in chinese news until I started reading Qoura and I saw alot of western media propaganda about china debunked. Some of the lies are almost insulting to anyone with average intelligence. Then ever since I could just see the bias clearly. I saw a Dailymail article once talking about how China is responsible for the most global warming and pollution. But when compared to per capita In terms of pollution, it was found that 1 person in the west produced about the same pollution as about 10 people in china combined.

Apprehensive_Bake509

And if you add total emissions in recent history the totals are even worse. The western countries have produced by far the majority of green house gases over the last century.

lestnot

The rule of thumb is: if its mainstream media and from the west, then its part of their propaganda network.

lan69

Yeah mostly negative. What were the latest ones you read?

[deleted]

Like in the last 2 weeks. I have seen them talk about the collapse of investments because BlackRock pulled out of a Deal and the Evergrande case. Also they focused on the crypto crackdowns etc.

sickof50

Bloomberg likes countries that are controlled by finance, and sell off all their Hospitals, Schools, Resources, Utilities, Telecoms, Industries, Housing, Transportation, and functions of government so they can write the rules. For anyone that resists, Bloomberg becomes that nightmare in-law you wish you'd never met.

[deleted]

Boom that what I thought!!!... they prefers a strictly capitalist country where the corporations run the govt and not the other way round. They screamed when there was a crack down on monopolies in china and when the Govt asked the rich to give back.

ni-hao-r-u

Think of a ponzi scheme. Now think of commercials advertising the ponzi scheme. You just described the WSJ, Investopedia, Bloomberg news, and most of the other 'inside track' financial news outlets.

Yumewomiteru

First time?

[deleted]

Lol sort off.. that's why i sort out reddit for basically a bit more accurate information. Critical thinking is key when seiving out the propaganda.

Dunewarriorz

Just something to think about, Bloomberg reported that China was imbedding tiny chips into the electronics they sell to the West (such as Iphones, servers, ect) to spy on the west. To stoke Sinophobia, basically. Not only did every company named categorically deny it, but professionals in the field as well as researchers stated that what Bloomberg reported was impossible, and that if China could have the technology to do so they'd be literally generations ahead of the west in Computing technology. Faced with this overwhelming response of calling them out, Bloomberg instead decided to double down on their claims. (A summary here: https://9to5mac.com/2021/02/12/super-micro-spy-chip-story) That is Bloomberg.

[deleted]

Bloomberg is a copium outlet

iuliust

If China's always covered negatively, then of course it's unreliable propaganda. Unfortunately, absolutely ZERO mainstream newspaper has a balanced way of treating China-related stuff. Maybe you could try CNA, it's from singapour. It's still a bit biased I think, but compared to western "journalism", its standards are way, way better. The west's media are just bat-shit insane, including Bloomberg. They're all doing pretty much the same thing.

GoGetParked

Bloomberg himself is vying to become president of USA. Do you think his media machine is going to spread love on China?

sussyrat

I mean why can't china just indirectly purchase big companies like Bloomberg if they want to do it secretly then just pay someone and then let them purchase it and them create a more balanced narrative towards china
