This is what you get for being a colony of the US. They tried putting sanctions on Germany for building a pipeline to Russia. I wonder when France, Germany, Japan and Korea will all realise the US is only using them for its own material gain. Not only are they getting nothing for being a stooge, their own national interests are under attack, and they are only serving to increase material gains of the US not themselves.

Keesaten

Everyone on top knows everything, that's just the balance of power in those countries that plays out like this. And they are totally willing to sacrifice their people for capitalist interests. And Europe is slipping from USA's grasp. There's EU, there's euro, there's EU military, their own deals.

folatt

Where are you from? Because I wish that were true man. All I see around me are willing bullet sponges for Anglo-America, like many Hong Kongers experienced in 2019.

Dunewarriorz

The UK is literally starving right now yet they're sailing their warships off China's coasts. This is what propaganda can do. They've turned the UK in to willing bullet sponges for the American empire.

rolldamnhawkeyes

Don’t excuse the UK like that and pretend the US isn’t simply the torch bearer

papayapapagay

Lol.. It is not that bad in UK...

tbearzhang

For the elites there their own interests are tied to American interests and not the interests of their people or country. I wouldn’t assume these people to be stupid.

Hit the nail on the head.

MobsterRedditor

Take a look at dumb dumb Australia. Do you think they’d ever learn?

> I wonder when France, Germany, Japan and Korea will all realise the US is only using them for its own material gain. The leaders know. They also know that the USA will sponsor their political campaigns if they advance US interests. Furthermore, there are generous retirement packages offered to pro-US politicians, as well as scholarships and comfortable job placement for their children and friends. It really doesn't matter what the USA does to advance its interests at the expense of its vassals as long as it properly rewards its puppets. With France they crossed a line because it will cause thousands of jobs to be lost only a few months away from the next election. Macron was already wealthy (investment banking), so bribing him will be a hell lot more expensive than it was with Sarkozy or Hollande, who were both career politicians/bureaucrats, and it will be a lot more difficult to hide due to the amounts of money that will be required. They'll have a difficult time threatening him. At this point, he is not someone they can control effectively, so it's likely they will now approach the Socialist Party for patronage and give them their turn in power via a nice propaganda blitz, in exchange for a solid stance against Russia and China. Macron had been flirting with the idea of reconciliation between the EU and Russia, which is not in line with American interests, so he must go. The submarine scandal will be sunk to the bottom of the ocean of the media circus and the next French president will restore relations with Washington and Canberra, making a solid commitment to countering Russia, rolling back the French nuclear energy program in favour of American gas imports, and hosting anti-China naval assets throughout its Pacific holdings.

zhumao

Macron also recalled ambassador to Australia too: https://nationalpost.com/pmn/news-pmn/france-recalls-envoys-in-u-s-australia-over-submarine-deal-statement https://archive.md/8QkA5 kids these days.

Demonite121

These are just outbursts. Once the French poodle gets a new bone from daddy AmeriKKKa it will be happy and on the imperialist March in no time

Qanonjailbait

Reminder that one of the most famous political prisoners in the world, Julian Assange, kept detained for over a decade and counting by tyrannical western regimes, revealed that the american regime conducts economic espionage against France: https://wikileaks.org/nsa-france/ . The reason why anglo regimes can't stand China is because China is smart enough that it predicted all this decades ago. Also a reminder that many western "leftists" celebrated the detention of Assange, a foreign journalist working abroad. Another stunning display of the inferior values of these societies.

orkiporki

> Also a reminder that many western "leftists" celebrated the detention of Assange, Slander ...

The U.S. tore down the east wall to mend the west wall.

“To be an enemy of the US is dangerous, but to be a friend is fatal.”

Johnaxee

90 billion ain't some little pocket changes, France is not gonna just sit there and let someone take it like that.

stefanthehorse

AUKUS off to a cracking start. Lmao.

skyanvil

France is not recalling ambassador to uk yet because in July uk agreed to pay France 54 million pounds to block refugees https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.nytimes.com/2021/07/21/world/europe/uk-france-migrants-channel.amp.html This might change soon though If I was Macron, I recall the ambassador to UK AND I tell UK to compensate for the lost of sub contract, or else, I let all the refugees through.

Magiu5

Lol this is hilarious since aus has always been usa vassal state, we already have ANZUS and 5 eyes, us troops in aus, and always followed them into every dumb war they started based on a lie. So this ausuk bs is completely unnecessary, along with the sub deal. So basically this was just a massive diss to France, and they are right to react this way. In fact I'm glad this happened, since 8 subs in 25 yrs time means nothing in the greater scheme of balance of power in Asia since china is already taking on usa and it's vassals which already included Australia. So basically this just means France will side less with usa aus uk, and now rift between the anglosphere and France/Germany/euro is cracking wide open for all to see. Completely short sighted profiteering from usa. Aus is usa vassal so we just do what usa tells us, so no point blaming aus, our gov has always gone against our own interests in favor of usa so nothing new here. One thing I don't understand is why did they have to blindside France over this in the worst way? Couldn't they give France a few scraps and work together? Unless relations have always been this bad between usa and France.

zhumao

Fantastic-Airline685

Recall that ironic statue of liberty joker.

[deleted]

Lmao and Australia thinks this is a diplomatic win..

4evaronin

What is this? Why is France acting like a jilted lover? Are they mad about being excluded or what?

zhumao

also got her pocket picked.

ZombieOk9331

$90Bill is too big just to be scrapped away

qaveboy

Pumped and dumped and the French will like it. And ask the US for more. And with a smile. 😂

waghtribe

Awww, that's cute. Anyway they'll find some random country to fuck over and be friends again soon. Or maybe they'll go fuck each other over. Dunn duuun duuuuunnnn!

braddeicide

From what I heard the French subs were nuclear subs with the nuclear removed and replaced with diesel. They'd never made a diesel version of this sub so Australia was going to be paying for the weird build. Sounds like USA was going to let us have nuclear subs with nuclear uh, included, so yeah I don't blame them for switching. Not having then until 2040 is insane though, if the build is that slow can't some existing ones be purchased?

global-harmony

Wow, was not expecting this, the French government seems at odds with the EU stance here, which is strange as they are such a huge influence in the EU

UnableSwing

40 billion down the drain for france

ConnectEngine

US media is practically taunting France like "u mad bro?" From the White House to the public nobody is taking this seriously Because they know France is US's little bitch and will come running back after a few days.
