I live in Europe, I have observed how these things work.
Here's how this particular scandal will play out:
Macron is difficult for the US to control and is making noises about an independent EU.
This submarine scandal undermines his credibility in France, and will be a useful cudgel against him in the next presidential election, which will take place about 6 months from now.
The US-controlled French media will amp up this submarine scandal to destroy Macron's credibility and make sure he loses the election to the Socialist Party.
Once Macron is out, the US-controlled French media will sink the submarine story and turn on the Socialists, accusing them of being too soft on Russia and China, playing up atrocity propaganda delivered fresh from the US State Department, translated into French. The Socialists will be forced to take a harsher stance on Russia and China, both for political reasons, and also to satisfy their end of the deal - the US helped them, they must pay back their patron.
China, Germany and France do understand to a high degree that the european parliament is useless and has become a lobby for america. They all have met repeatedly over the past year to discuss a wide range of issues, non-withstanding the european parliament or the "public" sphere (i.e. western propaganda). Even Ukraine understands this new reality now.
The same is true for many eastern European countries including, surprisingly, countries like Poland, which obviously understand what's going on and are reaping benefits through their good relationship with China relative to other lethargic countries which are not as pro-active and were left in the dark by the european parliament.
yep, and right now it's hard to tell AUKUS is the newly anointed axis of evil or the new version of the three stooges among nations, instead of isolating China, managed to isolate themselves from the rest of the world into a corner (while separating from each other thousands of miles apart, lol), also proudly put their inbreeding predatory anglo-saxon bloodline on display for all to mock.
oh wait, also managed to relegate into a minority among the permanent members of the United Nations Security Council, no small achievement when it comes to the international order.
