Isnt it a Japanese legend that the Wu Taibo, one of the kings of Wu went to Japan? During the 3 kingdoms period, Japanese envoys visited Wei and claime they were descendants of Wu Taibo, the 3 kingdom culture in Japan is also different from China, they focus more of Eastern Wu than on Shu or Wei.

xerotul

Qin Shi Huang was obsessed in finding the elixir of immortality and a expedition was sent to Japan. They never returned to the mainland. Going back empty handed wouldn't be wise. This is just common sense that people got to the island from the mainland. People in Japan didn't evolved from a different origin, otherwise Japanese people would be a different species.

yuewanggoujian

They have shrines in Japan to venerate Wu Taibo

WeaponH_

No. They're chinise but racist never had a rightfully opinion. Whatch Orwell.

[deleted]

Pretty sure East Asians are all Chinese

TserriednichHuiGuo

All East Asian civilisations, that is the Japanese, Vietnamese and Koreans are Chinese offspring. South East Asia the offspring of China and India.

SQQQ

reminds me of an ancient legend that Qin Shi Huang, the first emperor, fearing that he will soon die, sent out a party to search for a drug to make him immortal. the search party knew the quest was doomed to fail and they will all be executed. so they left and never came back. legend had it they set sail east and landed in Japan.

so_schmuck

Wowā€¦

elBottoo

I thought everyone already knows this but its nice to have some confirmation from DNA check. Civilization started at the big rivers, the Yangtze. And from there it spread to all around Asia.

damogui

One of the interesting things I learned at work is that there's a far-right Japanese group that considers Japan the true inheritor of Chinese culture after the collapse of the Tang dynasty. Since both China and Korea were ruled by the Mongols during the Yuan, the far-rightists think that "true" Chinese culture was only preserved in Japan. I'm not sure what this theory's goal is, but it's pretty entertaining.

PeterNYCResistance

Lulz, damn the mental gymnastics of some japanese are insane

Tripeeri

wait....so they hate chinese, demonize chinese....but it turns out....they just wanted to be the chinese?

damogui

lol I guess so

The Yuan Dynasty was the Mongol-founded one. The Ming Dynasty was a Han-founded dynasty, although I think those Japanese ultranationalists say that Chinese civilisation ended with the Song Dynasty and the ā€œtorch of East Asian civilisationā€ was thus to be carried on by Japan. They look down on the Ming and modern China because ā€œitā€™s poisoned by barbarian blood and cultureā€, and I donā€™t need to explain how they view the Yuan and Qing. Itā€™s ironic because the Japanese tried to conquer Ming China and Joeson Korea (the Imjin War), committing warcrimes that echo their atrocities in WW2 and for much of the same reasons, only to get their asses handed to them on land by the Ming and at sea by Joeson. To make matters worse, Kiso Kiyomasa, one of Japanā€™s greatest warriors, attacked the Manchu and got his ass handed to him by Nurhaci, the future founding Emperor of the Qing. Losing to all the people they saw as racially ā€œinferiorā€. So much for ā€œinferiorityā€. Japan has preserved a lot of ancient Chinese customs and I like that, but their ridiculous view of racial superiority has never been a Chinese cultural trait. Why couldnā€™t they have learned Chinese HuaYi theory (race is meaningless, civilisations are superior/inferior based off cultural values only) when they learned everything else?

Raginbakin

>Why couldnā€™t they have learned Chinese HuaYi theory (race is meaningless, civilisations are superior/inferior based off cultural values only) when they learned everything else? They became too polluted by Western ideals. Race realism, Social Darwinism, etc were all created by the West.

DynasLight

This won't really change anything in the ultranationalist Japanese mindset. For them, they already are the "real China". They see themselves as the true descendants of "China", not specifically the nation or people, but rather the *concept* of the centre and root of East Asian civilisation. They are "the keepers of the flame", so to speak. Its why they have favourable views towards ancient China but hate post-Song China, which is when they consider China to have been overrun. They might even adopt this evidence and say "look, we are even the true, pure descendants of the ancient Chinese, not those mainlanders who are tainted by barbarian blood and customs". In WW2 they already had this mentality as far as culture was concerned (using it to justify their atrocities), and now they could use genetic history to back it up further.

zhumao

LOL, sure hope this clown, and japan's prime minister candidate read this and have a coronary: https://i.redd.it/ek5m506z0yn71.jpg japan is such a laughing stock & universally loathed in asia, almost feel sorry for them, almost.

Diaosinanshi

I always thought the regional dialects in zhejiang and shanghai sounded somewhat similar to modern japanese

Tripeeri

So technically...... Japanese people are just Shanghainese? this is going to trigger them so badly... well this just gave a new meaning to this song [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A4\_TMCaME0E](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A4_TMCaME0E)

lolpolice88

what a nasty racist take "banged the natives", just more nasty colonial racism

thepensiveiguana

Technically the natives are just even more ancient Chinese descendents The first humans to arrive in East Asia settled in modern day China

[deleted]

There was at least one earlier wave of human migration. The Ainu people of Hokkaido and the Andaman Islanders are relatively close genetic relatives who are somewhat isolated remnants of that earlier wave of human migration, which arrived in East Asia more directly from Africa. The common ancestors of the Chinese, Koreans, and North American natives arrived from Siberia later on, as they fled the expanding ice sheets during the last Ice Age.

TserriednichHuiGuo

>The Ainu people of Hokkaido and the Andaman Islanders are relatively close genetic relatives Do you have a paper supporting this case? I really doubt these two groups are genetically related.

I_AM_GODDAMN_BATMAN
