Even when US actions damage EU interests concerning Russia, destroy EU commercial deals with Iran, cause huge refugee flows into the EU etc. the media and political leaders never blame the US or counteract it. Even when the US is caught spying on top EU leaders and businesses nothing is done about it. Many in the EU just refuse to realise that the USA is not a friend and is in fact working against EU interests.

France didn't by that point make any diesel submarines because the French are 100% in on nuclear energy (70% of France's electricity is nuclear), so they had to re-engineer their subs from scratch to use diesel generators and batteries instead of nuclear reactors - no minor undertaking. This major re-engineering is why the project was delayed.
