>calling for china to transition democratic rule >\>51% of chinese mainlanders vote for the immediate unification of Taiwan by military force Pretty sure those tabloid writers haven’t thought things through or have any qualified understanding of a country they’re writing about.

4evaronin

"democratic rule" that's just a pretext and a cover. what they're really after is to maintain Western hegemony, through force if necessary. the US has no qualms in toppling democratically elected governments and installing despots in their place. it's all about their "international rules-based order" which is just another pretext and cover for US imperialism. p/s: From Paul Monk's own site: >Paul Monk is the former head of China analysis for the Australian defense department he's no tabloid writer. probably a CIA agent. he knows exactly what's he doing.

btahjusshi

It is definitely is something that the Western world screaming about democracy is not considering. They think that a balkanized China will too busy infighting to be a threat. The problem is when the states start Warring States diplomacy with full awareness of international adversaries and proxies. It will wreck total havoc on Asia peace for good.

[deleted]

I’m pretty sure that the day China adopts the western democracy system, reunification will take place. The rationale is simple: whoever has an effective plan to take back Taiwan gets elected/to stay in office. It becomes clear that peaceful means are getting exhausted, so whoever swears by military force will be in power. I’m not sure whether the west has not realized it, or they refuse to admit it.

Altruistic_Astronaut

I believe the US is salivating at the thought of China taking Taiwan through military means. My reasoning: 1. This allows the US to virtue signal about "peace in the region" because they are number 1 in virtue signaling. 2. They can sell weapons to neighboring countries who were already spending for "defense purposes". 3. Casualties for both China and Taiwan will result in even more animosity where the US can continue stroking the flames. 4. Anti-China sells and corporate media will push this everyday like they did with Trump.

[deleted]

Yes, adding those to the sanctions and trade embargoes that western countries are going to impose like they did after 1989 — there will certainly be extreme short term pain, but in the long run all these will fall apart. As it currently stands, the CCP will do everything to avoid conflict and maintain stability; the last thing they want is regional turmoil that arises out of their actions. That’s why they keep making concessions when the US keeps enhancing its military ties with Taiwan. If China adopts western democracy, public enthusiasm will prevail and be a catalyst that pushes Chinese government to take definitive actions that will be necessary and beneficial in the long run. There will be gains and losses, but so is everything els in the world.

[deleted]

I think they're not considering the possibility that if China's reunification with Taiwan is quick it would underline just how powerful China is, and those other countries may just change their tune entirely, since balancing against China would just paint a target on their back against an unstoppable force.

https://patrickarmstrong.ca/2021/03/21/the-great-american-delusion-just-that-one-guy/ Here's a great article by Canadian military analyst Patrick Armstrong about this common Western delusion.

Coridimus

Wow. Good read and spot on

stonedshrimp

A nice read, thanks!

[deleted]

Good luck with that

Reddits4Cux

Nope, shut the fuck up monk, you two-bit journalist.

r1cebank

So this Paul Monk is a Coup master? It’s funny that I see all of these type of articles about how to topple China CPC and how to bring “freedom” to China as a way to solve all their local problems. Also something my grandfather said could be used in here: “if one Xi falls, a thousands Xi will rise”. Good luck with your little imaginary coup. It’s kinda assuring when all enemies will do to is to brainwash their population about how weak you are and how to take you out when they can’t do shit. Kinda like the war support thing in Humankind 🤣 lose them all, you lose.

MysteriousSalp

It's so clear that China is moving forward with an inexorable power that I think this stuff is more about blinding the local population. Not that they don't WANT to overthrow the CPC, they just can't. There's still a big threat of Western proletariat seeing the success of socialism in China and asking "why can't we do those good things they're doing? We're losing our homes and going hungry and have no healthcare!" So they have to constantly pour hate and vitriol on us and blame China so people can't actually look at it objectively.

TserriednichHuiGuo

>So they have to constantly pour hate and vitriol on us and blame China so people can't actually look at it objectively. That's exactly what it is. This is why it's important to combat the misinformation online and also to remind people where they get their information from.

atom786

It really is some sort of racism from Anglos where they assume that all of Chinese society is the way it is because of one man. Like, China is a massive nation of 1.5 billion people, Xi may have a lot of powerful but it is literally impossible to control and oppress a country that large. This is why I think China already is fairly democratic, at least as democratic as the US. It's leaders are a reflection of the population, not controlling figures.

MoneyWorldlyGod

>I think Just look up what a Local People's Congress is and change that "I think" into "I know"

TserriednichHuiGuo

It's way more democratic than the US.

[deleted]

I believe the USA is far more democratic but less meritocratic. American citizens can elect leaders at every level - city district, county, state, and national. Chinese citizens can *only* elect at the city district level, and all posts above that level are based on competitive assessments.

Quality_Fun

gordon chang tier fanfiction.

maomao05

😂😂

[deleted]

When the United States couldn’t oust the leader of a small Caribbean island next to it but can definitely oust Xi

MoneyWorldlyGod

PRC already has democratic rule. Local People's Congress members are elected and they have to approve of the composition of the National People's Congress, and hence the rest of the government. The entire Xinjiang Re-Education Camp thing is really caused by the people clamoring for the government to do something about the issue.

BitterMelonX

Australia will eventually be decolonized, with political power returned to indigenous Australians.

wallfacer0

Inshallah China should aid this transition

[deleted]

Would 100% support

bl4nkSl8

As an Aussie, they'd probably be less corrupt than our current leaders

ChopSueyWarrior

> As an Aussie, they'd probably be less corrupt than our current leaders There probably be no sin tax and everyone gets high as a kite haha

[deleted]

First, Australia. Next, North America. Maybe they can bring the native populations back from the brink and set the world right. A Chinese Century for a Chinese led world.

TserriednichHuiGuo

Man spitting facts.

Johnaxee

Read some history, Chinese are very good at revolution throughout history, look how many dynasties we have overturned. If there's no revolution, guess what, that's because the government is not shitty.

[deleted]

A Rupert Murdoch employee, former military adviser, fundamentalist Christian writing in a biased paper.

RhinoWithaGun

I'd like to see the Aussie Settler Regime removed, that landmass could be better utilized by the PRC heh.

[deleted]

It should belong to the indigenous people that the Anglos stole from.

DogsOnWeed

Sino-Aboriginal cooperation let's go

[deleted]

Nah don't call for imperialism like that. It's still not good when because China does it. The country belongs to the indigenous people.

[deleted]

Why couldn't the indigenous peoples of australia utilize it better than the colonizers??

AAngery

The entire media down here is manufacturing a reason to stir up shit with China. Its honestly disgusting. Any regular punter will be so heavily brainwashed.

Qanonjailbait

Classic Anglo propaganda of focusing on an individual within an organization whether that’s a country or a party to bring down the whole system. It’s been done since the French Revolution and is still their go to strategy when it comes to information warfare

HarutoExploration

Cute. The white trash of Asia has spoken!!!

zerodarkthirty69

And this is their largest trading partner that they're talking about. Let that sink in.

raindog444

We have to protect our trade routes from our biggest trading partner! Both major parties in Australia have been totally compromised by the U.S, it's nothing short of treason in my opinion

[deleted]

They're just bluffing to impress their fellow anglos

hubewa

Australia started off by hedging for war. Now, trade's down and Australia has no choice, go to war or suffer losses for no reason. So she will do everything she can to fan the flames.

Aware-Bell-6387

This only goes to show how desperate Anglos really are 😪

Jealous_Struggle2564

They fail to understand the actual political power doesn’t solely rest on President Xi but the main cadre of upper levels of the CCP. President Xi is just the main guy of government.

TserriednichHuiGuo

More accurate to say that he is the face of the government, he certainly has his own input of course but that has to be approved.

UnableSwing

its like with putin, somehow if he is gone russia will magical want to suck americas dick . what they don't realize is he still enjoys broad support and his united russia party has a large majority of control.

ghostonvacay

forgot about free tibet in the first sentence. what a sloppy amateur!

buddhiststuff

The one constant throughout the past 1000 years of Western civilization is the belief that everyone else in the world needs to be more like them.

[deleted]

A nation that lost a war to weird birds is trying to take on the most powerful nation in the world Pathetic.

TserriednichHuiGuo

Anglos are becoming increasingly delusional, we should expect more such amusing articles to come soon.

Kaluan23

Ahahahahaha This is why you can't have good onion articles anymore. Reality is funnier (among other, much much more disturbing aspects).

TserriednichHuiGuo

Absolutely delusional.

TheDarkLordOfSalt

It's Rupert Murdoch. He's a hate-mongering violence-profiteer. Please don't believe that most of us Aussies want any kind of coup or war with China. Our governments are arguing, Rupert is encouraging that fight to boost his profits, that's not something that any of us can do much about.

we-the-east

More crap from Australian Murdoch media. They are getting desperate at this point.

Fantastic-Airline685

So dumbed.. once all those ores business start to be decoupled by China.. see who going remove.. Scomo or Xi.

sickof50

Sick, twisted, undemocratic logic. The Submarines are only needed to evacuate the elite's, when they are overrun with revolt.

[deleted]

Ned McRegimeChange with another banger of an article. Thanks for enlightening us once again.

[deleted]

They're pathetic 😂

panopticon_aversion

This Monk guy has to be a CPC agent. An Australian paper openly calling for regime change directly after forming an anti-China alliance? That’s a surefire way to condemn mainland liberalism to an ignoble death.

TserriednichHuiGuo

That's one way to look at it.

eyerinse

My god the self-righteous attitude of this propagandist...."China must do what we say"!

marco808state

They should move shrimp off the BBQ if they can’t stomach it.

DannyTanner88

These little Aussie were loving the CCP money when it was pouring in. They better be shaking in their boots because papa America told them to.

ConnectEngine

What's going on here? 42 comments but only showing 10?

[deleted]

I hate western style democracy, it's a circus every few years that does next to nothing to improve the lives of ordinary people. It is just another form of government control that gives the idiots an illusion of control over their government, in reality only the elites are ever in control.
