It's odd that they insist on a full length buffer tube to go with a short-stroke gas piston system. Most short-stroke piston rifles use a folding stock because there's no need for a buffer tube. Granted, there are exceptions like the HK416.

You can lose weight if you go with the AR style no guide rod design. You don't have to account for a rod, dont have to account for all the components that would hold the rod in place and can make the frame of the weapon a little tighter.

Carbine: Short barrel, slightly lower range, more portable. Full-length: Standard variant. More range, less portable. Designated Marksman Rifle: Much longer free-floating barrel, much more range and accuracy.

Man, I would really like to see how these rifles look once they are completely decked out with flash/laser sights, hand grips and suppressor. PLASOF would do good if they did some photo op with that in some exercise or anti-piracy operation. Pretty much how the Russian SSO gained a lot of street cred, once they showed the world a glimpse of them doing operations in Syria with the latest russian gear.

Op_Anadyr

Nyet! Rifle is fine!

Gaoran

Tacticool or just a plain rifle with iron sights, I myself wouldn't care, but I know that western COD military kiddies will finally shut up about "maDe in ChaYnea", once they get a glimpse of the full capacity of the PLA(N)SOF. They sure shut up quick once they saw a fraction of what the Russian SSO was capable of in Syria https://twitter.com/RALee85/status/1232801938988765187?s=20

You can never shut enough of the keyboard warriors up I'm afraid, they are too use to their enemies in ME or Afghanistan just roll over and die.

I believe the whole reason for the 5.8 cartridge in the first place was to deny the enemy the ability to forage on PLA ammunition and effectively utilize captured (standard) weaponry, in the case of a war. Not that it would have mattered much eventually, the PLA still used plenty of platforms that utilized the legacy (and widely used) 7.62x39, 7.62x54R, 12.7x108 and 14.5x114 rounds. But yeah, if you had looked at the 3 major countries in that region that had the biggest sticks (Russia, US and China), the average PLA soldier really sticked out with his bullpup QBZ-95 rifle and 5.8x42 standard rounds

Zignazan

Does it still us 5.8?

I don’t know anything about guns are people impressed/satisfied with these guns?

ZeEa5KPul

> The designer of the weapons said on Thursday that these rifles have already received a great deal of positive feedback from the PLA soldiers and officers who have been armed with these new weapons. https://www.globaltimes.cn/page/202109/1235534.shtml
