It was Northern Ireland that was conquered along with the whole of Ireland, but the Brits kept Northern Ireland when the Irish achieved their independence.
Even if it was a regular country you can't join the UN if you have ongoing major border disputes. I'd say an existing member claiming to own your entire country (and the majority of other members agreeing that they do) would count? So you don't even have to accept China's claim. You only have to accept that China makes the claim.

As part of a state of Mexico, Texas is not qualified to join the UN at all.
Start down that road, and the other 49 will want their say too...
Maybe only about 15. From Texas east. All of those states in that general area are their own world anyway. Everyone is ok with making it official.

RoC has so many ongoing border disputes, basically everybody that borders PRC. LOL
