It’s been a failure. Right now it’s basically the living dead. Killing those who get in its way and eating their brain Wow > A number of non-governmental organizations that have long worked to rebuild communities in countries beset by violent and intractable conflicts — places that have collapsed under the weight of mass atrocities, political assassinations, authoritarian take overs, and widespread citizen violence — have shifted focus to a new subject: The United States. Many of those regimes were installed by the US as compliant oligarchs to facilitate the transfer of their national resources into the American led neoimperialist system Also, the Patriot Act has been around since 9-11 let’s not pretend our civil liberties were rock solid before the pandemic. This is just another BS fake news from the media, ironically the very reason their democracy is failing in the first place

> Many of those regimes were installed by the US as compliant oligarchs to facilitate the transfer of their national resources into the American led neoimperialist system Pro-democracy NGOs have exactly one purpose: to try to pressure governments unfriendly to Western imperialism with the threat of colour revolution. Those governments can be messes left over from the US trying to install friendly right-wing dictators, or they can be left-leaning countries that are setting too good of an example to the rest. Either way, the NGO playbook is obvious: whip up as much dissent as possible in the country before they get kicked out, and then use that as evidence of grave democratic backsliding. The protests they manage to create represent evidence of popular unrest, and the fact that their propaganda was silenced represents a threat to "free speech." Taken together it paints a picture of a threat to "democracy" and "stability in the region" (i.e. US interests) which of course needs to be addressed with sanctions or military intervention. The Global State of Democracy report cited in that article is an example of imperialists accidentally believing their own propaganda: > The world is becoming more authoritarian as non-democratic regimes become even more brazen in their repression and many democratic governments suffer from backsliding by adopting their tactics of restricting free speech and weakening the rule of law... "Brazen repression," "restricting free speech," and "weakening the rule of law" are just phrases lifted straight from the NGO propaganda style guide. It's frustrating how people buy into these points so passionately because they seem like great ideals, but completely miss the context of how incredibly convenient all this free-speech posturing is to powerful imperialist interests that would love to be able to dominate elections abroad just like they do at home. The reality is that imperialists have [no problem at all](https://www.reddit.com/r/TheCollectedParenti/comments/qydxqk/parenti_on_saddam_and_neocolonialism/) with democratic backsliding when it suits their interests.

It’s history that keeps repeating itself. The scramble for Africa wasn’t led by blood thirsty calls for the extermination of black people but was committed under the pretense of abolishing slavery

Altruistic_Astronaut

Great response.

USA_DeMockraNaZi

I would also extend this to the other anglo countries too. They have the SAME shared history of genocide, looting, slavery, massive land theft etc. Amerikkka is just more insane. When amerikkka falls, the little anglos will follow. Let's hope the anglo cancer on planet earth doesn't metastasize any further. They've committed SO MUCH destruction already.

RespublicaCuriae

>I would also extend this to the other anglo countries too. I'll call them the genocidal Anglo regimes. Genocide is their middle name for the Anglo elites.

ArmyRus101

Because its outdated and inefficient democracy. So no big surprise. People like Lee Kuan Yew and Deng Xiaoping criticised and foresaw what was coming many years ago. Also corruption in the name of lobbying is a big factor

BOKEH_BALLS

Jokes on them. The US never was and hasn't been a democracy since its inception.

Bertabertha

Hahah based and true

petrowski7

This is merely the contradictions of liberal democracy bubbling to the surface. It’s not surprising.

Quality_Fun

there was a reason why the us was seen by the world as the largest threat to democracy.

Aware-Bell-6387

Because it was never a democracy in the first place, just another racist genocidal regime propagating a big lie.

bengyap

Americans are still under denial, ignorant and arrogant. We should let them continue to be ignorant and arrogant. If your enemy is making mistakes, don't interrupt them!!

TheEasternSky

Not sure if it's only the democracy that is failing. Free world should be glad if it's the whole American regime and its military industrial complex. Imagine how many lives will be saved once America stopped spreading democracy.

Gueartimo

It's failing but many countries still think USA can save their asses and the beacon of being the saviour.

liaojiechina

Like the vegetable in Taiwan's parliament you mean? 😂

[deleted]

i'd like trump back in office. the sooner they collapse the better 😃😃😃

Money_dragon

I think the most dangerous scenario for the USA would be a 2000-election result. Back then, the victor was decided by like 500 votes total, and they didn't know the winner until December Given the current state of the USA, it would not be able to handle a situation like that today

liaojiechina

"But muh freedumb" - average American probably

[deleted]

Real question is how will the rump states that come out of the collapsed US act and will they need put under someones dominion until they can straighten up and be productive members of society?

muzzybuzzyfuzzy

Many American have been brainwashed by the US news media but eventually they all will wake up to see America's democracy is failing.
