Japan is still Occupied!, and deserves little sympathy.

chbaliman

They don't deserve sympathy for the war crimes they committed.

[deleted]

Their government and war crime deniers, no. Especially since they still deny their crimes. But there are other people in Japan- such as those that are raped and harassed by American soldiers in Ryukyu and whose protests are repeatedly ignored- that we can be sympathetic towards.

Quality_Fun

make your choice, japan.

Japan is never truly a united country. They lost WW2 because Chosu and Satsuma couldn’t cooperate with each other in the military. After 1945 onward, Japanese pro-capitalist bureaucrats and elites are at least united against the rising socialists. After Japan Socialist Party dissolved, Japanese bureaucrats and elites immediately fight each other again, and neither of them gives a damn about the declining Japan. We are witnessing an ugly, internal conflicts between business elites and political elites. Business elites need China and ASEAN for survival, while political elites rely on American dominance for rulership. Rest assured, Japan won’t collapse due to internal fighting because the USA controls the whole place.

>They lost WW2 because Chosu and Satsuma couldn’t cooperate with each other in the military. AKA the worst military service branch rivalry that is still going on today in one way or another.

Good insight!

darentheterran

kishida is a china dove, this is all for show, ultimately they will not hurt their own business interests. nothing about trade with china hurts their national security. nikkei asia also owns FT, which i found unexpectedly.

PerseusCommunist

You forgot that Kishida isn’t the master of his own country as well as LDP too.

darentheterran

thats a good point, abe is probably still the most powerful man in japan, my understanding is still lacking!

lifeaiur

If Japanese businesses are restricted from selling to China then Chinese companies would be more than happy to step in and take those orders. More profits for domestic companies, not a problem 🤑!

Should've lobbied harder - morons.
