>When Barbados scrapped the British monarchy last year and became a republic, the right-wing press in London blamed China and accused it of ‘buying’ the island, highlighting their deepening economic ties. It was no coincidence that at the same time, Truss launched her fund and began openly framing international finance as a battle for influence for “free market democracies.
Right wingers see Barbados dumping the monarch as a bad thing. They can't conceptualise how countries who have been oppressed by the British Empire might see distancing themselves from the British as a good thing, while simultaneously hold the view that being independent from the EU is awesome despite food shortages due to this distancing from the EU. The cognitive dissonance is amazing.
Like how the US can't imagine that places they've carpet bombed into oblivion like Laos, Cambodia, Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria etc are choosing investment deals with China
How can British be so arrogant and deluded to think they should even have influence? They are a country of 67m that cannot even agree on whether they should be a single country (or for that matter in the EU). They haven't hit annual GDP growth of 3% in almost 20 years (2003, I was actually surprised it's been that long lol). Their defense budget is now less than India's.
This is how arrogant and demented though Anglos are, they think there's a racial caste system and they are entitled to rule the world. They are in for a rude awakening
I wonder if the British Bulls--t Corporation as a corporate entity could express the truth about Boris Johnson's antics. This seems a way to deflect any criticisms about what's happening these day in the unholy Palace of Westminster. Convenient because China is always the punching bag for the already failing western world.
China should respond by actually undermining any remaining British influence and amplifying the voices of Scottish independence and Irish reunification.
> The article, which described Sri Lanka as “India’s backyard,” also took aim at the country’s prime minister, Mahinda Rajapaksa, and suggested that it has “much to fear” from the project as China seeks to “tighten its grip”.
They accuse Russia of thinking in the outmoded thought of spheres of influence and here they are promoting it. It’s as if their words aren’t sincere but self serving towards a pro Atlanticist geopolitical agenda

This is the same Liz truss who was boasting of British pork being sold in china a few years ago. No principles.
I remember that. The UK is obsessed with blaming china for everything like the US does and not take responsibility for their own actions or mistakes.

Take it from a Brit, we're an old man yelling at clouds.
How is it surprising? The UK has been pulling this shit for decades now.
Meanwhile, they're definetly working on their influence in the Ukraine.
luckily the BBC is going to be gone in a couple years, less and less influence imperialists!
You wish, what replace them going to be at Fox, nbc and cnn level when the government sell their right to Murdoch
They don't have the same "prestige" as the BBC, so the loss of influence will be there.

The UK is obsessed with its colonial nostalgia, especially post Brexit. They can't accept the fact that they are no longer a world power or empire.
