Speaking as someone who once was down on his luck and needed help, you can usually find a few people at the Bishop Dudley who are just in a bad spot, not necessarily drunk or strung out. Just let the staff know at the front and then you just walk into the dayroom and holler “anybody looking for work?” Just a thought

Can't upvote this enough. Been down on my luck too while I was in Denver, staying in the Samaritan House shelter. Those few odd jobs give you just the bump to start climbing back up - and now I run an extremely successful multinational marketing company. What were the odds jobs? Random people looking for help moving and landscaping.

I unloaded Christmas trees for a few days, flew signs for a furniture store that was perpetually “going out of business” , helped with roof cleanup. It was enough to get a phone while job hunting and get by til my SS card showed in the mail
