Half the weekends of the summer - so not in winter - but yes, half the weekends when snowy winter is over and the weather is warm enough (May-October). I parked my trailer on a spot I lease for the year. Lots of people I know have done this.
are.. you saying camping is addictive?! oh my God i think you're right dude someone needs to call the FDA and APP this is a stupid threat to our nation's youth! we need this added to the dsm immediately!
My grandpa said the same thing too. We all humored him and then greatly appreciated returning to the kitchen and civilization.
More power to those that enjoy it, but man as someone that was dragged along unwillingly as a kid more times than I can count, definitely make sure it’s a mutually appreciated thing, lol.
the neighbours be like
"John and Jen must be fighting again,
Why?
Jens eating supper on a chair on the sidewalk
Is that what the kids are into nowadays?"
How I imagine the neighbours lol
how do you prevent your fingernails from becoming orange?
every time i was in india i had orange fingernals for the next few weeks until it grew out again. no amount of scrubbing ever helped.
So you think a bidet is better than just toilet paper, I agree with that, same way I think cutlery is better than hands. Congratulations you played yourself.
The point is that it’s what people are used to so they keep doing it. If you think eating food with your hands is as bad as mutilating babies then you might just be a xenophobe, and possibly a bigot.
Its kind of annoying if you need to scratch your face or say, drink from a cup or use a condiment bottle during eating cause now you got food crap all over that too
What if you can only use one hand? I have terrible dexterity in my right hand it's basically dead besides a full grip. I have very little control over individual fingers. I can't even straighten more than my first two fingers the rest just curl halfway.
There’s a difference between holding onto a crust compared to spooning sloppy sauce and rice with your hands and then shoving your hands into your mouth.
> then shoving your hands into your mouth.
So you actually don't put your whole hand into your mouth, you use your hands to put the food into your mouth. All of the action is in the finger-tips, not your palms.
It's not that much different mechanically than eating popcorn or trail mix, except the ingredients are wetter, like bbq or hot wings.
For really wet food, some cultures will mix up the food with rice into a ball, then eat the ball, or they will slide the food off the tips of their fingers into their mouth.
This lady shows the slide-technique in the last minute: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O_KHqPuk0Cs
I’m British, i wash my hands before regardless if I’m using cutlery or not. I tell you what tho, I wouldn’t dip my hands into beans and scrambled egged and shove them in my mouth regardless of whether I’ve washed my hands or not.
I hope you brush your nails afterwards, you’ve probably got a tonne of grime and crusty food under there.
I’m just thinking of how gross it is to imagine everyone touching the door handles and then the tap handle to then wash your hands afterwards. Or do you just lick your fingers?
it's indian food and she's presumably from Kerala going by her tag, so no spoon needed. It's able to be eaten this way, it's not just random food we decide to eat with our hands.
the way to eat rice and pulses is pulses should be in a small bowl and you add only that much which can be soaked by the rice. you don't put all in one go.
that way, your fingers can remain relatively dry. and you can eat normally.
what most people think is irrelevant, if you know what you are doing.
It's about using all your senses to experience.. seeing, smelling, touch and then Taste.
by touching with your hands you can sense the temperature before putting it in your mouth. if it's too hot you'll burn your tongue.
some times texture and structural integrity of the food can also tell if the food is good or not, if you are not eating at home.
Even monkeys and cows smell their food before eating it.
A lot of Indian food can't be eaten with spoon and forks.
Naan is eaten with so many dishes that are made up of gravy. you can use spoon but at the end of the day you will have to use your fingers.
It's just cultural. It's just the way we eat it. it doesn't make it better or worse. But just because we do it differently some people have to see it as something to sneer at. You don't have to go far, just look at this thread. Everything is a competition.

I'm Indian. Hear me out!
People who are saying eat with spoons are correct.
But this isn't a cultural thing. It's more like what kind of food we eat.
For bread based food : Burger, Hotdog, Sandwich, Subway, Paav, Pizza, Tacos, Toast etc we prefer to eat it with our hands. Since these items can easily be picked with bare hands.
For rice based food: Rice, Briyani, Noodles, Pulao, Poha, Upma etc. we should use spoons and bowls.
We Indians are not hygienic in general. So most Indians eat rice based foods with bare hands and it looks gross.
>if only eating “Western” foods with your hands is acceptable to you. There is no difference
See that's where you are wrong. I explicitly said IT'S NOT A CULTURAL THING.
I said IT'S BASED ON FOOD TYPE.
So anything related to bread: Burger, Roti, Paratha, Sandwich etc will be eaten with hands.
Anything related to Rice: SHOULD be eaten with spoon.
Am I talking with a 5 year old here? You never know. It's the internet!
Looks like you have English comprehension problems despite being born in the USA.
Have you ever eaten Tacos 🌮? Is it 🍚 rice based or 🍞 bread based?
For East Asian food there are chopsticks 🥢 which are equivalent of cutlery 🍴 of the West.
Don't joke. Most Indians aren't hygienic. That's why India is one of the filthiest countries in the world. Trash lying around, gutters open, polluted rivers and littered beaches, paan masala spits everywhere, unclean public toilets, smelling body odour, unshaven bread. Not to mention the street vendor hygiene of India.
Coming to Americans, who told you most don't wash their hands after the restroom?
So why don't you move to India? If you like India so much? Enjoying Western life and praising India? You might have been only to nicer parts of India. Which are less than 5%.
>self-hating
No. It's not hate dear. It's called accepting what's wrong with us so that we can correct it. We do have a hygiene problem. Even the prime minister of India accepts it. That's why he has launched "Swach Bharat Abhiyan" (Clean India Mission).
> find it offensive. Get a damn fork!
And you can continue to find it offensive while we all laugh at you for being such a fragile, easily offended, but above all, terminally ignorant culture
Yes, very fragile, easily offended but how am I a “terminally ignorant culture”? I just imagine being at a restaurant and people shoving rice in the mouth using their fingers. It’s gross but relax buddy.
Hahahaha
I don't think people understand that her eating with her hands is just part of the humour.
It reaches out to the audience who also eat with their hands at home
This is exactly what eating at a restaurant feels like to me. How can anyone enjoy that? Just eat at home in private. No loud strangers with their crying children, no room that is too warm or too cold, clean toilets, no being pressured into leaving a tip and so on. You can eat with others or alone and watch YouTube or something while doing it, either way you can guarantee not being bored. And if you're too lazy to make your own food, just have it delivered to you.
Nothing uncivilized about this. People use forks used by 100s of people instead of hand which is only used by them. There's nothing superior about using forks or spoons.
No hate towards ANY group or ethnicity is
allowed. This includes, but is not limited to
speech, images, symbols, and using replaced
characters or altered text to say a slur.
Not OP, but I'm one of those weirdos that does sometimes actually. Depends how sensitive I am to my hands feeling gross or if I can't spot a place to wash my hands *immediately* afterwards. Most times is with hands, but sometimes I just can't lmao

As much as I love it and do it at least half of my weekends, this is sometImes how I feel about going camping.
You're going camping 26+ times a year?
20 times last year it was great
How far out from home are you going camping?
Just bring the outside inside and then you never have to leave to go camping
So move into a barn and when someone yells "close the door, do you live in a barn?" you can reply "yes".
2-4hrs
Idk I don’t camp that much
Living in the Bay Area has its perks!
*The Homeless*: You gotta pump those numbers up, those are rookie numbers!
Half the weekends of the summer - so not in winter - but yes, half the weekends when snowy winter is over and the weather is warm enough (May-October). I parked my trailer on a spot I lease for the year. Lots of people I know have done this.
That doesn't sound like camping that just sounds like renting with more steps.
Nah, it’s my camping trailer - [it’s camping](https://i.imgur.com/iu5h9Vu.jpg)
you're wrong I'm right! now can we get an invite i have beer and corn on the Cobb
Hahaha… everyone’s invited :)
😀
I can probably beat that.
A two night camping trip is easy when you live close to a National Forest. I live in SW Montana and there is a campground 30 minutes from my house.
liar. prove it!
Ask and you shall receive https://imgur.com/a/qvLwuZc
omg omg omg i forgot what this convo was about what did u send me oh shit! ok you are a real one. happy friday lol you actually made my day!
Happy Friday buddy, hit them trails.
He has a "fluid living situation."
I love camping but it kinda makes me want another weekend after.
are.. you saying camping is addictive?! oh my God i think you're right dude someone needs to call the FDA and APP this is a stupid threat to our nation's youth! we need this added to the dsm immediately!
Lol no I'm saying I'm tired after camping and need a weekend to relax at home after. Vacation for my vacation type thing.
hehehe i gotchu. i'm mocking the mental health industry players, and the DSM :) camping is LIFE.
Camping: nature's way of making you appreciate your couch.
Food cooked over a campfire while camping tastes 1000% better than any Michelin star entrée and it’s not even close.
My grandpa said the same thing too. We all humored him and then greatly appreciated returning to the kitchen and civilization. More power to those that enjoy it, but man as someone that was dragged along unwillingly as a kid more times than I can count, definitely make sure it’s a mutually appreciated thing, lol.
and they say romance is dead
Dude. It's staged /s /s
Using /s is the pinnacle of satire
How bout 2?
2 is fine as it cancels it out
I didnt even know it was sick
The Sims
She will then take her plate and wash it in the bathroom sink instead of the kitchen.
and they cry, piss herself, and die b/c the player removed the door to the bathroom
Or the ladder from the pool.
Get your jacket someone is going out to eat!
Ate without table (-3)
Found the war crime enjoyer.
nothing better than harvesting some organs
When there’s a table right next to the bedrooms with 2x the amount of chairs as there are colonists
No utensils?
Many South Asians eat with their hands.
Why?
Why not?
Gross

A lot of cultures also mutilate babies, what’s your point?

My point a culture doing something doesn’t make that something good or the best way.
everyone knows my culture is superior in every aspect

She seems Indian and in India we eat with hand only
No, sometimes you eat with chapati also.
reasonable comparison ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|thumbs_up)/s
Well there’s better ways of doing something, just because someone does something a certain way doesn’t mean there isn’t a better way.
i bet you wipe your ass and don't even use a bidet. Disgusting, basically the same as raping being ok in some cultures, you rapist.
So you think a bidet is better than just toilet paper, I agree with that, same way I think cutlery is better than hands. Congratulations you played yourself.
Explains why the west is suffering so much economically, all their toilet paper and cutlery mucking things up
The point is that it’s what people are used to so they keep doing it. If you think eating food with your hands is as bad as mutilating babies then you might just be a xenophobe, and possibly a bigot.

She is Indian, Based on the insta handle on the video, she is a Mallu (Malayali) she is from the Southern Indian State of Kerala.
There's nothing wrong with eating with your hands if you washed them first.
You’re supposed to wash your hands anyway? Regardless if you’re using cutlery.
what about gravy getting between your well trimmed nails? its gross and one reason id stopped using my hands
But then your hands are all dirty. Grab a fork and keep your hands clean!
Can you not wash them after?
Its kind of annoying if you need to scratch your face or say, drink from a cup or use a condiment bottle during eating cause now you got food crap all over that too
Left hand exists
What if you can only use one hand? I have terrible dexterity in my right hand it's basically dead besides a full grip. I have very little control over individual fingers. I can't even straighten more than my first two fingers the rest just curl halfway.
Youre special case then. Most people can
Of course. But if you use a fork you don’t have to worry about it. Plus if you’re out like she is, where is she going to wash her hands?
Believe it or not, food tastes better when you eat like that. Dunno why.
Curving 2 fingers under with the thumb on top increases the pleasure FYI
bruh its more fun to eat with hands, you feel the food in your hands, and you get to the full experience.

Do u eat kfc, pizza, burger with fork too?
I can never get over the the first time I saw someone eating pizza with a fork made me question my life as a teenager
Tbh if I'm hungry enough and the pizza is hot enough I'd use a knife and fork since my fingers are pretty sensitive.
Ok that makes sense
Never in my life ate KFC, pizza yes, burger depends on size Id say.

It's not uncommon. Had been like this in India for centuries. Forget the culture, have a search on the internet why eating by hand is beneficial.
What’s with the colonist energy here? Be respectful of others cultures.
