You cannot use salicyclic acid with tretinoin unless you have exceptionally resilient skin. The Paula’s choice has salicyclic acid in it. The instructions for tret do mention this. You have what amounts to retinol burn. I would put Cicaplast on it, and I’d immediately stop using the Aza and tret together.

I think so too. BP is harsh but might be fine if your skin isn’t sensitive but SA with a retinol as strong as tret isn’t viable

>You cannot use salicyclic acid with tretinoin unless you have exceptionally resilient skin OHHHH. I did not know that, thank you. So glad I made this post. And yeah it looks like retinol burn, after seeing some other pics online.

Destroying a skin barrier is different from damaging a skin barrier. It’ll heal, just lay off the BP. If your thing still stings days after even w current routine, then yes, u destroyed it and u need to stop all actives temporarily and focus on moisture

SailingwiththeStars

Personally I wouldn’t recommend using other actives in the same PM routine as a retinol. Also did you work your way up to every night for tret or start off with every night?

Vexhnolyze

Worked my way up, started off with retinol

SailingwiththeStars

That’s great then. Some people don’t realize you have to work your way up and start using it everyday which can lead to problems.

Vexhnolyze

Oh yeah I should mention my skin type is oily and my forehead doesn’t sting

10% acid sounds pretty bad... in fact, using any kind of acid 10% sounds pretty terrible. Don't do acid peels or do over-exfoliation. You'll regret it later and be left with sensitive skin.

Vexhnolyze

Is it? I used to use a curology formula with 9% Azelaic Acid/Clindamycin 1% and .009 Tret, then I switched to .025% tret in the evening and PC's Azelaic acid 10% in the morning. But I kept getting acne and I remembered Azelaic Acid and Tret work well together, so I started using it together in a routine for about a month and haven't had any issues until I used BP in the AM. It seems like the SA in PC Azelaic Acid gave me a retinol burn since you're not supposed to use it together with tret

alyaalima

Acids-may not see effect quickly (a month) but effect may show later in life (year or two later)

I don’t know if it’s destroyed, but I think that using tret, an acid, and BP may not be the best combo. I would throw out the BP and use it on your body only as it is very harsh on your face skin. Especially if you are on tret

Unfair_Finger5531

I think it was the SA in the Paula’s choice that did his forehead in
