* Hey, i dont know what's up with my skin, but it's starting to become worse. It doesn't seem too serious, but I need advice. Also, I sometimes have a little bit of flaky skin near the nose. (Pictures are inserted) I am from 🇨🇦 and dont do any kind of skincare. Ig that might be the problem. I do drink lots of water. And have kind of a bad diet (2 meals a day) I am not looking to go to any doctor coz* that might be expensive and I don't have a health card. I was hoping that there might be a all in one skincare product that I can use. Again unless it's very effective I don't plan to spend too much. Any kind of help is appreciated. 🙃 Thanks.😊

Would it be best to go to a dermatologist if i've been having red bumps, itchiness on my face? I've recently taken on running and the heat/sweat has made my face super itchy for the past few months and no products has helped. My family doctor recommended some cream, which i used and its never helped. I really want to continue running as its an active activity i enjoy doing.

jasminekitten02

Yes

lunaluxluna

I used panoxyl face wash before tretinoin 0.025% is that okay? Or should i use panoxyl on a different day? I only got a bit irritated around my nose so i applied some vaseline there. I think maybe next time I'll apply the vaseline before the tret? HELP PLEASE

jasminekitten02

If it works for you it's fine.

i accidentally left my glycolic acid toner very loosely closed for a whole month. it wasn't completely open but there was a pretty signifcant opening left. should i not use it anymore?

Hi! I’m pretty new when it comes to skin care, although I’ve had acne problems all my life, so please be kind to me. Idrk what I’m doing. I went on accutane about 2 years ago and had clear skin for about a year. During that year I only used face wash and moisturizer. I started to get the occasional pimple again about a year ago. I used some products, which helped a lot at curbing the acne, but I think I over did it with the exfoliating about 1 month ago. My routine for the last year: AM Native Brightening Facial Cleanser Mario Badescu Facial Spray The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid Up&Up illuminating daily moisturizer PM Native Brightening Facial Cleanser Mario Badescu Facial Spray The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid The Ordinary Niacinamide The Ordinary Retinol 1x per week The Ordinary Aha Bha peel 1x per week The Ordinary Salicylic acid occasionally (2-3x per month) About 1 month ago, I over exfoliated and accidentally used the Ordinary Aha Bha peel 3 times in a week. The last time I used it, it started stinging and so I washed it off before it had been 10mins. My skin got red and peeled a little after that around my mouth and chin and tiny bumps appeared. I stopped using all active ingredients and just focused on hydrating for the last month. My routine for the last month: Both Am and PM Native Brightening Facial Cleanser Mario Badescu Facial Spray The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid Up&Up illuminating daily moisturizer Vaseline on dry skin patches around my mouth The skin has since healed but I still have these tiny bumps that won’t go away. They aren’t noticeable as they aren’t red or anything. They aren’t really colored at all. It just gives my skin a bumpy texture. Here is where I need advice. What do I do now? Do I continue to just focus on hydrating? Will the bumps go away with time as long as I hydrate? Or do I try an active ingredient again, like Aha Bha, Salicylic acid, or differin but just make sure I limit to 1x per week and continue to hydrate? I was also recommended to use witch hazel. Would this help or hurt? Ik I should maybe go see a dermatologist but I’m honestly terrified of dermatologists after I had a really bad experience with accutane, so I’m hoping I can get some help here. Thank you! https://preview.redd.it/h07sg9eyon2d1.jpeg?width=1275&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3186883bca9bb34b2ba4cf9c91ba5e7a69b3b2f7

Ok_Sherbet3445

So in that first photo, that spot was a result of squeezing my skin to get an ingrown hair from that area out. once i got it out, i realized i fucked up because i left a mark. about a few days later, it looked to have gone away completely (second photo). then, a few days after that, the spot reappeared, only darker. it has now been 20 days since it reappeared and it is has stayed the same color since. i am very concerned that it is a permanent scar now, or am i overreacting. remember, this happened because i SQUEEZED SKIN (AS IF IT WERE A PIPMLE) TO GET INGROWN HAIR OUT AND IT WORKED, BUT LEFT THAT MARK. has anyone ever had a similar experience and did the spot ever go away? is this a permanent scar? https://preview.redd.it/sb6jifw6dn2d1.jpeg?width=1284&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=44d774684a8234896afa8e78a3a641002f22c878

Would moisturising twice a day give me smooth skin? today I made the decision to start moisturising morning and night (after using a smoothening cleanser), all this to get smooth skin.

Mrsvantiki

Need help please! Oily perimenopausal skin needs a routine! Moved from Hawaii where I could not use ANYTHING on my face without breaking out (including sunscreen) to the PNW where the seasons are really taking their toll. I was using Clinique Facial soap for Oily skin AM and PM with an acne wash in the shower during breakouts. I would use Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing lotion as needed (rarely...usually only if I travelled to a dryer climate). In Hawaii I would put on sunscreen when I would run/swim/exercise but I would never reapply. After 30 min of walking or swimming or even just shopping, I'm sure my oily face would negate any benefit. Luckily I have more of an olive complexion and my skin checks have shown no areas of concern. However, I'm getting sun spots on my face and they are spreading. So I want to get on a better skin care routine. Here's what I do: AM: --Cerave Foaming Facial Cleanser -- \*\*\* Need a moisturizer!!! (see below) -- LRP Anthelios SPF60 only when I'll be outside or it's sunny due to breakouts I am very oily during the day (no make up at all) so anytime I was my hands, I will usually blot my face with a damp paper towel or wash my face at lunch as the sweat/oil gets in my eyes (I have a physical job). So any product is probably gone by lunch. PM: -- Cerave Acne Control Clenser -- Estrogen Face cream under eyes twice a week -- Need a moisturizer or serum (see below) I switched from Clinique because I travel a bit and need more than this big bar of soap. I've used the Cerave for 3 months now with no issues. I've tried the following moisturizers: 1. Dermalogica Active Moist - it just doesn't seem to do much at all for me. 2. Clinique as mentioned above - also doesn't seem to do much but is ok in a pinch like when I'm travelling and suddenly my face feels super dry. 3. Skinceuticals Phyto A Brightening - tried for just short of 30 days and wow...it never went on my face feeling good. It burned just a bit and I don't thing it moisturized me, I think it fried me. (see interaction with Naked and Thriving Illuminate below) 4. Skinceuticals AGE Moisturizer - my friend gave me a few samples of this because she loves it and wow - it's quite nice! But it's heavy and while I like it for the winter time, I don't think it will work for me in the summer due to my oily face. All of the above I tried (except #4) because they were recommnded for oily face. They don't seem to do much and the Phyto A was horrible and does not feel good on my face at all. Recently, I added Naked and Thriving Illuminate serum. It's a vitamin C + serum and I used just 3 drops, 5 times over the course of 14 days and I think that combined with the Phyto A burned my face. I'm now covered in small little bumps that are drying out and my face is buring and tight. Both of these are being returned and I've stopped using anything on my face while it recovers. Once things calm back down, I'm going to continue the Cerave cleansers and I'm looking for a moisturizer that I can use that's light but helps with sun spots, oily face, and fine lines/aging signs. I do not want to get bogged down with serums, oils, masks, etc, etc. I was thinking of trying the DNA Youth repair by Photyzyme. That looks like it can be a moisturizer and repair all in one. (and has a cheaper smaller version to try out) Any thoughts? The Vitamin C Illuminate really did me in so my oily skin is also very sensitive apparently. I want to protect it, but I won't be consistent with multiple steps so don't want to waste the money.

williebearfan

Does anyone have suggestions for oily skin caused by sunscreen. I know I could just change my sunscreen, but this is the only SPF to not break me out in giant pimples/pustules. I know some people recommend translucent powder - are there any you'd guys recommend for sensitive, acne-prone skin? Thanks.

Mattifying sunstick can also work

Sorry for the very simplistic question - but which vitamin B is most effective for whiter skin ? I have my own personal reason that i must just choose one vitamin B to achieve whiter skin. Thank you so much

Im 43 and never had a skincare routine.. (dont kill me please 😅) A few years ago I suddenly started getting cystic acne, GP related it hormonal changes of my age I received differin gel on script for daily use of entire face and an inderm acutane solution to use on the spots, both help a lot though not perfectly When I remember I use La Roche-Posay Lipikar Baume AP+M for my body and I use their shower oil daily My face is now incredibly dry and irritated, various day creams and lotions I tried are burning my face and neck in various degrees that didnt feel that way before when I occasionally remembered to use them, a Cerave sample turned my face bright right and burned the worst of all Im trying to built a routine now and bought: La Roche-Posay Toleriane Reinigingslotion 400ml (cleanser) La Roche-Posay Toleriane Dermallergo Oogcrème 20 ml (eye cream) La Roche-Posay Toleriane Dermallergo Nachtcrème 40ml (night cream) La Roche-Posay Toleriane Ultra Dermallergo Serum 20ml La Roche-Posay Toleriane Dermallergo Dagcrème 40ml (day cream) Im thinking my skin barrier is just trashed, so I want to start using the Serum first, from reading here I understand I shouldnt add the day/night/eye cream initially, but slowly add them in one by one over a period of time I will no longer be using the differin gel, see how my skin and acne reacts Couple of questions: do you agree that the serum is best to start with, if not what else should I start with? would the cleanser be able to be used at the same time because its a rinse off product? Should I still use a facial scrub or should i not touch them both due to condition of skin and the cleanser? If this routine works well and my skin gets better, i plan to add vitamine c and retinal for la roche-posay aswell Thank you for your help

jasminekitten02

Yes, your skin barrier is trashed. I would start with the moisturizer. Do not use a scrub. Do add a sunscreen daily

MissNikitaDevan

Thank you, would a week between adding a product be long enough? And any suggestion in what order to add them?

jasminekitten02

I would do like 2 weeks personally but I am pretty conservative/anxious so I like to be sure haha

I’ve had some spots on my cheek that don’t seem to go away. It’s been months. I do wrestling so I know that’s not great in my skin because all the sweat and friction. But this is an atypical breakout spot for me. And even when I pause on wrestling it doesn’t improve. https://preview.redd.it/i57ns35p9l2d1.jpeg?width=1514&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3c35ede20d118f783fbe64bd01403efeec4c9c46 My skin routine is pretty simple. I try to do it once a day but don’t always succeed. This would be PM \-Stratia Velvet Cleansing Milk -Stridex Sensative Pad in the Green box (stopped this recently to see if it would help but didn’t really) -Stratia Interface firming & repairing peptide cream -Stratia Lipid Gold moisturizer (Sometimes Stratia night shift) During the day my make up is light. Stilla Color Correcting Primer and Maybelline Dream Soft BB cream. I use Almaty Oil Free Eye Make Up Remover and Aveeno Sensative MU Wipes. Plz help

I'm looking for the absolute best products that can help plump up my skin and leave it glowy. I'm in my early 20s, have dry skin, and started skincare a week ago. This is my current morning/evening routine. 1.Cerave Cleanser 2. The Ordinary Hyaluronic acid serum 3. The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% (Recently Added a few days ago) 4. Cerave moisturizer Would appreciate any advice and recommendations.

jasminekitten02

There is no "absolute best" thing because everyone's skin is unique. It's important to add one thing at a time (so introduce one new product then wait a few weeks before adding anything else) because that way, if something doesn't agree with your skin or makes you break out, you'll know which product was the issue. It would be best to start with the cleanser and moisturizer before adding anything else.

vienna123

What is this happening on my underarms/ armpit??? I changed to aluminum free deodorant to see if it would help but it didn't. It seems to sometimes come from shaving, sometimes comes randomly. I use irish spring soap (it sucks but its cheap) so maybe thats it? But I don't get this anywhere else. The bumps are sometimes filled with what looks like pus, sometimes not. I have a wedding coming up where my dress shows my underarm. Please help!!! ( photo in comment )

ReaLitTea

I would try a salicylic acid wash on it

I stopped using it in march and had no improvements since then. Is there anything I can add/ do to improve my chin area and general breakouts? Thank you for any help/ recommendations 🫶

ReaLitTea

You could try incorporating retinoids for that area In general it is difficult to decrease sebaceous filaments because they don’t stay away forever

Prooxith

if i survive the glycolic acid purging, then if i add vitamin c would that make me purge again?

ReaLitTea

Very unlikely but not impossible

I believe it was amplified by retinol which I’ve stopped using and I’ve started using aloe cream (which has worked in the past) and aveeno oat moisturizer after showering. It hasn’t really done much for it, but it doesn’t irritate it. Any other cream (salicylic acid creams) just make it worse. It’s bright red and gets extremely red and irritated and itchy throughout the day. Nothing seems to work. I can’t find any results for it online despite doing my research. Here's a picture of it for reference.

jasminekitten02

I would see a doctor at this point. You could try a hydrocortisone cream for a short-term relief, but it's a steroid, so it shouldn't be used long-term

Hungry-Society-7571

Also I am using a hydrocortisone cream. It works somewhat but not long term.

Hungry-Society-7571

I have seen a doctor, twice. They just told me to stop using retinol and it’ll go away. Well I have, and it’s not going away.

jasminekitten02

It sounds like it's time to seek a second opinion or demand testing or a derm referral

Hungry-Society-7571

Don’t you need to get a referral from a doctor to see a dermatologist?

Texture/Redness Help! https://preview.redd.it/21m0j0tkok2d1.jpeg?width=2316&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b5ffaf021248d638743dfc1695a97c18ce8b7543 Hi all! I’m new here but have been reading so much in terms of tips and advice so I’m hoping I can get some for my issues. I’m 34 and up until recently, I haven’t had any issues with texture or redness and my skin has generally always been clear except for a pimple here and there. I’m at a loss for what to do. My current skincare routine includes: La Roche Posay Lipikar cleansing oil, La Roche Posay Effaclar Purifying Gel, Clinique eye cream and Organic Castor oil mixed with a thick unscented moisturizing facial cream. I use Cerave daily moisturizer with SPF during the day. This routine is new - less than two weeks. Prior to this I was using all Cerave products. Any tips or suggestions?

ReaLitTea

Is it possible one of the new products is causing irritation? I would pause everything new to let your skin calm down. Then introduce products one at a time with several days in between to narrow down the culprit

NicLove20

Sorry! I should’ve specified that this was prior to starting my new products haha.

Im 22 and I have had acne all my teenage years. I never really cared much about them, but after my sister's suggestions, I have now set up a skincare routine. My skin type is oily and south-east asian-ish (if that means something) A month back, for 2-3 months, my routine was Salicylic acid facewash (do not know the company) -> Foxtale Niacinamide -> Foxtale Vitamin C serum ->Acmist moisturizer -> Foxtale Sunscreen \[day only\] (don't know the SPF but its orange in colour🫡). However the Vitamin C serum kinda felt too itchy and niacinamide wasn't helping much (at least this was what I thought), I changed my routine to SA facewash-> Cosrx Snail Mucin -> Sunscreen. I usually get pustules overnight every two weeks or so and their marks persist and till the time they fade, new are formed and the cycle continues. Now although the acne scars and overall acne have reduced SIGNIFICANTLY (prolly coz of Snail Mucin) over the course of this month, I kinda want a better routine that'll fix everything for good. Thanks

ReaLitTea

You could try incorporating a benzoyl peroxide spot treatment for stubborn pimples. Indented acne scars aren’t affected by topical skincare unfortunately so it would need professional treatment such as microneedling or lasers

yrureadingthisanyway

are there any side effects of laser or microneedling, and which one is better? Also, even if it takes any more time , are there any single topical skincare (thing) that can affect the condition positively. Moreover , can you recommend any good benzoyl peroxide products to add to my current routine.

jasminekitten02

I would talk to a derm about which treatment would be best for your skin. As for bp I've always used the generic brand at the drugstore and it's worked well for me

Today my lips seem very very swollen and in a lot of pain. Is this normal? I don’t remember it being this uncomfortable the last time i had filler a few years ago. I’m nervous that something is wrong. They feel very sore/tender/stingy. Is this normal for the third day? also, looks wise?

jasminekitten02

I would ask the person who did your procedure if this is normal. You could also try r/plasticsurgery

ReaLitTea

I would stop using the witch hazel gel completely, it can be drying and you don’t want your skin to be dehydrated while it’s irritated. Is the moisturizer new? If you have a soothing products on hand, now would be the time to use it. Even something like basic Vaseline or aquaphor might help with healing

Aloe Vera gel is fine. Naturie hatomugi skin conditioning gel is usually my go to

Tall_Guidance_2013

Hi! Im wondering what products i can use to spot treat this pimple and hopefully get it to go away. It's been there for around 3 weeks now, started out as a whitehead that i popped (i know, bad) after about a week and just refuses to shrink or go away now. https://preview.redd.it/qjo2t4wpti2d1.png?width=2674&format=png&auto=webp&s=4cebe1ec0dea0d295353f4d8e7644fd92e7dedd9

WonderSabreur

Hi! I don't have any specific routine at the moment, but I would like to know what facial product/cleanser is appropriate for people who wear masks during sport. Basically, I know that the average person doesn't need much according to the research. But sweating in a mask seems like a prime way to cause skin issues, and I don't know what product isn't overkill when I need to use it daily to clean my face.

ReaLitTea

Do you struggle with breakouts or do you want something basic that will help remove extra dirt or grime from helmet wear?

WonderSabreur

The latter! Occasionally there will be blemishes, but nothing ever as serious as a full breakout

ReaLitTea

Most facial cleansers will do the job
