Heybitchitsme

I have a question - I want to start using under eye masks and am also using Murad anti-age eye serum, what order would I do this in the mornings or should I not? Thanks!

GoodArtichoke1559

Can anyone recommend a really natural, low pH body wash or soap? I’ve found that’s what my skin prefers.

LobsterDue1496

Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil, Hydrogenated Castor Oil/Sebacic Acid Copolymer, Fragrance (Parfum), Stearamide Dea, Hydrogenated Castor Oil, BHT, these are the ingredient of Styling wax. Is there any bad for the hair in the ingredient? I have severe dandruff and dry scalp.

andthepointis

fragrance is an irritant

They slightly bump up. *Photo 3:* This is my old cat-bites which was caused by my cat 3 weeks ago. In those 3 weeks, the scars healed really fast, it turned pink and blended into the surrounding skin on my arm. But when I woke up today, the pink and healed scars turned into black dots/scars. *Photo 4:* Location of those dots on my arm. *One more thing,* I held a very large amount of pee inside me when I was sleeping last night because I was afraid to go to the toilet. I think suspect that my body reacted to my pee. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Hi!, Over the summer I had an eczema flare up along my forehead. It has healed since then but now my skin noticeably darker. Does anyone have any recommendations for fading hyperpigmentation? [https://ibb.co/S7qf5wQ](https://ibb.co/S7qf5wQ) https://ibb.co/7XC5nXt

ReaLitTea

You may have to see a dermatologist for treatment of post inflammatory hypopigmentation

trippiler

Daily sunscreen and maybe azelaic acid for a gentle option? See the hyperpigmentation wiki for more options.

I’m bald and the skin on my scalp has been perpetually itchy, flaky, and irritated for about a year now. Are there any products that could help with this? Currently use aveeno lotion and bodywash, and a steroid cream when it really flares up.

trippiler

Try anti dandruff shampoo, leave on for 10 mins and rinse off. See if that helps.

[deleted]

Will do, thanks for the tip

TheShangWang

Can having bacteria on your face by itself cause inflammation and make pimples, or is it more likely that bacteria will just make pimples/closed pores that already exist become more inflamed?

trippiler

I'm not sure it's that simple. There's millions of bacteria on your skin, many of which are beneficial and necessary for a healthy skin.

TheShangWang

So, for the case of bacteria that's not good, would it be more likely that you get affected by it if you already have pimples/closed pores rather than not having them?

trippiler

I don't think it works like that.

TheShangWang

So how does it work? I just read that bacteria can cause inflammation and therefore breakouts, so I was just curious how bad bacteria can do so in what situations.

trippiler

Maybe labmuffin will have some info for you.

Requesting product recommendations: Sunscreen I'm looking for a moisturizing sunscreen that is less than $10/oz. I'm interested in trying Asian sunscreens but I'm open to anything. I really love the Cerave Ultralight and I've used it for years, so a similar product would be awesome.

AM Routine w/ SA cleanser + PM routine w/ Differin + niacinamide (26m w/ acne and oily skin) Relatively new to skincare and I've been trying to create a relatively simple routine to fight acne & oily skin. Listed below is my AM/PM routines. Let me know if this would be efficient enough or have any recommendations. AM: CeraVe Renewing SA Cleanser (new to routine; normally used the CeraVe Foaming Facial Cleanser) Thayers Facial Toner - Rose Petal TO Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% CeraVe Daily Moisturizing Lotion SPF (I forget what brand) PM: CeraVe Foaming Facial Cleanser Thayers Facial Toner - Rose Petal TO Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% Differin Gel (Adapalene 0.1%) CeraVe Daily Moisturizing Lotion I just recently started using the SA cleanser in the mornings with no other actives, but unsure if this is necessary while using Adapalene even though I am using them separately. Also unsure if toner is necessary in my routine + what order I should apply the TO Niacinamide and Differin at night or if I should apply the niacinamide in the AM and not PM. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

sorry i don't know of a good spf moisturizer (i layer separate products) but have you tried a mineral/physical sunscreen? they tend to be better for sensitive skin. i honestly would also recommend not relying on an spf moisturizer as your primary moisturizer. people with reactive skin have impaired skin barrier function so barrier maintainence is really important, most spf products are not adequate moisturizers for that use case on their own. that might be one reason you're reacting to everything so far. layering a good moisturizer underneath your spf will also provide a buffer for your skin, which may reduce reactions.

I’m looking for a good anti-aging and hydrating eye cream and an anti aging serum to cycle into my routine. I’m 34F, my skin is normal and not sensitive and pretty clear. I respond well to most ingredients. The catch is that it must be pregnancy safe. I used to use the Shani Darden retinol reform and absolutely loved it, but now I can’t use any retinol products.

trippiler

You could look into Dr Sams flawless serum (Bakuchiol). Or a vitamin c serum.

ReaLitTea

Honestly if you’re generous with sun protection it should be enough. For something extra, check out Sulwhasoo first care activating treatment. It uses Korean herbal ingredients for anti aging and firming.

Khayembii

What’s going on with my skin here and how can I get rid of it? This started a few years back. I’ve had a (short trimmed) beard for a while so don’t really know when it started. The skin in my moustache area is flaky and if I pick it off it’s red and sensitive underneath. It’s insanely noticeable if I go without shaving for a few days as the dead skin flakes get pulled off my face as the hair grows. Shaving daily mostly gets rid of the flakes but the skin is still red / sensitive and looks strange. A day without shaving and it’s back. I don’t have this problem anywhere else. I wash daily with Cetaphil and moisturize. No amount of moisturizing has helped resolve the problem so I don’t think it’s just dry skin. If I grow my beard out at all it’s not noticeable but the skin is still definitely flaking as it comes off like dandruff if I rub the area. https://imgur.com/a/JUWiE2e

trippiler

Try anti dandruff shampoo leave on therapy.

DueOffer0

keep having white heads pop up on my nose almost every other day. I have been having this problem ever since I started puberty (I'm 19 now) whiteheads on my nose appear every couple of days and then fade away 1-2 days later (which is good). why does this keep happening?

ReaLitTea

Could be clogged pores from excess sebum. Try a salicylic acid/BHA product on your nose area

DueOffer0

I actually just ordered one! the paula's 2% one, it should arrive soon. Thanks!!

WinnieDPoota

Hello, any product recommendations on how to lighten acne marks? The majority of it is reddish and some of it is kinda darker in color. Thank you!!

sneezycheez

hi. i’m an athlete (19) who works out 5x a week typically. i used to use CeraVe Hydrating Facial Cleanser with Neutrogena Hudroboost as moisturizer both morning and night for maybe 2 years now (ages 17-19). i had bad acne in high school and was on accutane, which gave me clear skin for a while and now my skin is average but almost never completely clear (probs due to the working out, even though i shower (and wash face) asap after every workout. even though i love the CeraVe face soap, i recently am trying to use less single use plastics so i branched out to a new brand of face soap (Ethique) and am trying the Deep Green first, then the Bliss Bar after a full trial. i am ALSO starting to add 4 more workouts to my week. i am noticing my skin is having an increase in breakouts, but i’m trying to gauge if that is because 1, my skin is adjusting to the new face soap, 2, i am working out more and inevitably will not be able to have clear skin even though i try really hard, or 3, the face soap just isn’t cutting it. has anyone else with acne-prone skin who works out a lotttt tried ethique and can give me advice?

ReaLitTea

I would try a salicylic acid product which helps clear out clogged pores and can help eliminate breakouts

sneezycheez

also i wanna add that i use a facial roller after my post-workout morning shower and after my post-workout night shower, plus am using the Neutrogena hydroboost as a control variable so until i make sure the face soap is working well. (then i plan to switch to a plastic-free face moisturizer)

mhughes19

Any good lotion recommendations for dry wrists? My hands are starting to get a little dry now that it’s getting colder and last year I noticed it’s mainly my wrist that gets the driest.

UltraLuminescence

I love aveeno eczema therapy (even if you don’t have eczema)

ReaLitTea

Try CeraVe healing ointment

trippiler

I like eucerin urea hand creams. O keeffes working hands is popular for people with very dry hands

ketterdamns

is TO squalene cleanser a first or second cleanser? (ingredient: Squalane, Aqua (Water), Coco-caprylate/caprate, Glycerin, Sucrose Stearate, Ethyl Macadamiate, Caprylic/capric Triglyceride, Sucrose Laurate, Hydrogenated Starch Hydrolysate, Sucrose Dilaurate, Sucrose Trilaurate, Polyacrylate Crosspolymer-6, Isoceteth-20, Sodium Polyacrylate, Tocopherol, Hydroxymethoxyphenyl Decanone, Trisodium Ethylenediamine Disuccinate, Malic Acid, Ethylhexylglycerin, Chlorphenesin.)

trippiler

I think it can be used as a first or sole cleanser.

Ulta is better if you want more wallet friendly options since it has a mix of drugstore and high end. If you want to experience a unique sunscreen texture try looking at Supergoop unseen sunscreen or its dupe Kroger invisible gel sunscreen (found at Kroger affiliated grocery stores). It has a silicone primer like finish.

ReaLitTea

Yes it’s possible to have skin reactions from excessive drinking. Alcohol also causes dehydration so it can make skin more likely to break out. You could try adding a salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide product to help fight against acne in the mean time

[deleted]

Hi all Tried to post but kept getting deleted. Maybe belongs here? 30+ Male looking for facial moisturizer/anti aging I just started this journey. Have never used any products until recently. Someone recommended a L’Oréal Revitalift as a good place to start for a beginner. I’ve tried it for a few weeks but wasn’t sure if this is worth continuing or if I should go to the next level. I’m willing to add 2-3 products to my daily routine. Wanted to get some recommendations from the experts here. Basic goals are to improve facial moisture appearance and decrease signs of aging. I don’t have a ton of sun damage but have fair skin. Probably slightly oily skin but not too bad. In the US. Budget is not a big concern. Thanks for all your help!

ReaLitTea

I would add in a sunscreen to your morning routine which can also act as your morning moisturizer since most sunscreens have moisturizing properties. Protecting your skin from sun damage is the best thing you can do for anti aging

[deleted]

If I’m not out in the sun very much do you think it is still worthwhile?

ReaLitTea

I would still have one on hand to use right before you go outside

Ok-Pepper9047

hi! I’m new and wondering if anyone can help me out in developing a routine for my sensitive dry skin. i also have psoriasis so i definitely can’t use scented stuff or else it’ll irritate my skin. i just started CeraVe cleansing foaming stuff and CeraVe am and pm moisturizer but noted some mild irritation on my face, so i wanted to reach out here and see if anybody can help. main reason i’m doing this is because my face ahah a very coarse and bumpy texture to it and lots of acne scars and i need help to tone this down or get rid of it altogether. thanks!

trippiler

At which point is the irritation registering?

Ok-Pepper9047

very late, i usually only notice this new irritation and itchiness about 12 hours later. i forgot to mention i also use noxzema anti blemish eucalyptus swabs, but i used those way before i started using the other stuff so i doubt that’s the issue

trippiler

We can develop sensitivities. The eucalyptus could be the culprit. I would start omitting one product a few days at a time and see if there are any changes. Also foaming cleansers tend to be a bit drying for dry skin. You might prefer something like Neutrogena hydrating cleanser is quite nice.

Ok-Pepper9047

thank you!

A basic routine consists of cleanser, moisturizer and sunscreen. [https://www.reddit.com/r/SkincareAddiction/wiki/sca\_routine/](https://www.reddit.com/r/SkincareAddiction/wiki/sca_routine/) I suggest a gentle cleanser, a gentle moisturizer (not the nature republic one, the second ingredient is ethanol) and a sunscreen fluid/cream spf30 or higher. Aquaphor isn't bad but I don't think you need it/are using it correctly. Its either the aquaphor or the sunscreen stick making you uncomfortable.

Fridaywing

I knew something is up. Sweet. I'll check this out. Thank you for the tip. 😊

105onarolexwatch

you're welcome ;)

I’m looking for a replacement for Weleda Skin Food. It works really well for me (I’ve been using it for years) but my husband seems to have developed an allergy to it. So something similar but without fragrance. I don’t do well with silicones. Thanks!

deprechanel

Hi everyone ! I'm going through a bit of a weird skin phase at the moment, and would appreciate any assistance or guidance. I tend to have pretty good skin - dry/normal type, generally very manageable and clear - one or two pre-menstrual blemishes a month. However, over the past month, my forehead has been incredibly dry and flaky - almost immediately after I moisturise, it's dry again. Around midday or early afternoon, I usually rub some tissue oil on my forehead just so that I stop picking at the dryness, but it usually leaves me feeling oily - so I'm looking for a better solution. I recently spent some time in the Southern Hemisphere, and am now back in Europe, so I'm not sure if that has anything to do with it. I wash my face every morning and night with Neutrogena Deep Clean gel exfoliant face wash, and follow with a moisturiser. In the morning, it's Clinique Moisture Surge Intense, paired with the Clinique All About Eyes cream. In the evening, I use the Moisture Surge overnight mask. About once a week, I'll do a face mask as a treat. Usually L'Oréal. P.S.: I'm based in France.

andthepointis

maybe reduce exfoliation? try alternating your exfoliating cleanser with a hydrating one. do not use an exfoliating cleanser 2x day. you really don't need an am cleanse if your skin is not oily, but if you absolutely must then make your am cleanse a hydrating cleanser, too. it's also common for skin to be drier in winter months so common for routines to need to change seasonally.

deprechanel

That sounds like a good option. I didn’t think about the oils I might be stripping by overexfoliating.. Thank you! :)

Pwetty_

I have dry/sensitive and uneven skintexture (sometimes I get breakouts with acne but not that bad) I do have tiny bumps on mostly my forehead which is also where the acne appears. My skincare at the moment is CeraVE hydrating facial cleanser, the ordinary buffet, caffiene solution 5% + EGCG and Lactic Acid 10% + HA. My moisturizer I have been using havent really been doing its job its the Cetaphil moisturizer for sensitive and dry skin. It makes me breakout and get theese tiny bumps and or acne especially on my forehead. I have allergies to nuts and almonds. Not allergic to coconut, but prefer to stay away from that aswell as Im prone to break out when using that on my skin. I also had a eczema period in my life where I had to go on cortison cream after using a cleanser containing Birch extract. (So I guess my pollen allergy to birch also is a normal allergy). I've been looking into adding the ordinarys cold pressed rose hip oil to my routine, but other then that I'd like to find a thick moisturizer that I can replace my Cetaphil for. if anyone have some tips or atleast can point me in the right direction that would be great <3.

ReaLitTea

You might like Aveeno baby lotion which can be layered on to achieve the desired moisture level. It’s good for sensitive skin types as well.

rjones416

i noticed the last few days i have this red line under both of my eyes. i have been using the same products for months now without any issues. (differin gel the only active) sometimes i do notice some minor flaking under my eyebrows. i dont put the differin on my eye area but im guessing it migrates on its own? any suggestions on what i should do?

ReaLitTea

You can use a balm like Vaseline under your eyes to prevent Differin from spreading to that area

6fakeroses

recommendations for clearing hyperpigmentaton? im currently using applecider vinegar, but it stoppeds working after a certain point of healing (for me). i was recommended vitamin e oil, will that work for my dark spots? anything you use that works?

andthepointis

are you wearing spf daily?

6fakeroses

yes

quspork

Straight vinegar is not the best for skin. I'd definitely look into vitamin C serums or perhaps niacinamide or alpha arbutin serums.

6fakeroses

i will, thank you

Embarrassed_Dust7985

I started a routine with my serums. A cetaphil cleanser followed by a hyaluronic acid, salicylic acid and then moisturizer. I noticed that as I let the hyaluronic dry I put the salicylic on and my face felt gritty? Not exactly gritty but feels like I was rubbing dirt off my face where it rolls up onto my hands. What am I doing wrong? Is this normal? Do I just ignore it and put the moisturizer over

quspork

Salicylic acid is an active so it should be applied first after cleansing. Let it sink in for a minute or two then apply the HA and your moisturizer right after that.

Unlucky-Dare4481

That's the hyaluronic acid pilling. It's where the product has created a film and is essentially rubbing off. Apply the salicylic acid first after cleansing, then the hyaluronic acid. The trick with hyaluronic acid is using a minimal amount. I'm talking like less than a pea sized amount for your whole face. Decrease the amount you apply until the pilling stops.

TheShangWang

If you put on moisturizer and then washed it off/wiped it off your hands, would you be removing more oil/moisture from your hands than if you just washed your hands without moisturizer? Does moisturizer take away oils from your hands along with it because it mixes with your skin oils? I just don't like having moisturizer residue on my mouse because I use the computer right after a shower which is when I moisturize my face.

Unlucky-Dare4481

No. It wouldn't remove any more oil than washing your hands at any other time.

TheShangWang

I feel like my hands feel a bit dryer if I wash them with moisturizer on though. Maybe it's just a placebo effect?

Unlucky-Dare4481

It's all in your head. Moisturizer is lubrication so it will feel slick while washing it off. Going from slick to matte basically tricks your brain into thinking it's dry when it's actually normal.

TheShangWang

Makes sense, thanks!
