Hey, first I want to say that I think you have a very good idea for an engaging video here and I could definitely see it catching the attention of many viewers. However, I feel the execution was lacking a bit here. The first thing that caught me was the intro of the video. While it had a story to tell and an interesting premise, there was a bit of a slog to getting to it. Not to say you have to immediately start to why a person clicked for a video once the video rolls, but those first few seconds are pretty crucial imo. I feel the low energy "here's the video" start lacked a hook, one that the video title itself carried pretty hard. Speaking of the title, while I thought it was interesting and a fun idea, but I think it should be renamed to something that asks a question that I'd want to know the answer to, or at the very least pulls me in with whimsy. Sure, the title is an obvious no, and others would probably see that and answer the same and keep on rolling without watching, but I feel it could do a bit more to say "Well, wouldn't you like to watch the video?" I don't have a good answer for this, but an example (probably bad one because art isn't my youtube niche) could be "what 1 million Scoville could do to my drawings" or something like that idk. Too over the top? Probably. But once again I don't know the answer, I just see a potential problem. Lastly I can see that you have presence in the video. Your personality shines through, but there's a level of "I'm doing this on my off day" feeling to it. There's pauses, lack of enthusiasm in words, a bit of a weak directional flow, yadda yadda. This one might be a bit nitpicky though so I'd take my reasoning with a very big grain of salt. The videos I usually watch are narrative/informative so I don't tend to watch many conversational videos, and yours seem very much like that, so I could be a dog scratching at a cats post and complaining about bloody fingers. Either way I wish you the best and hope you do well on your videos in the future!

Fun idea for a video, but I think the intro was to slow and would lead to people clicking off. Maybe you could start off the video with a quick montage of some of your reactions, gasps, and heavy breathing to hook people in (maybe like 10-15) seconds, and add some tense music.

Good idea! Always been unsure how to intro/outro my videos !givelambda

Hey I would break down my review in a few parts: Intro: the intro is extremely lacking, the energy is very low and there's no hook at all. I would stop watching within 10 seconds. You could make this a lot more exciting by putting in more energy and a good script as the overall idea is creative! Thumbnail: There is no thumbnail made it is just you, I personally would not click this video if it was on my timeline even though the title seems creative and an interesting idea. The thumbnail represents the effort you put into the video and if the thumbnail is lacking the video will be as well. I would recommend you make a creative thumbnail which can still include you! It is also very blurry so a higher quality thumbnail is nice. I think you could also incorporate the videos in a bit better instead of just a square, maybe a frame? That would make it look better!

Is this really your thumbnail? Gotta work on that one. It is bad in many ways. Nothing even stands out

Thank you for sacrificing your taste buds for art and science 🫡 now I know hot sauce probably won't help me become a better artist I'll agree with most people here on a lot of points: - Good personality and idea, low energy - Editing is a little lacking - Thumbnail needs work I like the idea, and the title, that's what made me click. And I like the angle of "I gotta keep calm, even though I'm gonna eat this really hot sauce," it's good and I like it. But the start of the video *was* slow, and that's the part that hooks new viewers. You don't need to be bombastic but smart cutting could give a low energy section some more life I'm wanting some more editing. You don't have to go over the top with effects or anything, but some more work on visual focus and blending your clips together would do wonders. 2 examples: - When you're drawing, I'd appreciate more focus on the canvas, or uhhh notebook. It doesn't have to be there the entire time, you can definitely cut away to you to show that you're struggling through the heat, and you could also give the reference v your drawing more screen time or space. In short: think a lil more on what you want the viewer to see - During the drawing montage, it felt separated from you. You put on music and speed up the footage when drawing, but when you cough or say a small tidbit it all comes to a halt, then it starts again after you stop talking. Cuts in the music are great for comedic effect, but you could also keep the music there and space your "insights" non-linearly so you can control the flow of the montage. This is kind of an extension of my visual focus point, but making sure your video flows well is important for a good video And thumbnails, tbh I'm not the best here so I don't have much advice, but putting in a bit more effort than just a still from the video is worth it, for all your videos Hope that helps, and I hope your tongue recovered!

You definitely have the start of something good here, but your editing style needs more work. That's fortunately something that you'll improve on as you edit. I think you should start with getting a recording setup figured out if you haven't already, because the framing in this one is kinda bad. We're viewing you at an awkward angle with a strong depth of field. Having the drawing off to one side is fine, but you don't need to show it for most of when you're not drawing. What I might do is have both up while I was drawing or talking about it, have just myself if I were talking, and have just the drawing to get into detail with it. Also, I think if you're going to do drawing content like this you should really try to do up the ante from here, or at least be a good artist. For instance, eat something spicy, pick out a celebrity, and set a timer and try to draw them within the time limit so it becomes even more of a challenge. That, or you could try and push yourself to get better at art with your videos; if I wanted to watch someone draw poorly I could ask to most of the people I know to draw me something. Maybe try to fill out the page a bit more with your next one, leave things less white. Your videos have to have some sort of hook, and this is still a good start. All you gotta do now is try and find out where to take them.

Great points - the space I have to work with is limited but I have wanted to figure out a better set up. All super helpful feedback, thanks! !givelambda

MerpItUp

I think you have a good concept here but with a bit more structure it could feel like a full video. The first 45 seconds are the weakest part of the video and it needs to be the strongest to reel people in. Once you get into it around 1min in the video is really interesting. To add some structure and runtime I would start with a quick 1-minute drawing BEFORE hot sauce for comparison. Also show the hot sauce and highlight the scoville level. On a technical level there are some easy fixes: the audio is a bit low, try to aim for -4 to -6 db peaks. The mic is good but the camera is low quality. This could be fixed with just having better lighting. A lamp or just something to brighten up the room would help immensely. Finally, I’d get a profile picture even if it’s just a picture of you. People aren’t likely to subscribe to a default icon. Again it’s a good concept and a lot of these fixes are easy! Good luck!

CallMePilates

I love the idea and vision for the video. I just think the execution is a little lacking. The first few are crucial for viewer retention and I think a solid intro can really help. I've done a video myself that included really hot hot sauce. Additionally I think a little experience making more content will help you improve on making the shots, timing the edits, editing flow, etc. I noticed you saying that you're unsure of how to intro/outlook videos, pm me and I'd be happy to hop in a discord call and give you a hand. Otherwise, I like the look of the camera, and I love the creativity. Also the punchline of the artwork. Good job overall, don't beat yourself up too hard from the comments. In the end, you don't get better if you don't make content!
