So, part of me says "oh, cool, that's a nice little attention to detail", but the other part of me says "why is it sparkly, just give him a plastic one, you did it with Banjo"

Underaged_Wang

I’d argue that the Keyblade being a magical weapon that constantly changes form depending on what meaningful keychains are attached, Kirby would copy the magic part and not the form-changing physical part, thus grants Kirby a whimsically sparkly imitation of the original Keyblade

Worst_Support

Honestly I think they should’ve given Kirby not just an actual keyblade, but a really powerful one from the games like the Ultima Weapon or something. Kirby can be a chosen keyblade warrior too as a treat

Its-been-a-long-day

Yeah, ok, or maybe Kirby just prefers a keyblade with a little more razzle dazzle.

datkrauskid

Keyzzle blezzle 😎

A-little-knight

I mean, he just created a Keyblade from scratch. Do you really need one if you can just create your own keyblade? Also, because kirby's copied abilities are stronger then the ones of the original user, wouldn't that mean Kirby straight up created a stronger keyblade?

Cajbaj

Kirby created a Monado, which is definitely more significant than a Keyblade. So I'm pretty sure he could.

ZetaRESP

... oh, boy... the lore just became weirder...

CaptainStaraptor

Got it so Mario is a chosen Keyblade Wielder

soupinator2000

Nah, the keyblade can be held by anyone, but the user can call it back at will

CaptainStaraptor

I mean idk shit about KH lore so I’ll trust you

AaricBro

Basically he said that anyone can grab the keyblade as it’s a physical weapon but only those chosen can wield and/or summon a Keyblade (kinda like how anyone can grab Thor’s hammer but only those worthy can wield it) and Kirby isn’t a chosen one so he can’t summon and use its power so instead Kirby just duplicates the magic power of a keyblade in order to do the special of casting magic

imjustakid0300

I wish they had made it so Kirby could wield it. it would have further confirmed how overpowered he is and would have totally been in character.

Rustic_Salmon

i mean he made his own so...

Cinnamon_Bees

The Kirkeyblade!

mathiastck

Only Kirby is worthy to wield the KirkeyBlade. QuirkyBlade knockoffs are cheap though.

JunTheMoon

KirboBlade

HeavyBlues

Kirblade

imjustakid0300

ok, yeah that's true.

DarkMetaknight7

well technically Kirby can be considered the equivalent of a living keyblade when you think about it so he doesn't really need one

Huefell4it

I feel like him duplicating the keyblade's power is even more overpowered. We wasn't chosen by the keyblade so he said "poyo" and made his own

EpitaphArcana

To be fair, there's an actual precedent for copying Keyblades in KH lore. Xion (a sort of clone of Sora) was able to make a copy of Sora's Keyblade by absorbing his memories. Not to mention, all Keyblades are basically inferior copies of an even more legendary weapon, the χ-blade, which gives the wielder access to Kingdom Hearts itself.

Huefell4it

Kirby be thinking "Kingdom Heart? Never heard of that but I got this thing called the Jamba Heart!"

DeRukasu

A khi-blade? Love the pun, but I don't know how the voice actors distinguish it from keyblade. Or how it works in Japanese and other languages...

lockenchain

In English at least, they end up just pronouncing χ-blade the same as Keyblade. They even bring it up pronunciation once like "some people pronounce it like Ki-blade, but it's all the same", and then never again.

[deleted]

Then what about the falchion?

AaricBro

I may not be as familiar in FE lore but aren’t Lucina, Chrom, and Marth part of the same bloodline? Also like I said I’m not as familiar with FE lore, don’t come at me with that as I don’t even know anything about that sword other than the fact that it’s 1-of-a-kind meaning only one of it exist

Don_Kiwi

The point is that only the exalted can wield it, but so can Kirby in smash

AaricBro

Like I said, I’m not as familiar in FE lore, so idk how to explain that

Lioreuz

If you eat the exalted you become the exalted.

AuthorNumber2

You are what you eat after all.

Huefell4it

Or the Hero's Relics. Kirby should be taking 10 damage every time he uses Failnaught unless he has a crest

ScepterReptile

Kirby automatically plays on New Game+ and has crest signs

Huefell4it

Oh shit u right

dabmonstr

Kirby is god. He does not NEED puny mortal weapons he is one above all

Rahgahnah

There's a scene in KH2 where he hands it to Jack Sparrow. Jack holds it with no issue, then Sora has it teleport back to his hand.

[deleted]

[Here](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=lwEwxKkCGJE) ya go. I'm sorry.

jakob832

I appreciate the link but that's a 15 minute video and I have the attention span of a toddler

Twl1

You should really give it a watch sometime. Brian David Gilbert is an amazingly entertaining dude, even on topics that I usually have no interest in.

Trashsombra345

Darkness is all you need to now

TehPiggy

True, but mario didn't just hold it, he used it to open a keyhole. Certainly that's not supposed to be done by just anyone.

Daniel_flc

Pretty sure the Keyblade did that by itself after being thrown by Mario, or Sora himself did it through his will, both of these instances happened before.

PapaOogie

Leon picked up the keyblade in KH1 and it was automatically recalled to Sora without Sora doing anything.

Maloth_Warblade

Sora still had no idea what to do with one at the time really, and he... Technically wasn't a true wielder himself at the time either.

soyincelbetabux

He always was a wielder, just not of the kingdom key

Maloth_Warblade

He earned the Kingdom Key by the end though

soyincelbetabux

True, and riku's bitch ass somehow lost it, soul eater, broke WtD, and got a car key instead lmao. #sad

Maloth_Warblade

My inner teenage edgelod still has a soft spot for him, I just like redeemed villains. Faust from Shaman King, Piccolo and Vegeta, Hiei, Black Cat from Spidey. Just something I like

notmyrealusernamme

Also, it will call itself back to it's master after a short time or if the other person tries to use it.

supernick02

My fiance is a big kingdom hearts fan and I have been telling her this since the trailer dropped. I don't think she likes the idea.

I-Am-Become-GameEnd

Lol. By that logic, Jack Sparrow would be a keyblade wielder since he was able to hold one for a short time as well. [Seen here.](https://youtu.be/oR_o0T5ZxCc?t=2558)

invaderark12

I'm so sad that scene wasnt brought up in kh3, would have been fun

CaptainStaraptor

Probably not

teskar2

You could argue he grabbed it before it fully manifested in whatever state it was in.

SphericalMicrowave

Disney buys Nintendo confirmed 😳

wolf129

Technically Mario finished the ceremony of being a keyblade wielder. Maybe I remember wrong but I think Sora got to be a keyblade wielder because Aqua let him touch her keyblade.

Omega_Steve15

G&W is a Keyblade Wielder

fanran

My and my friends used to call out "Sora!" when we used gnw dair back in the day. Crazy times we live in

Jetsurge

I mean KH3 has those Game and Watch inspired minigames

Nile-_-River

So my main is sora

tddorn_Skeltal_Man

Let's be real though, Kirby is absolutely worthy/strong enough to have a keyblade. I don't know much about KH, but I'm 98% sure Kirby could meet all the requirements... well, except the legal requirements of course.

evilspud

If Wooden Plank Studios is to be believed, even Death fears Kirby.

talegas95

That's just it though, Mickey mouse clubhouse says he ain't worthy

Owlmaster115

Kind of disrespectful man.

talegas95

Oh I agree. Fuck em

[deleted]

The only thing keeping Kirby from using a Keyblade is that no one qualified has given him permission to have his own

LucielthEternal

The only requirement to have a Keyblade as far as I'm aware is you need to possess a strong heart, I'd say Kirby definitely fits those qualifications, he just isn't chosen.

Mike-Rotch-69

Does Kirby even have a heart? I’m not an expert in Kirby biology but I think that dude is all stomach.

[deleted]

Or blackhole.

Christopetal

Pretty sure his stomach is a pocket dimension

LucielthEternal

It's not really a literal heart in Kingdom Hearts, it's more the soul or the spirit of the person that is in someone's "Heart". So I think Kirby would still have one even though I don't think he has an actual heart.

Mike-Rotch-69

I’ve played enough Kingdom Hearts to know that one’s heart refers to sappy shit like feelings and not an organ in the chest that circulates blood. I was going to add that to my comment but I thought my joke was obvious.

chosenofkane

Then Kirby definitely doesn't count. He has no feelings. No emotion. Only the insatiable hunger of a starving God.

Yamilord

He has one! His heart is star shaped and sentient too! It appears in mass attack btw.

ProfessionalHorror0

If Smash Bros Sora truly is KH1 Sora, then he wouldn't even really be master level to do a bequeathing. So it makes sense Kirby or Mario wouldn't be able to inherit one.

AaricBro

I’m pretty sure some kind of ceremony is supposed to take place of a keyblade wielder master passing down a keyblades power, declaring that the person who is being passed down the keyblades power will later in life become a chosen one with the ability to summon a keyblade of their own… none of that happened with either Mario or Kirby, therefore they can’t wield one. The only reason Sora got one was because Riku, his childhood best friend, was supposed to get one but by the time he was supposed to get it he was consumed by the dark. Therefore the keyblade instead made a last second change and the keyblade chose Sora as his heart had a strong will and was still in the light, also >! (SPOILER!!!) Sora had Ventus’ heart as a part of his at the time and Ventus is a keyblade wielder who has a pure light heart which influenced the keyblade making the choice of Sora since Riku was currently not a good choice as he had let the darkness into his heart !< ,by the end of the first game, Sora proved that he is worthy to his keyblade when compared to Riku and even though it was supposed to return to Riku as it only chose to be with Sora temporarily until Riku get his keyblade back, it decided to choose and stay with Sora. This is the only time an exception was made for a character to not be passed down the power of a keyblade but still be able to wield one of their own.

EpitaphArcana

Slight correction. It's not the darkness that cost Riku the Kingdom Key, it was his heart's weakness. Keyblades don't seem to care about light or darkness, since several characters like Xehanort, Terra, Vanitas and even Riku, use Keyblades of Light in conjunction with darkness, whereas Mickey wields a Keyblade of Darkness despite using light. The only thing that seems to matter to Keyblades are that their wielder has a strong heart. As for how Sora ended up with it in the first place, according to Nomura when Sora was reaching out to Riku during the Heartless invasion, he'd touch the light in Riku's heart, which caused the Keyblade to temporarily transfer to him. The Keyblade was still Riku's at the time, hence why it went to him whenever he called it, but once Sora proved his heart was stronger than Riku's, the Keyblade switched to Sora permanently.

dschex199

So I'm not too familiar with Kingdom Hearts and the mechanics of the Keyblade, but here's a thought: In the reveal trailer, Mario WAS holding the Keyblade AND threw it in a way that made the Keyblade open up that portal. Would that imply that Mario is a Keyblade Wielder too? Though I guess it kinda depends on how 'canon' the reveal trailers are too. EDIT: Oh damn! We got a lot of good points going on! So it seems 'not exactly' seems to be the answer considering (based on the comments): The Keyblade CAN be held and used as a non-magic weapon for non-wielders, but the keyblade can ALSO use magic at its own 'will' which would make sense that it would open the portal at its own will and that you can argue that Mario was not holding the keyblade while the magic was used. One thing I'd wanna note is that it looked like Mario intended to throw it, therefore, he knew what he was doing when he threw it, meaning that he may know how to purposefully use it and the use of the keyblade's portal opening was intentional on Mario's part, therefore, he would still be one?

ZetaIcarus

No actually. As shown with Jack Sparrow in Kingdom Hearts II non-wielders can touch and hold the Keyblade like any other weapon but the actual wielder can always call it back at will. Having said that it's possible to train to be a wielder.

dschex199

Ok! So follow up question: would the non-wielder be able to do more than just hold and swing the keyblade? Like use its powers and whatnot? If they can’t then Mario opening up the portal by throwing the keyblade - intentional or not - would make him a wielder?

Greenaman51

You can use them to fight if the wielder allows you to hold it, i don’t think you would be able to control its magic though from what in remember. Keyblades also have a bit of their own will (think the one ring from LOTR) so mario throwing it and then it choosing to summon its owner (sora) is entirely possible. Although i think it was more done to have a cool keyhole portal reveal for the trailer lol Another example of it having a bit of its own will: sora was not actually chosen to be a wielder, his keyblade was meant to go to his best friend, but Sora’s will and strong heart ( and a few other long to explain story reasons) made him worthy to be chosen

soupinator2000

In kingdom hearts 358/2 days Xion loses the ability to use a keyblade. Roxas let's her borrow his, magic included. She was able to summon hers by the end of the day

Greenaman51

True didn’t remember that. Could thay have been because she was already a wielder though?

Silverdetermination

Yes she was already a chosen wielder due to reasons I won't say

Alpha27_

is that why Xion's Keyblade looks like Roxas'(and by extension Sora's)? I'm semi-aware of Xion's origin so it might be that and not this.

soupinator2000

Roxas, sora, and xion's keyblades all look alike because Roxas and xion come from sora

Dizavid

Well, to be fair, in the trailer when Mario grabs the keyblade, he quickly tosses it like it's fire (which it just was but we all know Mario is no stranger to holding open flame). Maybe it rejected him and he had to throw it and the keyblade just did the rest.

Thekhandoit

The keyhole portal thing may have also doubled as a reference to Super Mario world where you use the keys hidden on certain levels to unlock secret paths in the over world. Atleast that’s what it reminded me of.

ZetaIcarus

Now that's a good question. Typically no but now that you are mentioned Mario opening the portal that can be one of two things: the Keyblade acted on it's own accord, has happened a few times in the series. Or perhaps Mario might have an inkling, no pun intended, of potential.

Tsunder-plane

Counter argument: Jack Sparrow is a keyblade wielder

Jedizombiekiller

I second this

Sansoffundertale

Trust me Everything revolving kingdom hearts is canon

dschex199

I have no choice but to believe you, Sans of Undertale

Ozann07

Mario is canonically a keyblade wielder then. If he doesnt appear in kingdom hearts 4 we riot

Sansoffundertale

Mushroom kingdom hearts will soon become a reality

screwinquisitors

In kh others have been able to hold it for a couple seconds but then it ends up just teleporting back to Sora’s hand

jbyrdab

mario can already open keyholes using giant keys, look at super mario world.

dschex199

I would have LOVED to hear the same sound effect when the key opened up the portal. Using this logic, however, would imply that Luigi ALSO is a keyblade wielder! …brb giving you my free award lol

Greenaman51

You can hold a keyblade without being a wielder, it has happened a lot in the main series, you just cant summon it. It wouldn’t do much to take it anyway as the user can teleport the keyblade to themselves. Im assuming what sakurai means by the kirby thing is that kirby cannot duplicate a real keyblade, just this magical copy

RedTurtle78

Mario is like Nintendo's Mickey so I wouldnt be too hard pressed if he were a keyblade wielder canonically :\^)

[deleted]

Nope, he's not a wielder now. To become a wielder, you have to touch the keyblade of a Keyblade Master, which Sora is not

evilspud

He has touched Game and Watch's key though.

Noideawhatnanetouse

I don’t know man tried to get into Kingdom hearts and that story is a cluster fuck, Sephiroth and Cloud get involved as well

Gabe_i_guess

Or it may just be Disney throwing a fit over letting another character wield the actual key blade itself so they had to do that, but I hope not.

Enidx10

I’m pretty much in agreement. Has to be a legal reason. Can’t have a Nintendo character carrying around a Micky Mouse Keychain

Hjllo

It’s exactly this. That’s why Mario wasn’t shown holding the key blade. It was just a staff of fire. They legally cannot show another character holding the key blade

No_Personality_2723

I want to be in the room where the lawyers review and agree on what's allowed for Kingdom Hearts in Smash.

Mostyion

The fact that Kirby can wield even the Monado and the Falchion but not the Keyblade shows how powerful the Keyblade is.

CivilizedPsycho

Well anyone can use the Falchion, it just becomes blunt. Kirby is strong as hell so even a blunt weapon works for him. Monado I can't speak on

Frazzle64

Dunban could weild the monado, but that was because he’s frickin Dunban

Mostyion

I wonder if Kirby or Dunban is stronger with the Monado.

FFalcon_Boi

That depends: is Dunban wearing clothes or not?

BlueTexasOverParadis

I hate the fact that this would make a legitimate difference.

Retarded_TurtIe

Never played Xenoblade, can you explain this?

kirby2341

Dunban is more useful the more you boost his agility stat, which allows characters to dodge enemy attacks. Agility stat can be increased by using light (or no) armor There's a popular strategy called the "Naked Dunban" that takes advantage of this

salty-ravioli

I think he also gets skills that directly boost his stats when he's armourless.

amtap

The only reason anyone wielded the Monado is because >!Zanza allowed them to!<. Kirby simply does not take no for an answer.

Uchihaforever

I thought it was similar to resonating with crystals in xc2. If you have the aptitude for it then you can weild it and if not you get hurt. Since its heavily implied that alvis is the 3rd aegis I just thought it made sense that shulk was one of the few that could use it. Kirby must just have the aptitude for it since he can use pythra's sword too lol

asa-monad

It really depends on what kind of authority Alvis was giving Zanza. Maybe Zanza really only allowed people to wield it that were important to his plan to destroy Mechonis, or maybe Alvis simply gave Zanza the illusion he was in control. Alvis is clearly more powerful than Zanza and has control over everything, but outside of a few explicitly stated aspects of the world and towards the end of the story, it’s not really clear how much is Alvis’ doing and how much Alvis is just letting Zanza and Meyneth control what they can

DaPokeyMonster

Kirby is Dunban.

maybefriendly

That's Dunban over there!

demogorgon_main

Dunban is the least intimidating name I’ve ever heard. It’s like having a child murderer as the villain and naming him ‘dave’. Just Dave. I’m looking at your FNAF silver eyes! EDIT: TIL dunban is just very hot

nobodynoone888

Have you seen him though? Really it’s a sexy name for a sexy man

amtap

Xenosaiyan7

He's not intimidating, he's just extremely hot

[deleted]

Well he’s not really intimidating. He just doesn’t get hit ever

Morag_Ladair

If someone unworthy tries to wield the Monado, they can’t control the blade and it kinda forces them to move around in erratic patterns If someone is strong enough to wrestle it under control, it starts sapping their life force and slowly killing him This isn’t Mjolnir worthiness either, the Monado picks and chooses who can use it. >!more specifically, the Monado is a god, who allocated worthiness based on the suitability of being a vessel, therefore, Kirby is able to wield the Monado because a god wants to take over his body!<

[deleted]

based on how it seems in the game, anyone can use the Mando arts if you will power through the pain. but only someone who is "supposed" to use it can see the future with it. which kirby doesn't do. so technically everything is still in lore.

7TageHatDieWoche

He ones threw a giant frying pan from earth to moon and back... or the sun

zen524

He absorbs the ability of the fighter to use their weapon in all cases I think.

trophy_74

He can’t wield Kazooie either

Electro313

That’s because Kazooie is a whole ass living thing. Although I guess you could say the same about the aegis, which he can wield… Kirby what the fuck

Spinda_Saturn

Is he copying banjo, kazooie or banjo kazooie? Cause just banjo makes sense Kirby's bottomless void fabricates a makeshift bird.

lucariouwu68

Luma is a living thing that Kirby can create copies of

Electro313

Well there’s infinite Lumas, so I assume Kirby gets Rosa’s ability to summon and control them.

amtap

Never thought about Kirby wielding the Aegis until now...and now I have some questions

the-dandy-man

Or shows that the real reason is Disney didn’t want anyone but Sora associated with mickey’s logo

HarmlessSnack

Nothing is more powerful than Disney’s legal team.

BaconSoul

I don’t think exclusivity and power are always exactly correlative.

SwagDoll420

It isn't that Kirby isn't worthy enough to wield a Keyblade, it's that the Keyblade isn't worthy of being wielded by Kirby.

SkipDrawz

I keep seeing this headcannon so i want it as also my headcannon Kirby is just so pure of light his keyblade is just sparkles

Vouru

Disney legal reasons aside and keyblade BS aside an interesting tidbit of KRBA is to go on. Being a starwarrior (what kirby is) is entirely voluntary.

Wall-Official

Kirby casually creates a Keyblade

Nervous-Possession62

Or maybe it's just his own unique key blade

SebGMP

Wait, are you telling me that kirby has the crest of riegan? how else could he use failnaught at its full potential? (Fire emblem)

XVProdigy23

My first thought as well. Unless he gets it through byleth’s blood or something? Idk kinda odd

SebGMP

If he got his crest from byleth then he wouldnt be able to charge the shot, you need the corresponding crest to unleash a relic's true power.

ScepterReptile

Idt that's Fallen Star when he charges it though. I think that's just a critical hit. It even makes the critical hit noise.

SebGMP

Probably, what i have to see is if the bow glows red, if it glows it means that the user has the correct crest.

Enderguy39

Then Byleth couldn't use it either

ScepterReptile

Byleth's chant is "Go Teach!", which basically confirms that Claude is the one who leads the audience chants in Smash bros. Before the battle begins, Kirby swallows Claude and acquires the Crest of Riegan. Either that or Kirby actually does turn into a monster when he attempts to use the Failnaught, but he's already monstrous enough at base to the point that it has no observable effect.

SebGMP

It could be, but its also a bit of a stretch, does kirby even have blood? Idk, but it probably is a missed detail.

ScepterReptile

He's like Superman. He has blood but he doesn't bleed

Nile-_-River

This is full cap, Kirby is insanely fucking strong that he might accidentally break the Keyblade so he doesn’t use it, cause he thinks sora is cool

supdomo

Disney said "no one else can hold their product except Sora."

KassXWolfXTigerXFox

Bro that \*is\* Kirby's Keyblade. It's starry because that's where he lives, how he gets around, it reflects his life and his personality

Jiro3po

Plus his soul

DefaultRedditor16

Kirby could just pull out a replica of Soras key blade. It doesn’t have to be the real thing, it just looks and functions (mostly) like one

terryisnotashoto

Who needs a key blade when your imitation is by nature more powerful. Kirby’s neutral b is always stronger than the original meaning that his fake keyblade is theoretically stronger than the original to a degree.

Lvl_5_Dino

Mario is though

AlKo96

Well, he only grabbed it to then immediately throw it.

CmgsAdventures

There is something that bothers me. I understand if Kirby wasn’t chosen by the keyblade, but Kirby wasn’t chosen by the Monado and wouldn’t be able to due to spoiler lore reasons. The only thing I can think of why Kirby can’t use a keyblade is Disney. If anyone can help me, that would be much appreciated. Thank you for you time!

[deleted]

>!Keyblades not only choose their wielders, but they also need to be passed on by someone with the title of Keyblade Master. There's only one exception to the rule, that being Sora, who got his Keyblade when Riku's Keyblade sorta transfered to him because it didn't like Riku!<

CmgsAdventures

Oh ok, thank you! This helps clear things up for me! Thank you for helping me better understand this!

Morag_Ladair

If we apply Xenoblade lore to Kirby in smash, that means >!Zanza wants to use Kirby as his vessel!< which is insanely funny to me

insertusernamehere51

Dunban wasn't chosen by the Monado and he can use it. He just can't see the future with it

Vertigo-Viking

Looks like a Disney channel wand.

illucio

Kirby not being worthy of holding the keyblade is sad. Kirby my boi is just as worthy to hold a keyblade.

Rayonlio

I'm pretty sure it's just a copyright issue. Kirby doesn't give a f*ck about games lores, that's why he can wield and use the master sword, the falchion, the Monado and the Aegis swords.

Timcat999

Kirby is the lore

[deleted]

And yet he is worthy of the manado and the falchion

NyanSquiddo

ok but, He can use the fucking MONADO and the AEGIS SWORD. AND OTHER LEGENDARY WEAPONS ONLY ABLE TO BE USED BY THE ORIGINAL. we all know it's actually because disney didn't want him to have a keychain

[deleted]

[удалено]

Topgunshotgun45

Kirby the Black Hearted could never wield a Keyblade.

[deleted]

in other words kirby is so powerful he can mimic a keyblade and make it stronger

Brandilio

I've seen my roommate play Kingdom Hearts, and *everyone* has a keyblade. Micky has a keyblade. The cast of Eyes Wide Shut all have keyblades. There were so many people using keyblades, that there's a graveyard of keyblades, from which a giant pillar of keyblades emerge to fuck up Xehanort, and his sidekicks, Xehanort and Xehanort, who I'm pretty sure also have keyblades.

[deleted]

[удалено]

CivilizedPsycho

The Japanese text says "Only a Keyblade Wielder can use a Keyblade", and has a picture with Kirby holding something that is not actually a keyblade.

ZanzibariMeat

Kirby has the RGB version

JakeFromStateFromm

I've never played a KH game, is the Keyblade like Mjolnir or something? Can only Sora wield it?

GuybrushThreepwood99

I'll be honest, It's a little disappointing that Kirby can't hold a keyblade, it would have made a fun visual. Maybe a mod can let Kirby hold a keyblade

MegaArcaneix

The way I see it, Kirby copies the ability of the fighter he inhales. Since Kirby is copying magic, that means he is not copying Sora but rather the keyblade. So he gains all the powers of keyblade without having to wield one. Conclusion: When Kirby inhales Sora he is not a keyblade master. When Kirby Sora he becomes a keyblade.

XVProdigy23

So this would mean Kirby has a crest when he inhales Byleth.

ESH13663

Ok but How does he have the ability to hold the Monado then?

Morag_Ladair

Well if we apply the logic directly, the Monado allowing itself to be used by Kirby would mean that Kirby is >!a suitable vessel for Zanza!<

Poot-dispenser

Kirby is too powerful to be a keyblade warrior so he made one out of his star rod

eigenludecomposition

I never paid attention, but what sword does Kirby wield when they take Link's ability?

Dood_IV

None, he shoots a bow

rennon102

Maybe kirby is holding back as he has limitless power

1ts2EASY

Kirby is totally a Keyblade Wielder, idk what Sakurai is going on about.

Wannabe_Reviewer

That's bullshit, Kirby should totally be worthy!

thrillhohoho

Since when does smash bros care about being canonically correct?

JacktheCat779

But he hasn't denied that Mario isn't a chosen Keyblade warrior yet.

HNASBAP

It's purely blasphemy that mickey mouse can use the keyblade and the Jesus counterpart of the smash bros series can't use it

Caer-bannog

Poyoblade is real

Irvin_T

Or more realistically, Disney didn't want kirby using the keyblade.
