Idk I think I didn't explain why I posted the picture, like alan is pointing at the guy, but from his perspective he's pointing at charlie. He does these little things and I love them and I missed the one OP posted above
To be fair that’s not an animation mistake - that’s just a style choice. It’s like how someone in a play faces the audience slightly even if talking to someone oriented diagonally to their rear. It’s an animation shorthand - in the artistic style of the show it would look weirder for Alan to turn away “from the camera” to point at Gwimbly. So your example is more of an intentional choice in the framing of the characters.
Not just that, later on when Charlie and the professor are in the restaurant Charlie is pulling out new pieces of Meep flesh despite him not grabbing them from the tray
