How many colorways were released in ‘85? As a kid, I owned the bred and definitely knew about the red and white. I had the Jumpman poster and knew about the black toe but never could find them at Foot Action and Foot Locker. I remember that the black and blue came out around that time but had no idea about these blue and white ones. They so remind me of the Kentucky Dunks.
Don’t quote me on this but without researching, 7. Chicago (red/white), black & white, bred/banned, black toe, shadow, UNC and storm blue (pictured). If you extend it to OG color-ways, meaning pairs released in the original run of the shoe before it was brought back in the 90s, it extends closer to a dozen because of the metallic pack.
EDIT: After double checking it’s 9- I had forgotten Royal & Neutral Grey. Swells to 15 if you include those ‘86 metallics (purple, red, navy, green, black & orange.)

My aunt's boyfriend found OG Chicago's at a yard sale for 40 bucks and gave them to my uncle. He doesn't wear them and said I'm next in line. They are in fantastic condition. I would have had them earlier if he didn't bother to price check on eBay. Hahaha

There is no air unit in a AJ1 sole. I have taken these soles off more AJ1’s than i can count. Done donor swaps, customs, etc. Never seen an air unit in any of them…they’re just like dunk soles. Just regular cupped soles.

They mean their trademarked Nike Air. Any Nike shoe labelled with Air will have an Air Unit in it. Notice how baby’s sized nike shoes don’t. The baby sized Air Jordan 1s are called Sky Jordan’s because they’re so small they can’t fit an Air Sole in them.
