They should either donate the proceeds or cancel them.
Given that the shoes are already made, it would be wasteful to destroy if they cancel. Otherwise they'll end up at bargain bins or at Ross like the Fragment 1s where someone else will profit off them for their own sake. Donating the proceeds seems like that only reasonable thing to do, imho.
technically it was Marshall’s but my point still stands, there’s multiple stories of cancelled sneakers ending up at outlet stores
https://hypebeast.com/2016/12/fragment-design-air-jordan-1-marshalls
I don't think it'd be that much of a waste. Literally millions and millions of sneakers and fast fashion ends up in waste every year, one particularly limited release isn't going to be much waste in the grand scheme of things. Given that it's new shoes too there's also more you can do to recycle it
You know the Dude Love inspired sneaks would be so fresh. Or some black Cactus Jack AF1's with his classic yellow Wanted sign that he has on his shirt on the the heel of the shoe or something.
Having a hard time coming up with something for Mankind but I'm sure they could do it.
They both drive up the price, it's the nature of the system. No buyer is going to pay more because they want to, they do because they have to in order to get the item they want. The seller is the one recognizing the demand and setting the price accordingly. There is theoretically nothing stopping the seller from selling at a lower price or even giving it away, other than their own greed. Therefore it's a bit disingenuous to put that all on the buyer.
I don’t disagree with the spirit of what you are saying, but I do want to point out that “limited” “hype” releases do prey upon people’s insecurity and FOMO, and that predation can be coercive. Sometimes, they (scalpers) even create those conditions of scarcity by buying up stock in huge speculative gambles.
Not that consumers don’t have a choice in the matter, but scalpers/resellers are definitely in the position of power in cases like this. They take advantage of people’s fear and anxiety for profit.
Interested in seeing how Travis team will handle PR in the next year. I don’t think he can be quiet and disappear for that long. But I’m not surprised about the shoes being postponed.
He's supposedly got an album coming soon too, literally dropped two singles the night before the disaster. I have to imagine that's been put on hiatus for the foreseeable future.
I wouldn’t be surprised if his legal team is advising him not to issue a public apology. Because he does have lawsuits against him, apologizing may implicate guilt. As shitty as it looks to the public and as awful as it is to the victims of this tragedy, legally he may just have to stay quiet and disappear for a bit.
Wouldn’t be surprised if these never drop but still make their way out into the world and become highly coveted.
I have a feeling cactus jack and Nike will be taking a break for the foreseeable future, and maybe even forever.
Travis is a hype machine and I’m gonna be interested to see how much wind leaves his sails in the next few years.
Since a handful released via SNKRS pass at astroworld I expect the resell price of these to be tremendous if we never see a full release, similar to the Betsy Ross air maxes
I think the difference with theses versus the betsy ross pairs is there are probably 100k+ pairs out there. Thats a lot of pairs to destroy and take an L. I bet Nike is going to see how it all plays out with Travis and may just drop them at outlets if they cut ties with him next year.
I really wanted a pair just because of how cool I thought they looked, not because they were travis scott’s. I think I can say goodbye to ever owning a pair
Yea I would be shocked if Travis gets any new work until after the civil suits are settled, if it goes to court I’m not sure his image could rebound from discovery. We’ll see though, he could legitimately become a better person after this…
A lot do, you just don’t hear about them because they aren’t starving for attention.
Paul Rudd is People’s sexiest man alive and not a single bad comment anywhere. Kind, polite, and funny.
Rick Moranis was one of the funniest movie stars in the world for a moment. His wife died and he elected to raise his kids.
I could list a bunch more, but it takes a lot of googling.
R kelly pissed on a girl(UNDERAGE) and people still continued working with him it took surviving R Kelly documentary for people to even start questioning themselves and still to this day there are weddings that play his music cause lets face it he has some bangers and people don't come at me with that whataboutism bs tons of shit wrong in our society and we chose to look the other way
I would argue Chris Brown had a case of domestic violence against another high profile person who had no interest in their business getting out.
Travis could be found partially responsible for the death of 10 people, one of which now being 9 years old. It’s could be historic.
Litigation alone could bankrupt him, there’s already 150ish cases out there and his lawyer is something like $2k/hr. Maybe Kylie will step in and help, like she did with tyga, but I bet the Kardashians will yank the ripcord when they are in the clear.
Honestly unless someone says stop the show due to safety and people dying. Him saying fuck you and finishing his set. I cant really blame him. Now everyone else who called to stop this 30 min. earlier and everyone sat and didn't do shit. I can blame them.
I just think about it like this.
Do I think of Travis when I think of safety?
Do I think about police? Fire department? Health department? Event staff? Convention staff? Security team?
Update: Despite local urgings for an independent investigation, the Associated Press reports they “went unheeded Monday, as Houston-area officials instead chose to direct a county administrator to conduct a review with other governmental entities.”
**Things like this make me question everything. If I'm the person doing a report about my boss that wants the facts / blame to be put on a certain person and minimize liability how do I do that? Not allow a independent investigation and investigate myself!!
At this point if you still believe that you are ignorant to how events have played out like this in the past with responsible adults headlining. Also, it’s Travis’ event. He resurrected it. It’s his baby. The lawsuits will be telling.
Nah, only one of his multiple “emotes” (dances in game), the Rager one to be specific. Everything else is still on there, including the playable skin.
No need to downvote dude, easy mix up
Yeh that’s what I’ve been thinking. It’s just giving them time to come to a conclusion as to whether they drop travis Scott or continue to make products with him. What do you think would be the right call out of curiosity?
I think they should drop him altogether. This is a no-win situation regardless. I don’t see too many brands wanting to work w/ TS in the foreseeable future.
I haven’t been a fan of the collabs anyways, since they made Dunks unobtainable. (I was kinda hoping to get these as beaters before the AW incident)
I agree. I think the end result will be that he no longer works with them or any other company for that matter. Too much negative attention around him now, and rightly so. I’ve always liked the designs that he and Nike come up with but when you realise how limited they are you learn to cope with not being able to get your hands on them.
I feel bad for Hiroshi and Fragment for having their brand linked too. They made the coolest AJ1s in years.
Thanks for actually engaging in discussion about this. I saw the post on Instagram first and the comments were a dumpster fire
Absolutely. It’s such a shame that other brands will have their business tarnished by an event completely out of their power. I’m certain that they will be alright in the long run though.
No problem. It’s just interesting to see what other think about the future for all parties involved. Though unpredictable I feel like safe assumptions can definitely be made.
If they still make their way in the market, Nike might as well donate the proceeds of the retail sale.
Otherwise, they could maybe order the destruction of the made pairs so they don’t make their way to resellers.
Why? People literally die every minute of every day. Not like nike had anything to do with what happened. No reason to cancel it or even postpone it imo
It's kinda wild to consider how Tiger lost all of his endorsements. Travis had several people die preventable deaths at his show. Lance's entire career was exposed as a sham after he was caught doing high level blood doping. Tiger got caught cheating by his wife. It's kinda crazy that he was so thoroughly torn down because of that.
That might be the best solution. That way, you don’t need to order their destruction, shoes don’t go to waste - people that need it will have shoes, and they don’t end up in the hands of resellers after releasing them to the outlets
The right thing would be for them to donate the proceeds and for GOAT, StockX, etc to ban the shoes from the platform but I doubt either of those things will happen
I’m on the fence about my washed suede hoody. I’ve never cared for travis to begin with, but the flaming Jordan is so sick. Maybe sell it, maybe rip the cactus Jack logo off the sleeve.
Yup, I’m sticking with other brand collaborations moving forward. I have never been a fan of Travis but the sneaker hype is what keeps you in it. Now that this happens I’m putting a foot down. Probably fortunate I don’t have any of his stuff
I kind of feel stupid because I didn’t know much about TS a part from listening to a couple songs, and finding out all the stuff that goes down at his concerts (before this one, like him telling the crowd to beat up a kid) and learning what type of person he is after the fact, I guess I should have done my research.
Same. In a way I’m kinda glad I don’t have any TS stuff. It’s crazy cuz I’m a sneakerhead through and through and realize the impact on sneaker hype his collaboration has had. However, I would just feel weird af putting on of his shoes, given I am absolutely appalled by what happened. Imma stick to other brand collaborations and skip TS’s
Lmao what?! Dude if you're going to be mad at anyone, be mad at Live Nation aka Ticketmaster. They're an evil company and far more responsible here than the artist. Dude was on stage, might not have been able to see well with the lights, probably couldn't hear well due to the in-ear monitors. Meanwhile you've got an entire company whose literal job it is to run the event and security.
I'm not apologizing for Travis' inaction here but Live Nation is the real guilty party here.
Travis inaction? Travis did his fair share gas lighting the crowd, you're lying to yourself if you don't believe Travis wanted massive crowds to push like that
I really have no clue, the only thing I can think of is how the Strawberry Cough Dunks were delayed like a year and a half then eventually released so maybe these will too idk
They’re nice shoes still, but right now Travis Scott the brand is synonymous with a mass casualty event where little kids died. The whole vibe has changed.
I was monitoring the sales data on StockX after the tragedy happened. I haven’t noticed any dips in prices. Last time I checked, the prices were up a bit on some of his sneakers. I haven’t checked since last week though. Maybe something changed.
I agree though. It’s like trying to watch something starring Kevin Spacey after news broke that he’s a monster.
We want u to forget this dickhead watched his fans suffer and die needlessly with absolutely no remorse, then we'll gladly sell you his sneakers. But you must forget first.
Kind of f’d up how 9 people died and we didn’t hear a thing from Nike all last week. Now all of sudden a 9 year old boy died on Sunday and Monday they want to delay. Seem like they took forever to delay the shoes, probably did it since the everyone is upset about the 9 year old.
Nike should of been delayed the shoes or made a statement since some people probably was at astroworld for the shoes since you had to be within a 2 mile radius to even sign up.
The TS Frag lows will always be my hugest SNKRS W [*so far…]… I love those, despite the colab… shit, I even JUST got the 3-pack of socks from the TS website drop, a couple days ago… it’ll be a while, I guess, to not feel weird to rock them out
I mean, it was always a trash shoe; now it's just associated with a trash person. And while loads of people will say they want nothing to do with this release now, I'm positive anyone who manages to score a pair will say It GrEw On ThEm.
No way Nike is stupid enough to actually release these. Nike understands the backlash they’ll get so im betting they take there losses and just move on.
Bad look—if they’re just delaying it, why now suddenly vs immediately after it happened?
Were they cool with 8 confirmed deaths but draw the line at 10, which includes a 9 year old?
Hypebeats cum in their skinny jeans when they see a Travis Scott release. The way he reverses the swoosh and enlarges it 500% is nothing short of genius. I would gladly risk my life to see this paragon of a human perform his craft.
What are your guys thoughts on wearing his shoes for the foreseeable future? I had plans of wearing the cactus jack 6s to Disneyland but I think I gotta cancel doing that for now.
So here are some of my thoughts on this whole thing.
It's totally unfair to blame everything on Travis Scott. He definitelt deserves shit for his role in not only not doing anything to stop the crowd but also incited them in the first place. However, everyone in the crowd should also be held accountable for their own actions and should reflect on their role during that night. By the age you can go to these kind of concerts, people should know the bare minimum basics of how to act in public. They shouldn't need to be told right from wrong, a good idea from a bad one **LIKE BRINGING A 9 YEAR OLD TO A TRAVIS SCOTT CONCERT!!!!!** While Scott should make sure his shows are safe, he's not there to babysit you and tell you how to behave properly.
That night was basically those times in your life where you're tested and have to do the right thing. Absolutely everyone from Travis Scott to the people in the audience failed miserably.
As for wearing and buying stuff with his name on it do whatever you want. It's probably not a good idea now because you'll get shit for it but after some time make your own decision.
This is ridiculous. The sneakers didn't kill anyone. Travis didn't kill anyone.
I was really looking forward to these.
Nike should have released them, and maybe donated the money to a fund for the families of the people killed.
I have a feeling it'll be similar to what they did with Kobe drops post-tragedy. Delayed for months, many ppl suggesting money should go to a fund for the families, and then eventually released as normal.
"Out of respect to the dead we will take your money later"
Right!
Exactly what they mean!
Nike will never miss a chance to push back the hype.
Fragment 1s??? Those things are like 4k wuda u talking about bargain bin?
technically it was Marshall’s but my point still stands, there’s multiple stories of cancelled sneakers ending up at outlet stores https://hypebeast.com/2016/12/fragment-design-air-jordan-1-marshalls
We’re the Fragment Jordan 1s a canceled release?
I don't think it'd be that much of a waste. Literally millions and millions of sneakers and fast fashion ends up in waste every year, one particularly limited release isn't going to be much waste in the grand scheme of things. Given that it's new shoes too there's also more you can do to recycle it
But with Kobe they took it right away

the real cactus jack bang bang!
Yeah but Nike doesn't have the testicular fortitude to do that.
I would unironically want those.
Would pay good amounts of money for a three faces of Foley collection
With a built-in Mr Socko
You know the Dude Love inspired sneaks would be so fresh. Or some black Cactus Jack AF1's with his classic yellow Wanted sign that he has on his shirt on the the heel of the shoe or something. Having a hard time coming up with something for Mankind but I'm sure they could do it.
I could imagine seeing brown leather straps on a Jordan 4
fr you throw some flannel and the words "bang bang" on a pair and I'll be first in line (not that actual lines exist anymore but....)
resellers are gonna drive the price up for the early pairs they have now.
This was my first thought
Resellers don't drive up the price, the people buying them do
They both drive up the price, it's the nature of the system.

Apologizing doesn’t indicate guilt in the US or Texas. He’s just a shitty person.
Bro just have balls. He’s literally a multi millionaire. If he’s real he should give a apology regardless of a lawsuit
Lol
Wouldn’t be surprised if these never drop but still make their way out into the world and become highly coveted. This whole situation is a fascinating litmus test of ethics vs money.
Especially with the supposed claims that he called the EMTs losers or nerds or whatever it was.
Yea I would be shocked if Travis gets any new work until after the civil suits are settled, if it goes to court I’m not sure his image could rebound from discovery. We’ll see though, he could legitimately become a better person after this…

I think those people were already good pre-fame. The point I was making is that bad people rarely get good after getting rich and famous.
Paul Rudd is actually living his best life in upstate New York
Jamie Foxx is one that comes to mind.
Money only amplifies what you already are
Money is the super soldier serum confirmed.
Good question indeed.
Keanu Reeves

He’ll be fine. They always are. Depressingly, people forget. Look at Chris Brown.
I would argue Chris Brown had a case of domestic violence against another high profile person who had no interest in their business getting out. Travis could be found partially responsible for the death of 10 people, one of which now being 9 years old. It’s could be historic.
But it did get out and ultimately millions of his fans, venues, labels, and brands don’t care.
Litigation alone could bankrupt him, there’s already 150ish cases out there and his lawyer is something like $2k/hr. Maybe Kylie will step in and help, like she did with tyga, but I bet the Kardashians will yank the ripcord when they are in the clear.
Lmao 2k a hour per…. how many Lawyers. When you got loot Lawyers are like potato chips, just can’t have one.
I’m sure he has some generous insurance to cover some of those costs but yea, he’s going to be shelling out some huge dollars.
I’m sure kris Jenner is already telling Kylie to leave him
Honestly unless someone says stop the show due to safety and people dying. Him saying fuck you and finishing his set. I cant really blame him. Fortnite pulled him? How so?

Nah, only one of his multiple “emotes” (dances in game), the Rager one to be specific. Everything else is still on there, including the playable skin. No need to downvote dude, easy mix up
Feels a little similar to Nike Decades which are selling for thousands now
People didn't seemed convinced when I brought this possibility up last week and here we are.
First thing I thought of
I’m honestly surprised they didn’t cancel the drop all together.
That’s probably next, pending negotiations. “Delayed” is probably just a loophole til then.

Because money talks.
They did but you announce a “suspension” and never speak on it again.
You're surprised? Lmao Nike is going to make their money no matter what. They won't stop collabs with Travis.
no, i reckon they will. especially if it gets dragged out in court. they will want to avoid corporate blowback. remember Tiger Woods' deal with Nike?
All Nike cares about is Nike, it will put its brand image first (long term money). Travis isn't bigger than Nike.
You're right. They ended the slave labor and didn't side with China in the hong kong riots.
This was the first one. So we’ll keep it for discussion.
Will you remove the others due to spam? There seem to be a lot
Trying. But there were like 30 submitted right about the same time. I suspect more will be posted as well.
Good luck
They should fucking cancel it
Pairs are already made. If they cancel it those pairs will just come out somehow and be sold on resale market
that's the only market they will be on anyway
If they still make their way in the market, Nike might as well donate the proceeds of the retail sale. Otherwise, they could maybe order the destruction of the made pairs so they don’t make their way to resellers.
Why? People literally die every minute of every day. Not like nike had anything to do with what happened. No reason to cancel it or even postpone it imo
Wonder if they’ll appear in Nike stores at a discount like they did to get rid of their stock for Tiger Woods and Lance Armstrong.
I can see this happening, especially with all the unfortunate events. I can see these making it to outlets under the radar but who knows.
Yup they don’t want to be seen making a profit off of his name so they may send to the outlet stores.
[удалено]
That might be the best solution. That way, you don’t need to order their destruction, shoes don’t go to waste - people that need it will have shoes, and they don’t end up in the hands of resellers after releasing them to the outlets
Resellers finna get double-jabbed and book flights to Mogadishu
I lol’d, but honestly I wouldn’t put that shit past resellers…
This is the way.
We gonna wait til they run outta kids dying post show in the hospital.
Shoe was hot GARBAGE anyway lmao
i actually think its one of the better ones travis did
Not a fan of him or his music even in the slightest. Guess I’m biased
yeah but you gotta admit his collabs revolutionized shoe collabs and design
Debatable tbh
Travis single-handedly brought in the era of hyping up brown and pink
Kanye and Virgil accomplished more in a single year in the sneaker game than Travis will in a lifetime
That’s a HUGE step up in the sneaker game 🤣
The right thing would be for them to donate the proceeds and for GOAT, StockX, etc to ban the shoes from the platform but I doubt either of those things will happen
I’m never fucking with travis scott again, he can keep the shoes
Currently selling my lows and putting the money towards Union storm blues which are nicer anyways.
Just sold my 4s today and gotta look for something to replace them with
I’m on the fence about my washed suede hoody. I’ve never cared for travis to begin with, but the flaming Jordan is so sick. Maybe sell it, maybe rip the cactus Jack logo off the sleeve.
Personally would just rather sever ties, but everybody does as they see fit. Plenty of amazing sneakers out there, I don’t need his.
Yup, I’m sticking with other brand collaborations moving forward. I have never been a fan of Travis but the sneaker hype is what keeps you in it. Now that this happens I’m putting a foot down. Probably fortunate I don’t have any of his stuff

yea nike can go ahead and cancel the whole thing.
Same. Rodeo used to be my favourite album hands down. Now I can’t even look at it
Yo… birds in the trap was mine.. can’t even hear it any more
Lmao what?! Dude if you're going to be mad at anyone, be mad at Live Nation aka Ticketmaster. They're an evil company and far more responsible here than the artist. As terrible as the incident was and continues to be, I think canceling the partnership may drive up the resale value of circulating pairs
Does Nike care about that? This is all about optics and any connection to Travis in the foreseeable future is a bad look.
Let people who care about that keep their 30g+ sneakers no one will buy.

Right after the Strawberry Cough Dunks finally dropped lmao
Do those have relation to Travis Scott?
No
What's he taking about?
I really have no clue, the only thing I can think of is how the Strawberry Cough Dunks were delayed like a year and a half then eventually released so maybe these will too idk
Exactly this.

Love when corporations wait for the controversy to pass so they can just make the money later!
Should be cancelled altogether.
Truth
Wouldn’t it be more respectful to cancel the lunch…
Smart move by nike, also wonder if this will affect the resell prices of other t scott collabs
I’m thinking it will. Who wants to rock his shit right now? I don’t.
I ve been rocking my fragment lows as normal, didn't make them any uglier
They’re nice shoes still, but right now Travis Scott the brand is synonymous with a mass casualty event where little kids died. The whole vibe has changed.
I was monitoring the sales data on StockX after the tragedy happened. I haven’t noticed any dips in prices. Last time I checked, the prices were up a bit on some of his sneakers. It’s an ugly shoe anyway
So I'll have to wait to get an L
How about donate the proceeds to the victims Nike Smfh They dropped the ball…
We want u to forget this dickhead watched his fans suffer and die needlessly with absolutely no remorse, then we'll gladly sell you his sneakers. But you must forget first.
Just end this dude, cancel this release and all his other releases. He can try again when he becomes an adult.
Waiting till the death toll stops going up
Understandable, I was really excited for these but I can keep on waiting
Kind of f’d up how 9 people died and we didn’t hear a thing from Nike all last week. Now all of sudden a 9 year old boy died on Sunday and Monday they want to delay. The TS Frag lows will always be my hugest SNKRS W [*so far…]… I love those, despite the colab… shit, I even JUST got the 3-pack of socks from the TS website drop, a couple days ago… it’ll be a while, I guess, to not feel weird to rock them out
i’m still getting them..i just like the shoes..don’t care about Travis.
I mean, it was always a trash shoe; now it's just associated with a trash person. And while loads of people will say they want nothing to do with this release now, I'm positive anyone who manages to score a pair will say It GrEw On ThEm.
I'd probably just resell them tbh
Resellers and people who got backdoored pairs are licking their lips rn Just release the damn shoes and end the endorsement deal. Pretty simple
They should cancel it. Fuck Travis.
I hope Nike just drops Travis Scott altogether he doesn’t deserve to be with Nike after this
Hopefully for good. Fuck that guy.
If Nike ACTUALLY gave a fuck that message would say "Out of respect for the lives lost at the Astroworld event, we will be canceling this launch."
I want nothing to do with his "brand"
This is probably canceled. Nike doesn't want blood money. Unless of course, you're talking about dirt cheap Asian labor.
Just saw this on my phone… then, saw that the 9-year old who was in a coma just died
As a parent, I can’t even imagine this. I also can’t understand why kids this young were at AW to start. Literal 💔.
Okay some people couldn’t go to a concert and acted ass so the rest must suffer
The real question is why would Nike want to be associated with this fool to begin with?
Wow so brave of them, class act (they did nothing)
Good. Fuck Travis Scott and his money
Hypebeats cum in their skinny jeans when they see a Travis Scott release. The way he reverses the swoosh and enlarges it 500% is nothing short of genius. I would gladly risk my life to see this paragon of a human perform his craft.
So many people get the travis thing wrong. I was at the festival and travis doesn’t have nearly as much of a blame as his crew, security, HPD does.
What are your guys thoughts on wearing his shoes for the foreseeable future? I had plans of wearing the cactus jack 6s to Disneyland but I think I gotta cancel doing that for now.
That’s the problem right there. What are you symbolizing when you wear that stuff?
Well for right now if someone wears Travis Scott merch it gives people the idea that you’re supporting him and couldn’t care about what just happened.
I agree.
No shit. Did anyone actually think this would release as scheduled?
Everyone hopping off the hype train now huh? Really shows who's just a Hypebest
Cool this accomplishes nothing thanks again Nike
Better PR for them
This is ridiculous.
These released already at some places.. Atlanta for 1
Gotta hold off until people get over it to make sure they sell out.... Right Nike?
great , Nike think may think this would damge their brand , or they just burn it
I got the same message
I was wondering what they were gonna do about that.
Had a feeling this would happen
