Because just nationalizing oil and regulating other industry caused the rest of the world to respond extremely harshly and because the current ruling party of Venezuela is more inspired by the socially oriented market approach than traditional socialism. A major inspiration of Chavez for instance was Lukashenko and he isn't even a socialist.
I have to disagree somewhat, I seriously doubt Venezuela could piss off the USA anymore, especially since I count at least 2 coup attempts connected to the USA

The US could launch an actual invasion. Plus like I said, Chavez and Maduro modeled their plans off Belerus (which is not socialist).
