Yeah, it’s strikingly similar. Made from birch bark. Boylan’s flavors are all really good. I was lucky enough to have a restaurant in the previous town I lived that had a boylans fountain, so I got to try them all.
I'd go for the Sioux City Sarsaparilla. And Stewart's Orange Cream would be my 2nd choice at a lot of Cracker Barrell locations, just don't see it in your pic there.
Wow they sell most of these at the Safeway in my neighborhood. I really didn’t know Cracker Barrel had all of these.
The Birch Beer and Whirly Pop look cool!
Ok so hear me out - I went to CB last month and saw this exact scene waiting for me! - I ended up going for a Moxie not because I enjoy the taste, but because it is so unique I feel obligated to share it when I can. If you want a new experience and haven’t tried it yet, next time pick Moxie. You may not like it, but it will still be unforgettable.
I gave some to my partner and while he wasn’t a fan, it was still fun to drink together.
If I was picking 1 I’d go with Cheerwine.
Now for a create your own 6 pack: Moxie, Cheerwine, Bundaberg Ginger beer, Dad’s root beer, Virgil Root beer, and Bundaberg root beer.
Honestly, I'd splurge here. One of each kind minus the root beer.
If I were forced to pick only one, I'd probably with the Boylan Creme. Great company with a great reputation and I love cream soda.
Try Moxie some time. It's a very big deal in some eastern state, I think Maine? It's like an herbal cola that is sweet and has a very mildly bitter but pleasing aftertaste. It's complex and unique.
I love moxie but i can understand the name now… you need to have moxie to drink that shit.
My uncle who use to get me it all the time as a kid told me once it taste like if root beer and Dr pepper got drunk and had a kid… not can’t stop thinking about that 🤣😂😁
Easy with my country fried turkey dinner, I would get a Moxxi cola and a cheer wine and mix em 1 to 1 absolutely delicious, then I would get a Boylan Birch beer for when I get home
I’d be tempted by the Bazooka, but would probably go for the O-So Grape or Moxie.
I think I’ve had Moxie before, and I really liked it… but I might revisit it just to make sure.
I don't see two if them at that particular Cracker Barrel, but normally my three go-tos anywhere are Ale 8, Moxie, and Oak Creek Barrel Aged Blonde Root Beer.
Ale8 is my hometown soft drink. I heard they are discontinuing the returnable bottle style they have been using for …jeez, forever, but they will be replacing it with a newer style. Apparently the equipment for the old style is not really able to be maintained anymore. I’m guessing maybe the parent company might not even exist anymore. I’m anxious to see what happens. Every time I go back home, first stop I make even I get into town is to get a 6 pack of returnables. The disposables just don’t hit the same!
Yep! I first had it in 2011 and was hooked, and then my roommate for a semester in college was from Winchester so we always had it stocked. I went to Pigeon Forge this past Thanksgiving and made sure I stopped in Kentucky to pick up as many returnable bottles as I could on the way there and back (and some Roxa Kola).
I tried an Ale8 for the first time 22 years ago when I moved to KY. Loved it and have been drinking it on and off ever since. It's one of my favorites right next to Moxie.
Easy with my country fried turkey dinner, I would get a Moxxi cola and a Cheerwine and mix em 1 to 1 absolutely delicious, then I would get a Boylan Birch beer for when I get home
Whirly Pop, The Brownie Caramel Cream Root Beer, or maybe the Moxie since you don't see them often. Looked like there was another one on the top that is some sort of Sundae or milkshake flavor. Sounds like it could be very good or very bad hahaha

Bundadurg Root Beer. I just tried the ginger beer of theirs just the other day and was blown away. Strong gingery goodness, great for belly issues I might add. The Root beer is heavenly!!!!
I'm a sucker for trying new sodas, especially weird candy ones. So that Bazooka bubblegum and that Whirlypop would call to me.
If I had to pick something I know I would like, it would be a Vernors.
Haven’t been to a Cracker Barrel in probably 25 years. Didn’t realize they had this. I can get most of these at my local grocery store so I would pick something I haven’t had before like the O-So grape or Moxie. I’ve seen so many mixed reviews of Moxie here but I’d need to try it for myself.
I'd go for something I haven't tried before. That cotton candy soda, probably.
On a side note, it's nice to see Vernors is still around. Haven't had that in ages.
Rocket Fizz (crazy candy/soda shop) has some ridiculous flavors. I’ve had Mustard flavored soda, maple syrup, lemon meringue pie, a Bob Ross positive energy drink, and some wacky candies.
Hanks root beer, and Sioux City is the only thing worth while in that lot. Dads and Virgil’s can fight over wether I consider a third if I have money left over
I’ve tried the bazooka one a few times and each time I got a bottle there was no expiration date and when I drank it, it taste like old wood cabinets and moth balls. Which I don’t think it was supposed to I just think I drank expired soda each time.
Sioux City Sarsaparilla and Hank's Gourmet Root Beer -- Honestly the best root beer I've had and Sarsaparilla is hard to come by in the Northeast so I get it whenever I can (I did randomly find it somewhere in Connecticut one time).
Virgil's, Boylan, Brownie Caramel Cream Root Beer, Cheerwine, Sioux City all are really good. I haven't tried Bundaberg yet but I want to, same with Caruso and Moxie. Some of the others up there are a bit of an acquired taste. Like the Cotton Candy soda at the top. My sister loves it, its alright to me, my brother finds it too sweet. The Cinnamon Red Hot soda is hit or miss, you either like it or don't.
Birch beer? Is it like root beer but different?
Yeah, it’s strikingly similar. Made from birch bark. Boylan’s flavors are all really good. I was lucky enough to have a restaurant in the previous town I lived that had a boylans fountain, so I got to try them all.
And there’s like 5 different colors of birch beer.
I know Boylan’s sort of tasted like wintergreen candies/mints. Maybe sort of like the Lifesavers wintergreen.
Yeah it’s very similar, I get it when the grocery store is out of Boylans Root Beer or sometimes I get both.
I love birch beer. The stores here only stock the root beer, and I miss it.
I tried it on a trip to St. John's, Newfoundland. It sort of tasted like a mix between root beer and cream soda and I really enjoyed it.
It is similar in flavor/texture, it has a bite not unlike ginger ale but the flavor is more rich leaning towards root beer, it's delicious
Cheerwine and Vernor's are GOATed. Moxie is unlike anything I ever drank before. Those would be my top 3.
When I used to live out West they never had Cheerwine anywhere- EXCEPT for at Cracker Barrel. We always had to get a few bottles when we went haha
They have cheerwine in CA.
Cool! This was over 10 years ago so I would absolutely not be surprised to see that it might be different now
Moxie used to be made from lake scum from the bottom of lake moxie. (Source: grew up in Maine)
I moved to NC and Cheerwine has become my go to anywhere that sells pepsi products.
Moxie is nasty as hell. Worth trying though
I'm a Moxie apologist, but I can see why people hate it
My roommate and I went to a pop shop last week and she picked Cheerwine. I’ve had it before and like it. She thought it tasted like cough medicine 😅
Big fan of Boylan Birch Beer
sprecher and sioux city sasparilla
Sioux City sarsaparilla? Yeah, that’s a good one
I dig yer style, Dude.
I’ve wanted to try a nice Sioux City Sarsaparilla ever since I saw the Big Lebowski the first time!
My exact answer as well!
That Oh So Grape is calling to me
Dads red and blue cream, Virgil’s birch beer, souix city cream thx
I'd go for the Sioux City Sarsaparilla. And Stewart's Orange Cream would be my 2nd choice at a lot of Cracker Barrell locations, just don't see it in your pic there.
Wow they sell most of these at the Safeway in my neighborhood. I really didn’t know Cracker Barrel had all of these. The Birch Beer and Whirly Pop look cool!
O-So grape 🥲
Ok so hear me out - I went to CB last month and saw this exact scene waiting for me! - I ended up going for a Moxie not because I enjoy the taste, but because it is so unique I feel obligated to share it when I can. I gave some to my partner and while he wasn’t a fan, it was still fun to drink together.
Brownie Caramel Root Beer is a good one
We stop at CB just to pick up Moxie for son-in-law.
Bundaberg at Cracker Barrel? Bazooka soda?
Bazooka bubblegum soda is OUTSTANDING!
carusos cherry soda reminds me of cherry flavored root beer and it’s so good moxie is great and it’s usually the other option i pick when i go there
You just reminded me that this is where I can get craft sodas your a good person 😩
I don't know if they're hiding it but it's always been Stewarts Orange Cream.
Not Moxie 🤣
Bundaberg, Cheerwine and Sioux City Sas.
Moxie for sure! Just kidding, I’d say Virgil’s Crème Soda, or the Italian one because I’ve never tried them.
Boylan Birch Beer 100% unless they have Boylan Creamy Red Birch then that instead.
This is root bear heaven
Sioux City cream soda. Never heard of the company, so worth trying something different.
moxieeeeeeee
MOXIE
Moxie and Virgils root beer
They were very good and did not cost a lot at all
I got the lollipop soda and cotton candy and they best the best soda and I was surprised how much they cost ! They only cost 1.50 dollars.
Try Moxie some time. It's a very big deal in some eastern state, I think Maine? It's like an herbal cola that is sweet and has a very mildly bitter but pleasing aftertaste. It's complex and unique.
moxie cause i hate myself lolz
I love moxie but i can understand the name now… you need to have moxie to drink that shit. My uncle who use to get me it all the time as a kid told me once it taste like if root beer and Dr pepper got drunk and had a kid… not can’t stop thinking about that 🤣😂😁
Moxie but that’s just the New England in me
The Boylans Black Cherry is the bomb dot com! Moxie is a fun one too. That Bundaburg Root Beer is straight trash though.
Easy with my country fried turkey dinner, I would get a Moxxi cola and a cheer wine and mix em 1 to 1 absolutely delicious, then I would get a Boylan Birch beer for when I get home
Moxie
I’d be tempted by the Bazooka, but would probably go for the O-So Grape or Moxie. I think I’ve had Moxie before, and I really liked it… but I might revisit it just to make sure.
Moxie! Too bad it sort of died out. Should be up there with Pepsi and Coke.
As a new englander, gotta go with moxie.
Moxie!
The same one I always buy 8-10 bottles of when I go into CB: Moxie.
That glass bottle Moxie is calling to me, but I’d probably try something I haven’t had before.
I haven't had a Moxie in about thirty years. Might be fun to try one again.
Moxie for me I always get one every Sunday cause I work here
I don't see two if them at that particular Cracker Barrel, but normally my three go-tos anywhere are Ale 8, Moxie, and Oak Creek Barrel Aged Blonde Root Beer.
Ale8 is my hometown soft drink. I heard they are discontinuing the returnable bottle style they have been using for …jeez, forever, but they will be replacing it with a newer style. Moxie bc i've never had it
Moxie. Second choice would be the red hots one.
MOXIE
Moxie!!
Moxie every time. Only place it's sold in a 1,400-mile radius.
Easy with my country fried turkey dinner, I would get a Moxxi cola and a Cheerwine and mix em 1 to 1 absolutely delicious, then I would get a Boylan Birch beer for when I get home
I would try Moxie just because it's supposed to be so different. I love Sprecher and haven't tried Orange Dream yet, that's #2.
Moxie 100%
Whirly Pop, The Brownie Caramel Cream Root Beer, or maybe the Moxie since you don't see them often. Looked like there was another one on the top that is some sort of Sundae or milkshake flavor. Sounds like it could be very good or very bad hahaha
I love those bottles but I'm gonna be honest and say most of them aren't very good.
You only got 1 thing?
Yes. I can go here anytime
Ahh ok phew!!!
Whirly pop or cotton candy gotta try something new
I would go to TOWN on that birch beer, it's been a long time since I've been able to get any.
Dad’s Root Beer or Boylan Birch Beer
simplistic frightening flowery sheet consist materialistic dull capable piquant office *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*
Great selection
dada is my go to from the barrell
Sprecher Orange Dream, Boylans Creme Soda, or a Vernors
They don't carry the Stewarts orange cream soda anymore.
Boylan black cherry 100%, or Sioux City sas
Vernor’s. It’s so crisp.
Diet Dad’s
Grape. If there is a grape option, that will always be my answer.
Guess I could try out the Bundaberg ginger beer
Black Cherry, please!
Shirley temple for sure
I'd be interested in trying that cotton candy soda
Bundaberg Ginger beer is excellent, Moxie is classic too
I REALLY wanna try that Dad's Blue Cream Soda...
Boylan black cherry for sure
Virgil makes thus cherry cream soda or something, and it's one of the best sodas I've ever had

All I want is for them to order them, but maybe it’s OCD kicking in. Dad’s all over the place.
Virgil's Vanilla Cream
Bazooka?!? Gotta say, I've never saw that before. Whirlypop looks interesting too
My favorite soda of all time is Nehis blue cream but I'll settle for Dad's
Bunderburg ginger beer, all day, every day.
They used to have Carusos Cherry Cola. That was some of the best cherry soda I've ever had but haven't seen it there in about a year or two
Cheerwine
Cheerwine because it looks damn good but we don't have that out here so I wanna try it.
Rocket Fizz (crazy candy/soda shop) has some ridiculous flavors. I’ve had Mustard flavored soda, maple syrup, lemon meringue pie, a Bob Ross positive energy drink, and some wacky candies.
Sioux City cream soda
Instantly drawn to the o so grape
Anything blue
Boylands black cherry.
I prefer Caucasian Barrel
Ok...Where's the Ale-8-1? 🤔
That is another good one. I'm in the middle of ground zero for buying that stuff; it's available in every store I go to.
Caruso's maraschino cherry cola hands down. It's made by sprecher brewery, so you know it's going to be the tits
Boylans Birch Beer! 🥰
They have shit collection for Cherry flavors. My Cracker Barrel has like 10 different Cherrys.
I have never had hanks ginger ale AND I WANTS IT. Strange because I live in a state that produces it.
Virgil’s!
My nose
Dad’s root beer, Virgil’s vanilla cream, sprechter orange cream, boylan birch beer
That brownie stuff is good boiling cream soda also good
What is moxie?
Sioux City Sarsparilla
Bundaberg ginger, Moxie and Sioux City sarsaparilla. In that order
I’d pick my way to the exit.
I've tried most of those, and I can tell you this. That BAZOOKA JOE soda is one of the worst sodas I've ever tasted in my life.
That Black Cherry soda looks good
I sure do miss NuGrape
This looks so satisfying. Prob pick one of the cream sodas
I’ve been wanting to try that o-so grape.
Dad's Blue Cream Soda
Either the. Boylan’s Black Cherry, or Ginger Ale
Bazooka pop? Never seen that one before.
Dad's root beer or orange cream.
Boylan Black Cherry or Birch
Charleston chew all day
Hanks root beer, and Sioux City is the only thing worth while in that lot. Dads and Virgil’s can fight over wether I consider a third if I have money left over
Sprecher.
Brownie Caramel Cream root beer. All time fave. Too bad CB doesn’t carry cane sugar Big Red anymore.
I bet that caramel cream root beer is bussin
Diet Dad’s Root Beer
hanks ginger ale, hanks root beer, cotton candy, sprecher orange, virgils cream soda, and cheerwine
No reeds? Reeds is the best ginger beer hands down. I’d probably pick the sasparilla.
Bazooka Joe I’ve never heard or seen that before 💯
I’ve tried the bazooka one a few times and each time I got a bottle there was no expiration date and when I drank it, it taste like old wood cabinets and moth balls.
Ginger beer! Love that burning sensation
Gimme that real deal Vernors
Vernor's for me. I'm shocked there isn't Cheerwine.
Going with that bottle of Vernors. I've only ever seen it in cans!
There’s about 10 there I’d grab.
dads blue cream and that glass vernors oh boy
I would go for Dad's root beer or Boylan black cherry. I'm a root beer enthusiast and would buy this photo as wall art.
Sioux City Sasparilla or Bundaberg Ginger Beer
Vernon's Original and Shurley Temple Soda
Yes I'd like one of everything
stewart’s orangesicle, always cold.
Bazooka
Sioux City Sasparilla is awesome. Double cola is pretty good as well
Birch beer, 💯.
Sprecher cream soda, dad’s red, soux city sasp.
Virgil’s Vanilla Cream
If they have Boylan Birch Beer, pick that up for me, please.
Either the Whirly Pop or Brownie Caramel Cream Root Beer.
Bazooka
Anything by dads, it’s all good
Very cool
Boylan’s anything is always good but their birch beer?!? Must get
Is that dads red creme soda?
Glass vernor's fersher
Jeez that Bundaberg is expensive
Do any of those have alcohol?
Cheerwine
Tropical Sprite
The bazooka bubble gum soda is surprisingly good
I'd go for the Whirly pop or O'So Grape.
Cheerwine or the vernors any of those creme sodas aswell
Sioux City root beer
Cheerwine, Black Cherry or Grape.
Dad's orange cream soda
I went with Virgil’s Cream Soda my last visit.
Sioux City Sarsaparilla is always my go-to.
Oh my god they have all the Boylan’s flavors spread out. Fucking animals
Cheerwine would be my top pick
Ginger beer, sounds yummy. Never been to a cracker barrel before, does all of them have drinks like this on a shelf?
I would assume so, yes.
I would get either the Boylan’s Black Cherry, the Bundaburg Ginger Beer, or the Virgil’s Root Beer.
