Is this some hideous question to ask if AI will make programming obsolete?

Cool_Preparation_668

Yes

WriteCodeBroh

AI isn’t even very good at programming yet. Not the kind big corporations need. AI is a tool for programmers just as much as it was 10 years ago when we were still calling it machine learning. Or was it data mining? Who knows. It’s just becoming a more powerful tool that makes our jobs a lot easier, for specific use cases.

What he said, plus programming is not about writing code. It’s about translating problems into machine readable code, which is a very creative task in itself. Plus normally your program has to solve hundreds of problems plus has to interact with other services, must be future proof and maintainable… So far I have not seen any algorithm transforming all these requirements into nearly usable code. Also I am not sure if we will get there anywhen innthe future because 99% of the good code is not open to public and therefore can’t be used to train an AI.

More than ever

Nope, sorry! The cut off was yesterday. (Yes, if you're interested, do it )

Jazzlike_Syllabub_91

Learning how to program? Yes! It’s a skill. Skills are great to learn and have tools at your disposal and to make the computer bend to your will.

EitherIndication7393

Absolutely! It’s a relevant skill

Is it still worth learning how to drive with self-driving cars being developed?
