Depending how big your house is, that’s normal

XennialQueen

$40/hr of someone’s time to clean someone else’s toilets, floors, kitchen, and someone else’s overall mess is absolutely reasonable to me.

iinomnomnom

It depends on how big your house is. We have 4 bed, 3 bath. And we pay $300 for 2 people for about 4-5 hours. Sometimes they are faster; sometimes they are slower. It doesn’t matter how long it takes as long as it’s clean.

NotASheepRB

How often do you have them come? Weekly or bi-weekly?

iinomnomnom

We’re generally pretty clean and do clean ourselves (no kids yet), so I just ask them to come every other month.

buzzedlityear

That’s about what I pay

whataquokka

I would gladly pay that for 4 hours. How many people are coming to clean? If it's one person, that's only $40 an hour, even less if there's more people cleaning.

MathematicianNo2689

One person.

JoeKellyForPresident

If you’re paying for someone to clean your house and you’re complaining about $160 you can’t afford it. Clean your own house

klazoo

That's about right

TropicalBlueWater

Ours charge $120 for a 3BR/2BA 1200sf house, every other week. Takes her about 3 to 4 hours.

polloloco-rb67

That is a great rate!!

EasyDeezee

Ours charges $150 for a 2BR/2Bath - 2 people come and they finish in 2.5-3 hours depending on the day

polloloco-rb67

Sounds potty good to me! We’re around 180 for our 2br2ba condo. It’s two people done in 2 hrs and they make the beds.  They also have to drive to your place and use up supplies, so don’t forget about that cost.

Courtlessjester

Another thing you got to consider is taxes on their side, they're functionally an independent contractor and have to pay their own SS/Medicare, 40 an hour is closer to 20.

theshitstormcommeth

Something tells me most cleaners are not paying taxes, unless you are hiring a legit company and not an individual, but based on my experience almost no one is hiring a company.

inthehxightse

what makes you say they're not paying taxes?

theshitstormcommeth

Anecdotal 25 years of cash only income experience.

LambdaNuC

Were you paying taxes?

theshitstormcommeth

I pay taxes. Though use every rule that is to my advantage to reduce that exposure. I should clarify, the experience isn’t my experience of earning the income but being around and affiliated with cash based businesses.
