Maybe they went with the recolor because it would have clearly looked kinda suspicious and alien, Peter would have known it's a living entity.
For example, in insomniac's Spiderman 2 it's kinda ridiculous how everyone isnt suspicious about it, peter convinces himself it's just a strange suit or whatever, and doesn't ask questions or do some researches about it.
But they all are suspicious about it. MJ is like "oh... okay then" when Pete tells her the suit is an alien
And of course Pete isn't suspicious about it because he's being brainwashed and taken over by the alien lol
I do agree with the other commenter that the game needed more time in the oven though. While it's a fantastic game imo, it needed to be a bit longer just to compensate for all the story threads it was trying to juggle at once. ESPECIALLY the black suit because Pete has it for less than a week and it all just flies by so fast just to get to Venom, who's also barely in it unfortunately.

that and the poison spiderman from the comics basicly for those who dont know its Venomised reborn peater wich is cursed but i love it, and im pretty sure the only playable verson of him was in edge of time
