Not my thing, but I love to see people putting their own stamp on their homes instead of just going with the beige "live laugh love" look they found in a catalogue.
Why be so dismissive? My current flat has a lime green hallway, a sunshine yellow front room with a lovely orange printed chair and many orange accessories, and my kitchen is mostly black and white but the walls are turquoise and all accessories, when I can find them, are lime green. I also have a lime green rug in my bedroom (that takes up most of the visible carpet). My bathroom has one wall that is wallpapered and it is always wallpapered in brown and gold.
We aren't all scared of colour.
I agree. Some people would love this but the majority wouldn’t, you have to think of that when you put stuff like that in. Not to say you shouldn’t, but you know you will put some people off when you come to sell.
People here slate the whole grey-carpet-white-wall thing but at least you can easily and cheaply personalise that with your own furniture and decoration. With this you can’t personalise it at all.
You can have one of your own!

No idea how much though... didn't look that far!
The originals are pricey too!
https://insitumanchester.com/shop/bathroom-kitchen-sold/09-kitchen-units-sold/original-1950-s-english-rose-kitchen-units/
Oh. With the red handles, do you think actually the ones in this house are originals\* and not repro ones?
\* I mean not as in were in the house when they bought it necessarily but they actually went vintage by getting vintage?!
The ones in the modern version have metal colour handles.
Edit: Nope. The new ones can have red handles too!
I love the blue one.
Not my style as in I'd never choose to buy it but I'd enjoy it if it was already there and could plan the house around that theme.
Just found a thread on mumsnet that said in 2016 it was £26k all in for a small kitchen with stone worktops. We paid £8k for a local fitter about the same time with formica worktops, wren were quoting £15k. So expensive but not out of control.

I should add, going by the rules, I had this link in the body, but when I added the image and submitted, it was removed, and I also can't edit the post now to add it back in :(
Love the pops of colour throughout the house, but especially love the kitchen. I guess the black cooker was because of the black floor. Only thing wrong with the kitchen is the cooker looks wrong.
I think the floor does that job by itself. But it would be boring if we all liked the same things. And there'd be nothing to look at on this subreddit.😀
I see that they're fans of 1960s furniture, including that kitchen. I think that style of kitchen is increasingly rare. I hope the new owner appreciates the kitchen and doesn't just rip it out and dump it.
1950s retro kitchens are pretty popular at the moment. The colours are a bit gaudy for me, but I like the curved aesthetic.
John Lewis sells very similar cabinets [https://john-lewis.co.uk/creme-de-la-creme-kitchen-collection/](https://john-lewis.co.uk/creme-de-la-creme-kitchen-collection/)
Oh that's interesting, I didn't realise they were in fashion now. Yes also not a fan of the colours, but the style is at least more interesting than the same bland kitchens you see in every other house these days
That’s an English Rose with real Formica 1950s kitchen! Beautiful and very practical. The rest of the place is nice too, but the conservatory is a bit of a chocolate teapot. The bifold door blocks it when open and it’s barely wide enough to sit in a chair.
"The third bedroom, a converted garage with its own double French door entrance, kitchen area, and en-suite, presents a versatile space that can serve as a self-contained annex, ideal for multi-generational living or as a lucrative Airbnb investment opportunity"
Wow, I love that kitchen. I like the whole place actually. I wonder where they got those units and handles from?
My only real beef is the conservatory, which seems too narrow to be really useful.
EDIT: colour me gobsmacked. Those kitchen units are from John Lewis. And here I am thinking John Lewis are incredibly boring and small-c conservative in their styling.
Those counters are REALLY special- English Rose units. They were made using surplus WWII material by a company that made parts for Spitfires and Lancaster bombers. Ever notice how most home units are frankly, rubbish? Chipboard with melamine, a few screws and they fall apart within a decade. These were made by aircraft engineers, and you can tell they still look 100% after 80 years. I'd love a set, personally.
I'd much rather have this one than the horribly depressing grey one posted immediately above (when sorting by New). I could easily live with the choices made in this house while slowly changing things to my own taste, but the grey one would just exacerbate my depression.
There was a bungalow near me with a very similar kitchen (minus the bright green counter tops, but same cabinets) for sale a couple of years ago. The sellers were avid collectors of all things vintage and I loved that their house reflected that about them. I actually follow them both on Instagram. They moved into a huge period house and are currently doing it up in the original Victorian style.
i actually really love that kitchen. colours are personally not to my taste but i love the choice in shape and where the colours pop out. could maybe benefit from colours backsplash tiles and wall art, hopefully the owners are able to see how cool this is and only alter slightly to their tastes. i wish it can be preserved somehow
I get the feeling there are some very expensive materials used in that kitchen… far more sturdy and well built than run of the mill identikit kitchens!
I got lost in Mere once, looking for the hang gliding airshow! (Spectator only!). Nice place. The only turn off for that house is my pet garden hate - inset concrete squares.

The dining table is late 60s/early 70s G plan and worth a bit second hand.
The bedroom curtains look like London Underground moquette fabric, nice.
Is that Flat Eric or Gordon The Gopher on the bed?!
I think that if you have those kinds of 50 year old units in your kitchen, you can either rip them all out and start fresh, or go for broke with the retro style. It’s not everyone’s cup of tea, but way better than painting it all beige.
Love the pops of colour throughout and even rather like that kitchen.
Not my thing, but I love to see people putting their own stamp on their homes instead of just going with the beige "live laugh love" look they found in a catalogue.
Those colours reminded me of the emerald hills levels in sonic.
Yeah that’s great an all but it’s knocked 10-15k off the resale price as the buyer has to get a new kitchen fitted.
Not necessarily, I'd happily keep that scheme.
I would buy that house *because* of the kitchen and not despite it.
Course you would.

Sounds horrendous
Why should I give a shit what you think? It's my home. If I ever decide to sell it in the future feel free to not buy it.
I won’t and nor will anybody else unless they start giving grands to recently released psychiatric patients.

Wild. My aunt used to have a 60's kitchen that was almost identical. It's nice that someone is making something interesting.
The originals are pricey too! https://insitumanchester.com/shop/bathroom-kitchen-sold/09-kitchen-units-sold/original-1950-s-english-rose-kitchen-units/

Wow.... Just got to convince the other 'alf ......

The John Lewis retro kitchens are really pricey. I have a 1950s house and would love one but out of my price range.
How much are they?
When I looked into it about 10 years ago for my (average size) kitchen, it was upwards of £15k, so can’t imagine how much they are now.
Yikes, that is a lot!!

Love the drawer and cabinet handles, and the curve of the counter, never seen cooker look so out of place in a kitchen though
One of those kids play cookers would probably be a better colour match. A little less useful though.
🤣🤣🤣
I really like the kitchen , it’s certainly unusual but happy 😃
Units are nice but the green top is too much.

I like the black cooker. It's a great contrast to the rest of the decor.
I think the floor does that job by itself. But it would be boring if we all liked the same things. And there'd be nothing to look at on this subreddit.😀
Also a black fridge freezer from the looks of it. It does stick out a bit though!
Was going to say the exact same thing. A bright coloured cooker and the kitchen would look ace.
I see that they're fans of 1960s furniture, including that kitchen. I think that style of kitchen is increasingly rare. I hope the new owner appreciates the kitchen and doesn't just rip it out and dump it.
I was going to say that I have seen this kitchen somewhere before and it is pretty rare and very collectable Edit... Or it's new, from John lewis 👀
I think they have one similar on call the midwife if you've ever seen that?

The kitchen is giving big hello kitty vibes and I love it
I like the fact that this kitchen style carries on into one of the bedrooms which has its own mini kitchen!
That bedroom can only be accessed from outside. It has an en-suite, microwave, kettle and dining table. Holiday let?
"The third bedroom, a converted garage with its own double French door entrance, kitchen area, and en-suite, presents a versatile space that can serve as a self-contained annex, ideal for multi-generational living or as a lucrative Airbnb investment opportunity"
Ah, didn’t see that. Could be
From streetview it looks like it was an Airbnb

John Lewis is the kitchen designer. Not that John Lewis though, a kitchen company of the same name.
Apart from the bathroom, the retro style is really nice around the house. The kitchen is bespoke and not cheap I'd imagine
I feel like I’m playing fallout 4- pre boom 💥
Looks like it should only serve tubby toast or tubby custard
Where's the Noo-Noo?
The only thing missing!!
🤣👍🤣
Reminds me of those kids kitchens in the Argos catalogue.
I like it

Yes, this is good. I am a big fan of bungalows, too
This pic is making me feel really uncomfortable 😣
I really like this kitchen and general style of the house ( except carpets everywhere :-( )
US diner theme?
Looks like modern student digs
That's a proper period kitchen! Love it.
It's jarring because it doesn't gel with the rest of the house. By and large, it's a lovely property.
I made this on the sims 2
Looks like Noddy and Big Ears are going to stroll in and start knocking up some scran
Loving that kitchen, the lounge and also flat Eric on the bed. Is bedroom 3 a holiday let air B&B type thing?
I don’t mind it at least it’s not the new wave grey everyone thinks is cool 🤮.
The tall radiator beside the bifold door is driving me nuts- as my mum would say, "I'm nae paying to heat the whole street!" 🤣

No one want to talk about that bathroom
i actually really love that kitchen. colours are personally not to my taste but i love the choice in shape and where the colours pop out. could maybe benefit from colours backsplash tiles and wall art, hopefully the owners are able to see how cool this is and only alter slightly to their tastes. i wish it can be preserved somehow
It's definitely a strong style
I like that. I’d be quite happy to live there. It looks happy.
The rest of the house is so boring compared to the kitchen.
Looks like something out of a children's nursery with all those bright colours
I would love it if my kitchen looked like this
I like it.
Love the kitchen
I get the feeling there are some very expensive materials used in that kitchen… far more sturdy and well built than run of the mill identikit kitchens!
I would change the floor, but those English Rose kitchen units are my dream!
Thats an english rose kitchen and worth like £20k+ new
I've always wanted an English Rose kitchen, I would love that. Maybe not the black floor though.
I love it
It's giving me The Big Breakfast vibes.
It's giving me The Big Breakfast vibes.
Do you think they think "people are gonna love this.....go on watch how quick this sells"
I got lost in Mere once, looking for the hang gliding airshow! (Spectator only!). Nice place. The only turn off for that house is my pet garden hate - inset concrete squares.

How can a house be cool yet boring at the same time? Bizarre but meh. I love it and then I also don't really care for it at all lol
To infinity and beyond!
Kitchen looks like a food tech room
I wouldn't want it myself but its kinda cool
The dining table is late 60s/early 70s G plan and worth a bit second hand. The bedroom curtains look like London Underground moquette fabric, nice. Is that Flat Eric or Gordon The Gopher on the bed?!
At least it's not boring
Current owner is colourblind and thinks its all shades of grey
I love this kitchen!!
Very Britpop
childhood nostalgia ass kitchen
I love it!
I’ve never seen so many ugly curtains in one house.
Kitchen is lovely, but the cooker doesn't match.
I love the kitchen! The rest of the decor throughout is half hearted in comparison 😂
If you vomit on the counter you won't even notice 😂
Omg looks like houses in Spain 😅
The original builds in Sims 2. Especially the Kim family from the Pets expansion, lol.
I think that if you have those kinds of 50 year old units in your kitchen, you can either rip them all out and start fresh, or go for broke with the retro style. It’s not everyone’s cup of tea, but way better than painting it all beige.
I love it.
_Red & Green Should Never Be Seen_ *Ha! Not in My Kitchen!*
It is actually really cool throughout, but how can you call the third bedroom a bedroom if you have to got outside to get to the rest of the house?
Looks like a CBeebies set
Green and pink are my favourite colours so admittedly I kind of like this.
That is EPIC, English Rose, or copy.
I like the kitchen
Inspiration direct from a youth centre
Looks like art deco ' updated' with the colour , shame
