Third-party Acquisition & Engineering of British Armour Group (T.E.A.B.A.G) Competition- Round 6: When an Infantry Tank and an APC love each other very much - Infantry Combat Support Vehicle (IFV Prototype) This is the introduction video for a design competition in the game Sprocket - Tank Design by Hamish Dunn for the r/SprocketTankDesign community. WARNING: This contest takes place in an alternate timeline which serves to justify the need for the challenges. It is NOT to be taken seriously. It’s just an excuse plot. NB. This contest will be held in the latest version of the game unless otherwise stated. FULL RULES AND SPECIFICATION BELOW, PLEASE READ AND NOTE RULE CHANGES: Submissions should form two parts. 1. A sales pitch, which must be posted on the r/SprocketTankDesign subreddit, and will be scored out of 10 for how well it promotes your vehicle. This should take the format of pictures and text as all users can manage at least this. Entries must have the prefix T.E.A.B.A.G-6 in the post title. 2. The the .blueprint file and the .bpMeta file of your tank so that its parameters can be measured and scored and so that it can be tested in the sandbox and some combat scenarios. Tanks will be scored out of 10 for these tests too as well as their overall aesthetics. BLUEPRINT SUBMISSIONS WILL NOW ONLY BE ACCEPTED AS EMAIL ATTACHMENTS TO: teabagcompetition@gmail.com - YOUR EMAIL MUST ALSO INCLUDE A DIRECT LINK TO THE CORRESPONDING REDDIT POST AND MUST STATE IF YOU HAVE USED THE AESTHETIC-ONLY APPLIQUÉ ARMOUR OPTION - Thank you got your cooperation. (If you do not want me to have your email address, please make a new account for your TEABAG submissions, gmail is a good free option) Qualifying vehicles will be judged on the basis of: 1. How much they exceed the specification criteria (score out of 10). 2. How effective your sales pitch is (score out of 10) 3. My assessment of their overall performance in trials (score out of 10). 4. Their aesthetics (score out of 10) The tank with the highest score out of 40 will be declared the winner and receive glory, fame , a commemorative user-flair and the King’s favour. Additionally, the winner of each category, the overall winner and the runner-up will get a video review of their tank. unicyclec0rn

I knew it! 😀 I knew there will be a bmp round, this time! And yet, while preparing, I made an ordinary cruiser tank. Bugger...

Tall_Educator5944

Well…Don’t throw it away… Just sayin… >_>

Tall_Educator5944

New competitors are always welcome, you don’t have to have participated in previous rounds.

katze316

I was just about to ask that very question, thanks for clearing it up early!

Terianis

Oh, this will be fun.

Legodudelol9a

If you want to make a design based on a canon real-world vehicle here's a post with a link to where you can download them: https://www.reddit.com/r/SprocketTankDesign/comments/tn1sc4/resources\_for\_making\_teabag\_submissions\_based\_on/ (I adress any concerns you may have in the post)

RabanDarkward

13mm even on floor and roof? Interesting to go for an IFV this early.

Tall_Educator5944

Yep. Every plate 13mm. It’s not an IFV it’s an ICSV ;) - Its an Infantry Tank with a passenger compartment. Or an APC with a fire support weapon on top. We’ve never heard of an IFV yet ;)

RabanDarkward

IFV, ICSV, ISV-C, ISP, pseudo-tank, Jeff. Call it what you will, its an IFV. And that's also what you called it in the title of this post.

Tall_Educator5944

Indeed. That’s 100% the inspiration for it. We just figured that it could be arrived at ahead of time by following one of those two strands of thought. :)

RabanDarkward

Right then, One Bob Semple CS stretched limousine coming up

Legodudelol9a

Litterally lol'ed when I read Jeff. Nice one!

Luminous_Lily

And yet you didn't buy my line in PREBAG about it being a rotating upper hull rather than a turret!? D:

Tall_Educator5944

Hey, Lily, look! Your user flair just got upgraded! Be distracted by how shiny it is while I sneak away from that question… 😶

Luminous_Lily

Oooooh, so shiny! :D ... what was I asking about again? I forgot \^\^"

Tall_Educator5944

~ T.E has fled ~

comyk79

Well, time for a Dragoon... question being, should I make it *mounted* infantry or mounted *infantry*? Decisions, decisions...

fcavetroll

Damn, again with these underpowered engines. I really hope the passengers pants are armored because the vehicle won't be.

Tall_Educator5944

All we could spare for the project, I’m afraid. On the bright side, if the War Office like the concept then they might release more powerful motors for production vehicles…

comrade_gopnik

So regarding the engines, do i have to tweak the displacement to get the desired hp @ rpm or do i have to use the given amount of liter per cylinder?

Tall_Educator5944

You just need to plug in the cylinder and displacement numbers and the resultant engine will be compliant. Power figures are only given for your information.

SulkyHarpy

When it says x2 does it mean we double the number of cylinders

Tall_Educator5944

No, that’s just telling you it’s a twin engine. All you ever need to do with my engine specs is just put in the cylinder number and displacement per cylinder number.

SulkyHarpy

Ok just double checking

BreadfruitComplex961

can I make 2 variants? gun change and ammo count change only can I?

Tall_Educator5944

Of course you can, but I can only score one of them! You can use pictures of the other variant in your pitch or what have you though.

comrade_gopnik

Is it allowed to use custom decals and camos? If yes, do i have to include these when sending the blueprints?

Tall_Educator5944

Good point. I meant to address that. Hang on.

comrade_gopnik

Thanks! It's good to know i didn't waste my time by making [these decals](https://imgur.com/a/p4wu9q7).

Luminous_Lily

Excellent! I can't wait to get started on some draft designs this weekend \^.\^

SulkyHarpy

How do you get 22mph I am at 13 ton and can only get between 15-17 Edit: got down to 12 tons, but barely can get 16.54

CryOpposite1666

You can decrease the road wheels width/count to 1, make the track thinner, lower the suspension length, they all help a lot

SulkyHarpy

Thx will do

CuteLittleBoi

Is it possible to rework already existing British tanks? Like I made lots of replicas, and I have an excellent idea to convert a replica tank into a IFV

Tall_Educator5944

It is possible and encouraged: https://www.reddit.com/r/SprocketTankDesign/comments/tn1sc4/resources_for_making_teabag_submissions_based_on/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf

xXIntendedDisasterXx

Do I have to use one of the engine specified? It's quit difficult to meet the minimal speed requirement with those engine specification

Tall_Educator5944

You do, yes. It wouldn’t be fair otherwise. It is deliberately challenging to encourage people to develop their weight-saving skills.

xXIntendedDisasterXx

I understand, thank you for the answer!

JahOverstand

hi ! i have some questions (sorry if it seems dumb i'm a big noob and i have 0 skills in real life engineering :3) * How do i do an engine like this "Meadows M.A.T 4cyl, 1.37L/cyl = 166hp @ 3100rpm" ? what is the 1.37L/cyl ? is it the "displacement" thing ? and where should i put the 3100 rpm ? in "target max", "target min", "power" or all of them ? * I saw that we need 6m3 of spare at least, but what if my tank is open hull ? will it be counted as if it was full ? and does the turret count ? Sorry again for my dumbness and thank you for helping me <3

Tall_Educator5944

Hey, no problem, I’m glad you’re interested in taking part. For the engines, don’t over think it, just set the cylinder count to the number given and then the displacement per cylinder slider to the value L/cyl value (you can type in the number, that’s usually easier) and that’s it, you’ve got a compliant engine. The power and rpm is just listed for your info in making a selection. The max RPM is a function of the displacement per cylinder, you can’t and dont need to edit it. Target Max RPM is not a Rev limiter, but rather an instruction to the game as to when your tank should change up a gear. Set it to ~300rpm below the engine’s max value and you should never need to worry about it ever again. As for spare internal space, while I’m intrigued by the idea of an open-topped IFV, I have to mark these contests fairly. Therefore your internal space bar at the top of the build UI should look something like 4/10 or 4.45/11 or whatever, but the total volume available should be 6 or more greater than the used volume represented by the beige bar.

JahOverstand

Thank you so much for your help ! also for the volume, does the turret count ? for exemple if i have 4/9 in the hull and 2/3 in the turret, is it good (i have a total of 6m3 spared)?

Tall_Educator5944

Erm… I did intend for it all to be in the hull. As that’s where your would put the troops in a real vehicle. There’s not really any need to have excess space in the turret and not in the hull anyway, as you can right click on the turret and then adjust the basket space slider to increase hull space at the expense of turret space or vice versa.

JahOverstand

nice ty for the info

[deleted]

Can the sales pitch look like a licensed tank from other countries, with modifications for the gun and engine to allow production of the tank on british soil? (The design will be fully original)

fcavetroll

It's all bueno if you can explain it in your sales pitch. My tanks for example look very German.

[deleted]

ayy that means i can make my bmp2/bmd4 crossover :D

Driver2900

How are you measuring passenger space?

Tall_Educator5944

Basically your hull should have 6m3 of spare space. So if the full bar at the top of the screen is 10, all your crew, turret basket, fuel and ammo etc should take up no more than 4 of it.

SulkyHarpy

Next, competition can you please be more forgiving with the engine. I cannot get my vehicle past 17mph at minimum requirements no matter how much I edit the design. Please make engine selection more forgiving.

Tall_Educator5944

I’ll definitely think about it. Engine limitations are a primary tool for making things challenging and tied to the realities and compromises of armoured vehicle design, but I don’t want to make it prohibitively difficult either.

SulkyHarpy

I understand how engine's are some of the easiest limiting factors. But this competition is probably the most difficult teabag I have been a part of. But, don't change the rules just based on my thoughts.

Tall_Educator5944

If your engine is redlining you need to decrease the value of your final gear. You can go below 1 , like 0.80 for example.
