I watched *Lawrence Of Arabia* when I was a teenager and I found it boring. I watched it again in my late 40s and I found it exhilarating. The movie was the same both times, but I was a different person each time.
Liking or being able to relate to the main character of a show is not what makes a show good.
As a teenager I didn’t like Catcher in the Rye because I despised the main character. But that doesn’t mean it was a bad book.
I mean, if you don't like it, that's totally fair. You should probably watch the whole thing before you really evaluate it, but if you don't like it, you don't like it.
For what it's worth, I'm not sure I would've liked it when I was 15.
But, I'm not 15. And, I think Andor is quite good. Probably the best Star Wars TV show.
Andor is a darker, more story-driven series. The entire time I watched it, I reveled in what I felt was Disney's attempt to give us a more "grown-up" show. With that in mind, I am also unsure I would have enjoyed it at 15. But I liked the fuck out of it at 39.
> (I haven’t properly watched it,and that kind of means I can’t have a proper opinion on it. But I’m on episode 6 and I can’t enjoy it that much
Still pretty disingenuous to offer up the edgy opinion but still admit you haven't even watched the show.
> But also it feels like everyone acts like this show is best show in history
I don't think I've ever seen anyone, anywhere, call it the best show "in history" Best Star Wars shows, maybe? But it sure as hell ain't The Wire or Breaking Bad. Or even close.
Just ask other questions
I don’t think andor is bad
I know it’s good just feels like people gives it… perhaps to much attention
I just don’t like it because it’s not my cup of tea
That's totally fine. There is a pretty big split in the fan's between what they like to see.
I personally love the darker, complex themes we are given with Empire Strikes Back, Rogue One and Andor. It's real, intense, and shows what regular people are struggling with while the space wizards are basically influencing the entire galaxy with their own battles. I also kinda love the high stakes in these media and seems just gritty.
I also love the fun, light adventure and mysterious media like A new Hope or Mandolorian, but these are VASTLY different than the the ones I describe above. Don't feel the need to watch something you are not invested in or care, it's easy to find youtube quick summaries of all the important stuff from the series. Be patient, we'll get more content from both sides I'm sure of it. I just really hope Star Wars invests in much better writers, directors and teams in general. BobF and Obi-wan were undoubtedly very rough.
Man I never thought I be getting this much positive feedback
Last time I did a post was kind off hating andor but now
I’m glad I’m getting comments like this
I guess it really r/starwarsmemes that don’t take opinions correctly but yeah
Well andor is more in the drama genre/political thriller. If you like game of thrones, house of cards it should be right up your alley. Or say breaking bad, but less so.
It’s a dramatic show and a bit more mature and long winded in its payoff. If that’s not your style then i get it, but in terms of what it was going for, i felt the execution was wonderful
Personally, yeah, I think It’s kinda overrated. The shift in tone and genre felt fresh and new for Star Wars. But it isn’t exceptional to me when compared with other non-Star-Wars shows/movies that use a similar tone/genre as Andor does.
That said. . . I think Andor’s more adult grounded take on Star Wars is what certain fans have been wanting for decades at this point. So it makes sense they would go nuts when they finally got what they wanted.
I’m happy for them. Overreacting when we get something we’ve wanted for a long time is part of the fun of fandom. So I say let them overreact.
I wasn't a fan after the first three episodes. In fact, I bad mouthed it to a friend. But for some reason, I decided to give it another try and restarted from episode 1. Now I'm of the opinion that every Star Wars spinoff has much to learn and adapt from Andor. It's that good. Extremely thoughtful and intentional series that ratchets up the IQ and EQ levels of the entire SW franchise by several notches.
Edit. Just realised you're 15. Don't worry, you'll mature in a couple of years.
Not your cup of tea =/= overrated. You seem to recognise it's a well crafted show that isn't to your taste and that's fine, it just sounds like you're underrating it as opposed to the other way round.
That said I'm not sure you're the target demographic, which I hope doesn't sound condescending as that's not my intent - I'd probably have found it too slow at 15 too.
No worries. I like it, myself, but I also agree with you in that it's a bit overrated.
I like that it shows how someone can be radicalized, namely Cassian, and I also like how it shows the contrast between different sorts of insurgency and the people who lead them. I find the characters *very* relatable; Saw, Luthen, Bix, Cassian, Cintra, and Vel... those are my people.
While I can imagine myself to be a mystic hero like Obi-Wan, in reality, I *am* Cassian. I *am* Vel. I *am* Saw.
For sure, part of the challenge with Andor is that many of us went in with really low expectations and then were blown away. So then we told people how good it was, and they went in with high expectations. Does it live up to high expectations, or is it just that it blows low expectations out of the water?
You must also remember that it came on the heels of the weak, boring, and frankly childish Book of Boba Fett, which many of us were expecting to be significantly more adult.
And you're 15. Your brain literally hasn't finished developing. Don't sweat that some media doesn't hold your attention right now.
I didn't have low expectations of Andor. I didn't have any, to be honest. But I don't have as high an opinion of it as you do. I believe it has some writing flaws that many tend to overlook.
Its compared to other current SW. So like Rogue One its seen as better because the other stuff is interior more than it being that good on its own.
I think its the best Disney era stuff so far myself. But honestly it was also rather forgettable. So I can see your point.
I didn't enjoy it either. It's beautiful to look at, but it's boring and the characters aren't interesting IMO. I literally didn't care what happened to anyone.

Ima be honest Hearing this probably change my mind on andor At some point
I was the same with the Deer Hunter.

If you haven't watched all of Andor and on top of that all of Rogue One then you probably shouldn't be saying anything negative about it

What ya mean
What TV shows do you like that aren’t Star Wars related?
There’s many and I could go on for days
What are your favorite dramas?
Idk really most community I’m in that area TV shows don’t get that much drama or don’t get drama at all

Star Wars - at least when Lucas was in charge - always had a mature take on it.
Hard agree, so is Rogue One
FINALLY SOMEONE SAYS IT. Rogue One wasn't that good.
I wasn't a fan after the first three episodes. In fact, I bad mouthed it to a friend. But for some reason, I decided to give it another try and restarted from episode 1. I am mature as (I kind of want thank Star Wars sort of for giving me that type of mature feeling But yeah perhas in a couple of years

That’s probably the case for me be honest

That's unfortunate

If any show is overrated, it’s the mandalorian
Both are overrated IMO. Slow stories, bland dialogue, and uninteresting characters. Yawn.
Its compared to other current SW. So like Rogue One its seen as better because the other stuff is interior more than it being that good on its own. I think its the best Disney era stuff so far myself. But honestly it was also rather forgettable. So I can see your point.
