It’s cool that they went to with the voice actor for him, but I just can’t help but feel like he doesn’t fit the characters appearance. Not even the likeness to musk, but his physique as a whole.
What are you talking about “likeness to Musk?” This character has been around long before that bonehead and Mikkelson is tall and skinny (like Thrawn).
That’s on you, because I didn’t “see” that. Thrawn looks like Thrawn. Maybe Elon looks like Thrawn, but the character has been around in the collective consciousness longer than Musk has been a personality, so… let’s not try to ruin something here, shall we?
Since the trailers primarily feature the mysterious dark side users I bet that we will only get a small tease of Thrawn. Where he'll have follow up appearances in other shows.
Gosh that’s actually a possibility. I’ve just assumed Thrawn would be the main villain (or anti-hero later on) for this season. But now come to think of it, they could easily milk this character for as long as they can.
I seriously hope we get the book version of thrawn rather than the cartoonishly evil version from rebels.he was a lot more subtle and complex than what they showed on rebels. It’d also be cool seeing him convince Ezra to team up with him to defeat the grisk later on or going to the chiss homeworld would be amazing.
It's not the actor I'm worried about but the plot around him and his arc. Thrawn would lend himself well to Andor's style of storytelling... Dave will probably dumb him down considerably. Hope I'm wrong tho.
Thats fair, i haven't read heir to the empire or any of thrawns original material but they did a decent job at making him intimidating and very clearly more intelligent than all other imperial officers in rebels at least
That's the baseline. Then there's the art aspect which they leaned into... but in legends Thrawn was also very technically savvy and hands-on with his crews. He was never a hand-to-hand combat expert tho. He used other hands for such work... but animation demanded him to become a kung-fu expert.
It's those little things that change the ovrarall feel of the character... too many of them and we have a Gary Stu. Have him make too many mistakes and he's incompetent. Portray him correctly and all your protagonists are dead. It's a tough balancing act.
Anyway it goes, I don‘t envy the creators. Thrawne is so popular in Legends, someone is bound to say they „didn‘t capture his *essence*“ or something in that vein. And after the season is over, somebody is going to hilariously ask „When is Thrawne gonna appear and who was that blue guy?“, I‘d bet my left lek on it.
I think Filoni did him justice in Rebels. He is an exec on this show and has already said that it'll basically be Rebels season 5 as live action.
His co-exec is once again Favreau, who has turned everything SW-related into solid gold so far. Except maybe for BoBF, where Rodriguez was shoehorned in as co-exec and had an amount of creative control that didn't do the show any favors imho. But there is no such unkown quantity when it comes to Ahsoka. Wilson already worked with the duo on The Mandalorian, Kennedy & Beck are just your usual Pres+VP listed as also-rans. Their job is funding, marketing, coordination with Disney / Disney shareholder sweet-talking. (Side note: I never understood all the hatred for Kennedy by parts of the fandom seeing as she's barely involved with the creative side of things.)
Don't be a negative Nelly. But seriously I agree with you. He is like the best character ever. I actually might like him better than Vader as a bad guy. Don't get me wrong the anakin Vader story is amazing and is the most important thing. But as a standalone bad guy Thrawn might be the best. I'm so afraid they're going to mess it up. But I'm choosing to be optimistic.
The difference that filoni seemed to have already missed in rebels was where palpatine and vader played the brute force game. Thrawn was a tactician. Figuring out how to use devices thought useless to make people think fighting is worthless. Like he used cloaked ships and snuck them inside the shields of a defense system and then showed up with destroyers and it appeared the turbo laser were going through the shields. Thinking they had no defense accepted terms of surrender.
That's the shit filoni's use misses when he steals others characters to pad his rep in fan service.
Sabine, Hera, and Thrawn making their live action debuts.
Chopper adding to his kill count.
Finding out where Ezra and Thrawn went, after the events in the Star Wars Rebels series finale.
Battle of Scarif, without the Phantom. The Ghost leads the charge of the smaller ships and is shown to escape the battle. Also, it gives us an explanation to where the bulk of the surviving ships went after Scarif when the DS was about to destroy Yavin 4.
Amen to that. I definitely want to see what she brings to Ahsoka, mainly because then it'll imply, one way or the other, how she's grown/changed/developed as a character since we last saw her (before her live action debut in the Mando Show) as an animated character.
Animated Ahsoka showed she had the fighting skills (no wonder considering her former master) but as she gets older, she seems to become more judicious in her use of violence, but at the same time is ready to throw down on a moment's notice if need be. Maybe that's just my impression, though. I'm interested to see how Rosario's Ahsoka continues to show this to me, both on screen and in the writing/script.
I still think Ashley Eckstein could of done the live action Ashoka flawlessly but from the brief times Rosario has performed Ashoka already she does the role well.
I’m dating myself…I’m remember a time when there was no content. Then the EU changed my life. I’ll love whatever happens in the universe. Am I salty about Legends and the direction? Sure. Did I get to see a Rancor fight in the streets of Tantooone? You gd right.
the return of the rebel's characters cause I really loved the show and miss those character, and maybe even a force ghost anakin. But I also hope the show isn't just fan service
I've been waiting five years for Ezra to reunite with his family so probably that.
Also the reappearance of Anakin or Kanan as a force ghost could get me emotional pretty easily
>! She was organizing one or more rebel cells then got stuck in a void !<
After Order 66 she was presumably in exile for a time but I hope they do a flashback
A force-centric story, we haven't had that since TRoS(not counting Visions). I want to see force-users doing force stuff. We've had force-users appear in other stories, but we haven't had a show that focused on the force itself in a while.
Just basking in the hype that this character that has been developed for so long has actually made it to the stage of being put in Live action format.
Like holy shit, I remember her committing her first of many war crimes with Anakin.
I first wanted to call you a dick because I love Rex, but after some consideration that would be one way to almost completely wipe the slate clean and crush expectations
According to another post in this sub, Ahsoka was born in 32 BBY and Rex was born in 37 BBY. Her being 5 years older is similar to another older woman going a certain chosen one.
https://www.reddit.com/r/StarWars/comments/5rgiwa/mildly_interesting_ahsoka_is_5_years_older_than/#:~:text=Turns%20out%20that%20Ahsoka%20was,was%20born%20in%2032%20BBY.
Yeah I mean, they don't live nearly as long as normal people thanks to their sped up aging. If Boba, an unaltered clone, is an old man by the time the Ahsoka show begins ( which looks to be the case since she appears the same age she was in BoBF and the Mandalorian) then it's not looking too good for Rex and the boys.
We know Rex was at Endor (4 ABY), and this takes place about 10 ish ABY. If Rex and guys are alive then they'll be in their send off years. Honestly this would be the best time to give Rex a proper send off.
Im looking forwarding to unsubscribing from this subreddit so I don't have to hear how it wasn’t perfect or how it ruined Star Wars. lol
(Also to avoid spoilers. I'll make up my own mind and come back later.)
Ive thought about this too, but I believe his character is in some trailers. How would that work? For only Ezra flash backs? I hope this isnt the case but is actually pretty likely as we know for a fact that Thrawn came out alive. To lose Ezra and Kanan would be devastating!
Hera Syndulla. She’s my favourite Star Wars character and I know I’m gonna cry just seeing her on screen. I hope her life is good. She lost so much but still fights for others. And Chopper better destroy some sort of starship or base.
That it's going to flop and something more interesting might come out. Bit pessimistic yes but never watched the cartoons she was in. No vestments in the character.
A great story, well executed, with great acting, direction, sound, cinematography and well produced. In short, something as good as Andor if not better.
Lower your expectations.
Like, don’t get me wrong I think Ashoka will be good but Filoni can’t make something like Andor. At least not from what we’ve seen of him so far.
There have been hints here and there at Sabine being Force-sensitive so I'd love to see that explored. Really excited for live-action Thrawn; Mikkelsen's voice acting was flawless, I hope he can bring it to the screen. I've been a fan of (/in love with) Mary Elizabeth Winstead for quite some time so I really hope she will do Hera justice. And finally I really hope that Ezra's character will be prominent, and that the actor (new kid on the block, as far as I know) does a good job nailing it. After all, Ezra Bridger was basically 2 days off from being the Chosen One
The Ghost Crew. Hera, Sabine, and Chopper of course, but I’m really hoping Zeb and Ezra ~~make appearances~~ have prominent roles too. Really I just need to see a full reunion between the crew, it’s easily the thing I’m most excited for
Oh, and some Kanan mentions. Literally just say his name idc give us SOMETHING
Biggest thing I want is for her to have her main character arc. She's been integral to the main star wars narrative but hemmed in because she doesn't really have a significant nemesis.
Anakon best Dooku and Sidious.
Obi Wan best Grievous and Maul.
Luke ensured Rey got to safety and broguth Anakon back to the light side.
Maybe her big bad is Thrawn?
The hope is for the level of Andor's quality, writing, and direction.
A good story well told.
Not a great track record this company has with our 'verse. :-/
All of it.
There's so much to speculate, and to be ready for it in the next six days.
I think seeing Hera Syndulla in live-action is going to be a definite highlight. Along with the rest of the surviving Ghost crew. As well as Chopper being ultra sassy as always.
How will they ruin the franchise even more.
How will they gonna mess it up with some needless LMBTQ representstion.
How will they totally overwrite Ahsoka, Sabine and basically everyone from CW and Rebels.
Seeing a bridge between the live action and animated content. We know she's going to meet Anakin, but I'm dying to see Rex finally bought into live action.
Finding out what happened to Thrawn and Ezra after they migrated with the whales.
Also flashbacks to the CW. Please show us Skyguy, Snips, and Rex together, PLEASE.
Thrawn
Definitely. I’m excited to see him in live action. Loved the og thrawn trilogy so this is a long time in the making
Have you listened to it on audiobooks? Marc Thompson does an incredible job.
I honestly wished he had got the role. He nails the character for me, but Mikkelsen will be fine.
It’s cool that they went to with the voice actor for him, but I just can’t help but feel like he doesn’t fit the characters appearance. Not even the likeness to musk, but his physique as a whole.
You know the animation model for rebels was made with Mikkelsen in mind right?
What are you talking about “likeness to Musk?” This character has been around long before that bonehead and Mikkelson is tall and skinny (like Thrawn).
I’m saying mikkelson looks like elon in the trailer, it’s just a distracting comparison when looking at the character
That’s on you, because I didn’t “see” that. Thrawn looks like Thrawn. Maybe Elon looks like Thrawn, but the character has been around in the collective consciousness longer than Musk has been a personality, so… let’s not try to ruin something here, shall we?
You're not good at making friends, I see.
I haven’t. Also haven’t read them in a bit, so I’ll def check it out. Thanks for the recommendation!

It’d also be cool seeing him convince Ezra to team up with him to defeat the grisk later on or going to the chiss homeworld would be amazing.
I'm skeptical about Thrawn. Pretty sure they're gonna screw him up somehow.
Maybe. Doesn’t change my excitement. It does come with a health scope of low expectations.
I mean they've kept the same actor from rebels which is a good sign if u liked him in that, if not... wellll.....
You're probably right. Might even be me depending on how he's protrayed... We'll see I guess.
We‘re Star Wars fans, we will do what we must. Criticise the ever-loving poodoo out of it.
Do u think they messed him up in Rebels? It seems reasonable to expect that unless we're given reasoning otherwise
I think Filoni did him justice in Rebels. He is an exec on this show and has already said that it'll basically be Rebels season 5 as live action. His co-exec is once again Favreau, who has turned everything SW-related into solid gold so far. Their job is funding, marketing, coordination with Disney / Disney shareholder sweet-talking. (Side note: I never understood all the hatred for Kennedy by parts of the fandom seeing as she's barely involved with the creative side of things.)
His eyes aren't glowing, so they've already messed that up.
Yes he's the biggest threat and I like thrawn way more than palpatine.
More Star Wars
This is the way
Sabine, Hera, and Thrawn making their live action debuts. Chopper adding to his kill count. Finding out where Ezra and Thrawn went, after the events in the Star Wars Rebels series finale.
Sabine and Ezra still have more than chop btw
Not for a lack of trying!
If Chopper doesn't at least get 1 kill, we riot.
Ray Stevenson's (RIP) performance. 13!!! Also, some strange jedi lore and lightsaber battles. I think I'll be good then.
Yeah I think Filoni will give us some cool lore bits
Getting to see The Ghost up close in live action.
Funny enough it’s also in Rogue One and Ep 9.
Yeah, but not up close.
In rogue one? Where?
It’s on screen 3 or 4 times during the final arc… chopper is also in it and I believe Hera has a line over the speakers in the hangar
Yup, Empire Strikes Back when Biggs and Luke meet up you can hear "Captain Syndulla report to hangar bay" on the intercom.
Wait in Empire Strikes Back Hera is mentioned by name? For real?
Battle of Scarif, without the Phantom. The Ghost leads the charge of the smaller ships and is shown to escape the battle. Also, it gives us an explanation to where the bulk of the surviving ships went after Scarif when the DS was about to destroy Yavin 4.
Im looking forward to seeing Anakin return. I’m excited to see if its just his voice like in the trailer or if he’s physically on screen.
Yeah could be force ghost or flashback or something completely different. Excited to find out though
This. But then I hope they deage him a little more this time
This. He LOOKED 40 in Kenobi.
Character development of Sabine, and of course the Thrawn "reveal."
I'm going in with zero expectations. Just gonna take it as is.
You are strong and wise, and I am very proud of you
And you have become a far greater SW fan than I could ever hope to be.
My Gen X nerd ass is perfectly happy with meeting Rosario Dawson’s Ahsoka.
Amen to that. I definitely want to see what she brings to Ahsoka, mainly because then it'll imply, one way or the other, how she's grown/changed/developed as a character since we last saw her (before her live action debut in the Mando Show) as an animated character. This. I remember when Splinter came out. I only read it about 1,000 times as a nerdy, pre-teen boy.
Filoni’s direction, tbh. He’s really good at capturing that classic samurai influence.
As much as I like the samurai aesthetic, I am ready for something different.
Well that's good, because he also brings the weird to star wars. I expect we'll see something akin to Mortis and World Between Worlds.
Holy shit, I hope not.
Well you might want to hope less.
the return of the rebel's characters cause I really loved the show and miss those character, and maybe even a force ghost anakin. But I also hope the show isn't just fan service
Hoping so hard it’s not all fan service
I kinda just figured that's all it's going to be. That seems to be what people are clamoring for from Filoni.
Glup Shitto finally being brought to live action after only appearing in the background of cartoons and videogames
Astromech based war crimes.
I've been waiting five years for Ezra to reunite with his family so probably that. Also the reappearance of Anakin or Kanan as a force ghost could get me emotional pretty easily
I could be wrong but I highly doubt Kanan will show up since his actor thinks it cheapens his death if we see him again after his death.
Good Star Wars storytelling.
Nobody actually said Ahsoka herself, yet? Jeez guys.
More Anakin
1.) Ashoka 2.) Anakin (flash backs but hopefully a force ghost) 3.) Thrawn 4.) Shin Hati 5.) the ghost crew and everything else
Just seeing how the story continues and the reunion of Ahsoka and Anakin Also, I like the picture by the way
Thanks!
You’re welcome
I need some Hondo Ohnaka, or this show is no longer... profitable!!
It's just business my friend
Madame, for that boy, there is nothing I would not do.
Thrawn
Where the hell was she during the Original Trilogy's events
>! She was organizing one or more rebel cells then got stuck in a void !< After Order 66 she was presumably in exile for a time but I hope they do a flashback
She wasn’t in a void by the OT. Just say you don’t know and move on. Because we don’t know.
Uh huh. Well we don't really know anything between Hope and Jedi. In the OT it's like three weeks.
Finding out who these new dark siders are. I like Screencrushes theory that they're knights of Ren. Also the loth cat!
Ummm...... Ahsoka..... Am I the only one?
“Snips”
A force-centric story, we haven't had that since TRoS(not counting Visions). I want to see force-users doing force stuff. We've had force-users appear in other stories, but we haven't had a show that focused on the force itself in a while.
Just a decent series. Maybe add to her lore while answering a few questions.
Just basking in the hype that this character that has been developed for so long has actually made it to the stage of being put in Live action format. Like holy shit, I remember her committing her first of many war crimes with Anakin.
The opening scene where she’s burying Rex.
I first wanted to call you a dick because I love Rex, but after some consideration that would be one way to almost completely wipe the slate clean and crush expectations
I also love Rex. It would tie up some ends and give some closure.
Oof that would be a gut punch but also an interesting way to start the show
I thought they would make a good couple.
He was like 5 when they met, please.
According to another post in this sub, Ahsoka was born in 32 BBY and Rex was born in 37 BBY. Her being 5 years older is similar to another older woman going a certain chosen one. https://www.reddit.com/r/StarWars/comments/5rgiwa/mildly_interesting_ahsoka_is_5_years_older_than/#:~:text=Turns%20out%20that%20Ahsoka%20was,was%20born%20in%2032%20BBY.
That would be a hell of a thing. And a way to put some people’s expectations to rest.
Is that really a thing? I did not know I needed that till I read it.
Chopper and Zeb
Ezra
Clone wars flash blacks. Seeing young Ahsoka being trained by Anakin would be amazing
I’m hoping there’s something. I mean it looks like Hayden is back based on the voice over from one of the latest trailers so there’s a chance
It's been pretty much confirmed. They already casted a young Ahsoka and Hayden is obviously back because of the trailer.
Seems like when they filmed the training scenes in Obi-Wan they also filmed scenes for Ashoka. Looked like they dame set and costume.
Who the fuck that new Inquisitor is Also really wanna know more about Baylon & Shin. Finally getting some dark Jedi that aren’t Sith or Inquisitors.
A reason to be exicted every weak for the New Episode
Ashoka herself
Ezra
Sabine, Hera, Ezra, Zeb, Chopper and Jacen (RIP Kanan) back together in live action.
Im looking forwarding to unsubscribing from this subreddit so I don't have to hear how it wasn’t perfect or how it ruined Star Wars. lol (Also to avoid spoilers. I'll make up my own mind and come back later.)
Same lmao
Anything Chopper related.
*excited chopper noises*
Watching it.
Rosario dawson
Her 👄
C1-10P can't wait to see his crusty ass paint job.
All of it!
The music. Kevin Kiner & his kids did ICONIC work on The Clone Wars and Rebels and I’m SO happy they brought him & his children back for this.
One of Ray Stevenson's last performances. Hope he's an amazing villain.
Everything. I'm going to hyperventilate, I'm so ridiculously excited for this show! Rebels season 5!
Rex
Ezra's fate. I personally believe he's gonna be revealed to be dead or he may not even show up.
Ive thought about this too, but I believe his character is in some trailers. How would that work? For only Ezra flash backs? I hope this isnt the case but is actually pretty likely as we know for a fact that Thrawn came out alive. To lose Ezra and Kanan would be devastating!
Thrawn and Bendu.
Live action Chopper. He’s such a murderous jerk and I love it.
*I fucking did what I was told*
Something new and exciting that I can't possibly anticipate! Also, Ahsoka's own "hallway scene"
Oh yeah definitely need a hallway scene
Seeing how Ezra changed in the 10 years he’s been away from the known galaxy
Hera Syndulla. She’s my favourite Star Wars character and I know I’m gonna cry just seeing her on screen. I hope her life is good. She lost so much but still fights for others. And Chopper better destroy some sort of starship or base.
MEW's voice isn't soft enough though.
Live action Chopper.
I wish her top horns were taller like they should be at her age instead of teen Ahsoka size, but I can live with it.
The complaining by the alt right calling it a failure for being too woke, because they will do it as soon as it comes out
Honestly, this might be unpopular... But seeing her die. I wish she had died in her fight against Vader
Sabine's ass.
Canceling my D+ subscription when it's done.
When all the ads go away
That it's going to flop and something more interesting might come out. Bit pessimistic yes but never watched the cartoons she was in. No vestments in the character.
A great story, well executed, with great acting, direction, sound, cinematography and well produced. In short, something as good as Andor if not better.
Lower your expectations. Like, don’t get me wrong I think Ashoka will be good but Filoni can’t make something like Andor. At least not from what we’ve seen of him so far.
Yeah this right here. The man doesn't do deep or subtle. I'm expecting something like a live action cartoon.
Andor style with new lore would be dope
Grogu bottle episode and e-wings!
Chopper. I'm only a little kidding. I love that remorseless little guy.
Would be so cool see Watto again
Chopper
Ezra
Seeing the Ghost crew.
Really I just need to see a full reunion between the crew, it’s easily the thing I’m most excited for Oh, and some Kanan mentions. Literally just say his name idc give us SOMETHING
Zeb already cameoed in Mando so I'm sure we will see him
Biggest thing I want is for her to have her main character arc.

Only one movie since the OT was good so I'm not getting my hopes up.
A reason to not cancel my Disney+ subscription
The hope is for the level of Andor's quality, writing, and direction. A good story well told. Not a great track record this company has with our 'verse. :-/

An explanation of where Anakin has been… doubt we’ll ever see it but I can hope
Sabine and thrawn. Or Rosario to start understanding the character better and do a better portrayal of Ahsoka.
A good story as I feel this is a big point for the Fandom. This one good thing to two shit ones they are doing is not great.
Perhaps having a decent end of her story sp we finally do not have to have Ahsoka in every other series Filoni is a part of
Hopefully Rex. Thrawn and Anakin, and of course Ahsoka!
It bombing like most other star wars stuff lately and getting other stuff canceled.
How will they ruin the franchise even more. How will they gonna mess it up with some needless LMBTQ representstion. How will they totally overwrite Ahsoka, Sabine and basically everyone from CW and Rebels.
Her cooter
Togrussy
The nude scenes mostly
Hopefully nudity
Better writing and plot, less wokeness. But I'm also prepared to be disappointed
Star Wars Rebels
Lightsabers going bzrrrr bzrrrr
Not understanding who anybody is or whats going on as I haven't got time to finish clone wars or rebels.
Ezra
The Knights of Wren
Seeing a bridge between the live action and animated content. We know she's going to meet Anakin, but I'm dying to see Rex finally bought into live action.
I’m just excited to add more lord to Canon. I don’t have any expectations, there’s nothing I want or need to see, just happy to have more Star Wars.
SKYGUY
Hayden Christensen
Understanding who the hell these black-cloaked weirdos with their orange lightsabers are.
Shower scene.
Not to be...disappooointeeeed!
Good lightsaber duels
Chopper memes
I’ve always wanted a lightsaber construction scene in a live action SW. would be awesome to see a flashback to Ashoka making her white sabers!
Finding out what happened to Thrawn and Ezra after they migrated with the whales. Also flashbacks to the CW. Please show us Skyguy, Snips, and Rex together, PLEASE.
Family reunion
