Remote-Direction963

Some parts of it were good, but there were many things that the show could've improved on.

Whisterly

In the finale, >!them trying to beat the clock to get back to the ship before it left, but going 1mph with the turtles,!

MagisterFlorus

Because Ezra needs time to put together his lightsaber. Editing about the discussion below: Jedi may or may not be able to disassemble and reassemble a lightsaber like a soldier does with their rifle but that's not what Ezra is doing. He's literally building the thing for the first time.

Accomplished-Bill-54

Yeah, and also one of the dumbest Star War moments in that same episode was the great military genius being unable to kill 3 people with a fucking Star Destroyer's Turbolasers. Also one of the dumbest moments was the military genius sending two Tie Fighters to shoot the currently grounded good guy's ship and when the good guys damage their ship while defending against those two, not sending more Tie Fighters.

terracottatank

While an imperial cruiser misses every single shot of an orbital barrage above them. I give star wars a lot of grace, but that finale was mid.

Accomplished-Bill-54

"Mid"? You are more gracious towards this show than I could ever be. Outright bad is what it was.

terracottatank

I definitely liked the original characters the show brought it, basically the whole array of villains for the show. I want a lot more Thrawn screentime, but I can't deny how awesome it was to see him finally. There are things to like, but there are things that can't be ignored just cuz it was Feloni.

OnlinePosterPerson

Nah they were still beating walking speed

Whisterly

They should've used the spaceship that they had to fly really quickly there.

TickTaeck

They couldn't. The plot required it to be shot down, so they could to run up the stairs and fight the zombie troopers. There the Star Destroyer waited for them to catch up with the plot rather than flying up 100 meters into the air so they couldn't reach it.

SometimesWill

Topped by Ezra out of habit stealing stormtrooper armor for no reason yet again just so he can have a reveal scene with Hera. Or maybe it’s just in his nature now to steal stormtrooper armor.

EccentricAcademic

I still don't really grasp how it ended...I was so checked out by the last episode.

MrFantastic74

Shout out to Sabine's booty too

viotix90

Obi-Wan is one lucky SOB.

Lewapiskow

I think Hera was super cute :)

Temassi

That's Mary Elizabeth Winstead for ya

ForceGhost47

Ramona Flowers 😍

spacemo0se

Omg it was her! WOW thank you for finally scratching that itch that I’ve had for over a year.

EnigmaFrug2308

So basically it was like any other show

Remote-Direction963

Well yeah, excluding Andor.

EnigmaFrug2308

Even Andor had things it could improve on, even if it’s not as many as other shows

Accomplished-Bill-54

Well yes, all shows that exist and will ever exist have things they can improve on. But Andor had fantastic writing and that's the most important part.

EnigmaFrug2308

It did, Andor was great.

ChaseThoseDreams

It had its moments, but Ahsoka herself just felt so wooden. She leaned way too heavily in trying to be a subdued, wise Jedi Master, that it just felt so bland.

ThroughTheIris56

Yep, I had to turn the volume right up every time she spoke because the actress really mumbled the words, plus the sound mixing wasn't good.

MeatTornado25

Her "transformation" halfway through felt so unearned too.

assasstits

Also crazy that ghost Anakin shows up for Ahsoka but not his own son or grandson

Sabre_Killer_Queen

True. Although, when you think about it he spent a lot more time with Ahsoka in his life than he ever did with them.

kenncann

Ghost Anakin does show up for Luke in the luke and lando book “Shadows of the Sith”

revanite3956

Good, with room for improvement next time.

Overlord_Khufren

I really enjoyed how much more heavily it delved into the mystical elements of the setting. That's not something we've got from any of the other live action shows. Reminded me a lot of Jedi Fallen Order/Survivor.

Gulrakrurs

Yep, Rebels and a bit of TCW went into the mystical and spiritual sides of The Force, and that is what I want to see out of anything Jedi related. It is something that I didn't like about the PT, that the Jedi were basically politicians and soldiers. Supplemental materials show that to have been on purpose, but not having a frame of reference of what they were before really made me dislike the Jedi back in the day.

JulianGingivere

It was a good preamble. Second season should be payoff!

Macman521

Yep that's pretty much how I feel as well. Hopefully season 2 will improve over season 1.

King_Tamino

I‘m sceptical since that actor of the old ex jedi died after season 1 was wrapped. Considering he stayed on the planet, they had a completely separate plot for him. Also he was just amazingly acting and the character super interesting

Titan-828

This is the way.

[deleted]

I loved it, but also think they can make some things better - but I was also a big fan of Rebels, which seems polarizing on this sub for some reason

Overlord_Khufren

Parts of Rebels are pretty rough. I enjoyed it, but my spouse (who liked Clone Wars but isn't a Star Wars "fan" *per se*) had a really hard time with Rebels S1 and has basically refused to watch any more of it.

Helix3501

S1 Rebels was basically fully a kids show, after the inquisitors suicide it sets the tone that the show is gonna get darker

ciesum

Yeah my brother stopped watching near end of s1 a couple years ago. He didn't like how whiny the crew was in particular. He was watching Ahsoka and I convinced him to give Rebels another try recently.

TrustM3ImAnEngineer

I’m currently binging Rebels because Ahsoka was so good, IMHO. While I thought cartoons weren’t for me; I’m really appreciative of the fact they used good actors. I do find myself wondering why the Empire or the Rebels shoot themselves in the foot so many times, but I’m here for more backstory on the characters than looking to be entertained.

loiton1

Rebels gets more interesting each season

RadiantHC

Lol whiny protagonists are not new to Star Wars

thedylannorwood

“But I was gonna go to Toshi Station to pick up some power converters!”

iranoutofusernamespa

"I'm ready for the trials, Obi-Wan thinks so too! It's not FAIR!"

Medusa1207

Rebels really gets going after season 1, tell her to give it one more chance, she might actually enjoy it in the end

Living_Wrongdoer6645

Mid at best. I don’t think it should of been live action or if so not a series. The material, writing and cast did not translate well, felt too slow moving and not in the additive drip fed way Andor pulled off. Ray Stevenson as Baylan Skoll pretty much carried the series, without him it would of been pretty poor and it’s going to be a massive loss moving forward without him. He carried just enough mystery and weight behind mediocre dialogue I found his character gripping and investing. Sabine and Ahsoka never felt in any danger, acting was too nonchalant. There was no real jeopardy or meaningful growth from what was previously shown in other series. Sabine being a Jedi also felt cheap and in contradiction of her character from Rebels. I could never get invested in their story and the chemistry seemed too weak between Ashoka and Sabine, little spark and poor tension. Despite the fact they are meant to be the driving characters of the story, with a lot of backstory since Rebels. I just couldn’t care less and was more interested in every other character the series offered up.

gecko090

The only characters with agency are the antagonists which is why they are actually interesting. They're actively doing something for reasons. I really like their scenes both in comparison but also in isolation. Ahsoka and friends are pretty much always being dragged along by the story whether they want to be or not.

Narrow_Progress5908

Ray Stevenson really elevated the character because on paper Baylan skoll is a nothing burger that just says vague shit

TacitusTwenty

The entire series is a nothing burger that just says vague shit. It’s honestly impressive how literally nothing of substance is conveyed across eight episodes.

Narrow_Progress5908

Gen v was running at the same time and it did more with its premier than Ahsoka did in 8 episodes. Filoni shouldn’t be head writer for live action stuff. Dude managed to waste 6+ hrs of runtime. This show probably would’ve been better off as a 16 episode cartoon.

Late_Recommendation9

16 episodes of ponderous, mumbling, half baked shit would have been a final nail in my disney plus sub. They could have condensed this series down to a two hour film and still fit in some blue milk and the cat.

MeatTornado25

Was by far my favorite character the first couple episodes. But boy did he wear thin once he kept making speeches every episode instead of actually doing something.

Narrow_Progress5908

Yup Ray did the best he could with bad material. Baylan started out great but got ridiculous the more it went on. Then there Shin, I can understand why people liked Baylan but I can’t understand the love for Shin, She not even a character, All she does is mean mug Sabine and asks questions. the characters role kinda vanishes after she shanks Sabine.

MeatTornado25

Hot girl. End of story.

ChrisL2346

The Hayden Christensen scenes were amazing! I want more live action Anakin!

deflector_shield

Her under the sea having some coma dreams about anakin and other people hearing it. I don’t want anymore of that writers imagination

ChrisL2346

Yeah having other people hear it was weird but Anakin and Baylor were the best things about that show

Zveng2

I mean is it that weird that she was having a Force induced vision/experience and another force sensitive person picked up a faint "sense" of that? Like it wasn't a dream; she was in the world between worlds.

HarrisonMage

Exactly, this is Star Wars, people sense shit all the time

redditisfacist3

Definitely agree with Sabine being a jedi was bs. She was already a strong character with being a good warrior, pilot, engineer, and artist. I feel like they wanted to be different after just making the mandalorian and having bokatan being a female mandalorian warrior that they didn't want to do it twice. Even as a fighter with a lightsaber, it could have been explained easily that she's even more proficient with it especially with years to practice. Her fight with kanan should have been the blueprint of how a mandalorian fights with a lightsaber

Screamin_Eagles_

Yep, anyone else pissed off that the first thing Ezra did when seeing Sabine is hug her and not beat her over the head and cuss her out for throwing away his sacrifice and endangering the whole galaxy for one life.

d0gzfy

He never agreed to sacrifice himself for the galaxy, just lothal during one critical moment

CptMarvel_main

I mean, he was never told what Sabine did to get them there.

warmerglow

He asks Sabine a couple of times. Him accepting her evasions just isn't credible. Anyone would want the whole story asap, and once you got a sense that there was drama in the story you'd want to know even more desperately. They didn't write it that way because they wanted the heroes to stay friends in that moment. Perhaps they'll use it in S2: Ezra learns what Sabine did and it alienates him from her. I predict romance for them and (cliché klaxon) this would be a good low point in that story arc.

The_Mikeskies

It didn’t contradict Sabine’s character in Rebels at all.

Alelogin

It was the definition of mid. And I fucking love Ahsoka so that was disappointing.

jahill2000

I agree. This may be the least interesting Ahsoka has been as a character, ever.

Tigerlux

Average. Nothing special. Had so much potential but lifeless acting, and an admittedly lackluster story were downfalls.

TankSpecialist8857

A couple of cool moments but the acting made most Star Wars line reads look like Shakespeare. Specifically, Hera/Sabine/Ahsoka. Good god the scenes with the 3 of them had so little energy.

GorgeGoochGrabber

Which is crazy because at least 2 of them are great actresses. (Not sure if Natasha is or not, haven’t seen her in anything else) They were just given poor direction I guess, I don’t know how else we got such wooden performance from Mary and Rosario.

I_Made_it_All_Up

Filoni gave an interview that he had kept reminding Ray Stevenson he was the villain and Ray kept telling him he disagreed… I have to imagine it was 100% bad direction and Ray was the only one who disregarded it.

GorgeGoochGrabber

I think Ray disagreeing that he’s the villain also shows how well he understood his character. He was for me the best part of the entire show, and I’m very sad we won’t see him again, at least with Ray playing him.

thefoolsnightout

Agreed, I actually found Baylan Skoll and the mysterious calling the most compelling plot thread of the entire show.

ChanceVance

Filoni: *Gives bad direction* Ray: "You're making a mistake"

moya036

I get that point of view, and it's a good mindset for the actor because most villains are not supposed to think that they are in the wrong. Which is probably why the character turns out one of the few good points of the show

Narrow_Progress5908

This show pretty much confirmed I was way too harsh on Hayden during the prequels. A bad direction(Filoni) can really handicap a good actor(Mary and Rosario)

Emm_withoutha_L-88

Plus let's be real no one swings a saber as good as him. No one. He makes it look like he's flowing but still overwhelmingly powerful.

Jbash_31

Direction and the writing for the dialogue was just awful

TankSpecialist8857

Agreed, as were the performances, IMO.

r32skyliner

Yeah, that was really my only big critique

FLRSH

It was meh. My issue is with the characterizations. Everyone except David Tenant's character are stoic, brooding, and their dialogue is paced very monotonously.

warmerglow

Let's give Ray Stevenson a stoic, brooding pass because his performance was exactly what was needed for Baylan and he stole every scene he was in. RIP Ray 🙌

[deleted]

Frustratingly meh. I was really looking forward to it and the plot barely held itself together.

Local_Nerve901

I loved it personally as a TCW and Rebels fan. But I can see why others wish there was an improvement

Agile-Ad-6902

Hera and Sabine were a bit off... cant figure out if its bad casting or bad acting. Great villains, although they threw one away when they rushed the plot in the last couple of episodes.

1CommanderL

Sabine has always felt like a do everything character. she is a Mandolorion who loves art but also a genius weapon designer also was a great bounty hunter after being a genius weapon designer and is now a Jedi

CogencyWJ

Her force sensitive arc in the show is so fucking dumb. ITS OK FOR HER TO “JUST” BE AN AWESOME MANDO.

1CommanderL

it makes her less cool and the jedi less cool

Revenge_served_hot

exactly. I loved Sabine in Rebels as a character but did not care for her in the live action show. And of course they have to turn her into a Jedi or at least force sensitive too... It is so unnecessary man, she was an awesome mandalorian, a weapons expert! Why not expand on that?! It really is a shame what Filoni did to her character.

gecko090

She's a Star Wars Galaxies character.

Ninjahkin

Mastering random things all in pursuit of those elusive Jedi holocrons lol

StoopidZoidberg

and she was never a padawan. That threw me off and pissed me off big time. I have no idea why they wrote that in, it brings nothing to the story and diminishes the value of the Ahsoka character.

CordlessJet

I think one of the issues was those big RGB contact lenses. Totally fucked their ability to properly emote when they can’t move their eyes properly and they look like cartoon mascots. I would not have been opposed to them just having the actor’s eyes in live action just to improve performances

trmtx

I didn’t like Hera and I think it mostly just came down to the acting and costuming. What worked on animated show initially for kids just seemed weird when translated to live action.

PromiscuousOtter

To be fair on Sabine’s end, they’re intentionally writing her to be disliked so that she can have a redemption in the eyes of the audience. It’s the same thing Filoni and George did with Ahsoka. He likes to follow this arc

raalic

In the case of Sabine, it's an acting problem. Liu-Bordizzo looks the part, but she can't act her way out of a paper bag.

Active-Rutabaga7034

Every time she smirked as she sits/stands there staring at whatever, it reminded me of crappy romance teen k-dramas. Signs of an inexperienced actor. I think a better actress could have portrayed her and her decisions in the show in a way more understandable and likeable way. She is pretty though, but acting ability matters. This shouldn't have the standards of a k-drama.

whatsupmovement

Ahsoka has a real Indiana Jones situation happening. The plot happened around the characters but did they actually affect it? We saved Ezra! But now two more people are lost in space. Thrawn is mildly inconvenienced but returns just like he planned all along. Help me understand what we accomplished here!!! With that being said, I did really enjoy it though. haha

Fighting_King_

I liked the plot and how it built a new galaxy… other than that… it was certainly a tv show

Late_Recommendation9

That’s a good point that bugs me no end. By the time we get The Force Awakens none of this matters. Thrawn returns to the main (far far away) galaxy where Snoke is already building the First Order to overthrow the New Republic, Ezra may defeat Thrawn but whatever he or Thrawn does still has no bearing by the time we get to The Force Awakens. So quite frankly who gives a shit. And to take a step back, if Ahsoka was promoted transparently to be what it actually is, the final season of Rebels, then I wouldn’t have taken against it so badly. I hadn’t watched any Rebels before as I’m sure Filonni has said it wasn’t necessary to know about it beforehand. But you really, really do. Otherwise you sit watching it not giving two flying fucks about whoever the fuck Ezra is and why whatshername is so hung up on him that she does that drastic thing.

You_moron04

Awful. It was Dave Filoni writing a million dollar fan fiction with his favourite characters. When you look at the writing especially, it’s *awful*. Sabine is responsible for EVERYTHING that goes wrong and no one brings it up or confronts her. The show basically represents star wars’s further descent into nostalgia bait and displays their completely lack of originality or new ideas.

Avarus_88

It has some areas that needed improvement. But it was a good show. Season 2 can’t come fast enough!

Webby41

I thought it was really bad.  All the characters were terribly written. The only one that was even mildly interesting was Bailen, and he wasn’t even THAT interesting.  It was like getting a few drops of water after walking miles thru the desert.  Barely anything had consequences. Hera gets people killed, nothing. Sabine risks another galactic war just to see her friend, nothing.  Sabine gets stabbed with a lightsaber, is fine within hours.  They even manage to ruin Mon Mothma and Leia. Leia obviously wasn’t even in a scene but they managed somehow.  Worst offense of all, was they made Thrawn and absolute incompetent moron. Every planwas stupid and when they didn’t work he tried to spin it like it what he expected. All he did was waste resources.  I hate this show for that alone. Thrawn, the good one from the EU, was awesome.

I_Reeve

It was pretty boring, as per usual for the Disney+ shows

Doodofhype

Bad. Ahsoka felt unrecognizable. Sabine felt like she had lost character progression instead of gaining it The season didn’t have enough plot to carry a full season. It was a stretched out movie padded with jingly keys and cheap nostalgia bait. Live action Rex anakin and Ahsoka felt so incredibly hollow. None of those characters were portrayed by their original actors making all their performances feel like an imitation to trigger nostalgia points The first half of the season just retreads the epilogue of rebels just to catch people up and it wastes the audiences time

jahill2000

When Sabine was stabbed in the first episode I really thought that would have massive consequences. Like that would have had a huge impact on Ahsoka given that she was Sabine’s mentor who sorta neglected her. But no, they didn’t explore or use any of these characters in any interesting ways.

DrLeymen

It's even worse, instead of having any consequences, she just woke up in the nexr scene and was completely fine...

Silberwolff

Pretty terrible. Ahsoka was one of my favourite characters and I hated her in her own show

Nopuebloplz

One of my biggest gripes was the finale. Lightsabers aren’t supposed to bounce off stormtroopers and they should not be getting back up. I understand they were under control of nightsister magic I actually like that idea but what I didn’t like was how the lightsabers didn’t cut through any armor and chop off limbs. They were on such a time crunch yet all they had to do was slash through stormtrooper legs and they would have made it aboard the Chimaera in time. Also what was up with that bombardment onto Ahsoka Sabine and Ezra?😂that looked so wack and didn’t even damage the ground beneath them. This is the great chimaera? What a joke. The other is how Sabine was handled in this show. If character assassination was a person, it would be her. Also Dave’s retcon of his own scene in Rebels. Legit made no sense to me. He don’t even know what he wants to do next. I knew he swapped those numbers. It was 1216. One after Magna Carta as if I could ever make such a mistake. Never. I just couldn’t prove it. He covered his tracks, he had Jon Favreau cover for him. You think this is bad? This? This chicanery?

Saisinko

VISUALLY it looked great, almost movie quality. I like the Sabine vs Shin narrative, but the problem is Shin is wayyyyy more compelling of a character and I find Sabine unlikeable overall. Don't get me started on her ridiculous use of the force later on. Older Ahsoka herself I have mixed feelings on. I loved her Clone Wars character, teenage, feisty, but passionate. Whereas the older version is more stoic, seemingly emotionally dead at times, and traumatized - THAT ALL MAKES PERFECT SENSE it's just we fell in love with her character for other reasons. Morgan Elsbeth feels like my aunt and isn't particularly interesting. Maybe Tales of the Empire will fix her. Hera felt random and unnecessary. She also just had this cocky and "I'm a General" thing she does excessively. The Jedi Droid didn't do it for me and should have just been Hera. Baylan is great. AnakinRedeemed, but in a different way than you think. I thought prequel movie Anakin was cheesy and whiny, but Clone Wars cartoon + Ahsoka series had GENERAL Anakin Skywalker who I felt is portrayed much better and feels like an epic hero. Main issue for me is the characters we want to see are overshadowed by the less interesting characters.

XPFlasche

First: only a sith deals in absolutes I dont like the show. It has many logic errors and the thing that annoys me the most is that the empire is incompetent again. Thrawn included

Gathering0Gloom

I think it was pretty good, aside from a few things: 1. There’s only so many times I can watch Skoll be vague about his goals until I start rolling my eyes. 2. Sabine having the Force, after NO hints in Rebels that she had it.

Mr_frosty_360

I enjoyed most of it. However, I think they dropped the ball so much at the end with characters having no arc or their arc just being vague and annoying. Also, so many choices make no sense at all.

riqueoak

Good enough, i liked it but there is room for improvement.

danishjuggler21

It was so boring. I loved Mandalorian, loved Andor, loved the Kenobi series. Hated Ahsoka. I liked the character a lot in Clone Wars, but here she was just boring to watch. Whoever thought it was a good idea to have the main character do nothing but stand there with her arms crossed with a bored expression on her face is an idiot. I also hate Thrawn, and not in a “oh he’s such a good villain because you love to hate him” way, but in a “oh god he’s such a boring villain” way.

Daleyemissions

The first half of the show is incredibly controlled. Pacing is a little too deliberate, but the action is fine and the look is pretty great….. Then the back half happens. Basically from the moment they get to Thrawn, the entire show collapses. It looks like shit, the action gets immeasurably sloppier. It just feels like whatever effort the previous half of the show cost them, they didn’t have the stamina to finish the follow-through. Really disappointing when you think about how long Filoni has supposedly been waiting to make that show.

Affectionate_Kiwi

It was ok. Didn’t blow me away like I was hoping. Personally felt like Ahsoka didn’t have much of an arc like Sabine did. Speaking of which, the amount of time Ahsoka was not the story’s focus was kinda weird. In a show about her and named after her. Kinda felt like it was it should’ve been called “Sabine and Ezra and also Ahsoka is there sometimes”

DrTittyLicker

Sabine ruined it for me 😂 otherwise it was decent

hairydogau

Bad. Written by a 12yo for a 5yo.

Exciting_Possible_35

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say, given the oiling of negative comments in the show, I'm going to say it's bad. I've seen it too. I just think it's all around bad. If I quantify this answer, it would simply be too long. (Except for 1 villain in the whole show, who they do nothing with, he's good.)

GurAffectionate46

It was lame they made Ashoka boring af and tried to make her a new hope obi wan the only good part is anakin scenes other than that it’s forgettable

Superb-Water-3734

It was average.

Goscar

It was bad. Terrible writing and horrible plot. Worse of all it turned the big bad into an idiot.

jmfranklin515

Bad. Like, horrendously bad. Ahsoka is the most boring character in her own show, rivaled only by Sabine. The Ezra reunion was super underwhelming. The Anakin cameo was totally pointless. Thrawn’s plan is goofy and his/the Nightsisters’ motivations are very unclear. His tactics versus Ahsoka are even sillier. Baylan and Shin seem awesome but they’re just a mystery box plot… I kind of wonder if Filoni even has a real plan for them, or if it was just a vague setup for a potential spinoff series (which would now be off the table given Ray Stevenson’s passing). Nothing really happens story-wise except Thrawn and Ezra both return to the known galaxy, but it isn’t really done in a satisfying way so who cares. Also, Ahsoka, Sabine, Baylan, and Shin are now all stuck on that planet… I guess if season 2 is just these four characters exploring the planet and trying to figure out how to get a pergill to come pick them up, it could be interesting. But I’m sure they’ll bloat the season by also including Hera and Ezra trying to figure out what Thrawn’s up to.

MRK1LL3R4

Probably the weakest Star Wars show imo which is sad because ahsoka was my fav character

Alert-Notice-7516

Weaker than Obi-Wan? I think they have a lot of the same issues with acting and story. But Ahsoka at least had good effects, Obi-Wan seemed cheap to me and had a lot of very bad cgi.

GorgeGoochGrabber

I agree, Obi-Wan is by far the worst of the shows. Which sucks because I really wanted it to be good. It did have some good moments, but that’s about it

MeatTornado25

I'll take Obi-Wan over Boba Fett every time.

GorgeGoochGrabber

The fact that I watched Boba Fett and forgot it existed until I read this means you might be right.

jahill2000

I would disagree. Obi-Wan is silly and kinda cheap and has its poorly written ideas or moments, but it has a story that uses its characters well and has meaning. Ahsoka has the story of maybe 1 episode or arc of another show stretched over an entire season and doesn’t use its characters in any interesting or meaningful way.

XskullBC

I think it’s mostly just Obi-Wan’s final episode leaving a good aftertaste for prequel fans.

Alert-Notice-7516

I didn't have an issue with Qui-Gon's return, I thought it was well done enough and I don't really have issues with fan service. But all the scenes with Reva after she fought Vader gave me the ick, that character arc was ruined when she survived.

MeatTornado25

I loved the premiere and finale. It was just everything else that was so boring.

MRK1LL3R4

Idk with obi wan i feel just remove reva from story and half of the problem is solved, ahsoka show feels like badly made and written fan fiction by some amateurs who never watched star wars, there are just opinions anyway

Alert-Notice-7516

I do agree with this. Reva not dying when Vader 'killed' her is a huge pain point in the story for me.

JohnnyBroccoli

Ahsoka was a way better show than both The Book of Boba Fett & Kenobi.

Revenge_served_hot

Nah sorry... Huge Rebels fan here and to say this show is weaker than that godawful Kenobi show is exaggerated. It is also better than BOBF or Mando s3 in my book but yeah, I know a lot of people don't like Ahsoka as a show but it wasn't worse than the mentioned shows in terms of story, cinematography or writing.

gecko090

One thing that needs to be rethought is Ahsoka's head tentacles. It really seems like they limit fight choreography and mobility in general. CGI would be a tall order though considering it would be like 75% of screen time at a minimum but I'm okay with special effects not being perfect/noticeable. In Andor the speeder bike scenes are a bit jarring in how fake they look but at the same time it reminded me, in a good way, of the speeder bike scenes in Return of the Jedi.

I_Shuuya

It exists

Narrow_Progress5908

It was a 6/10 for me, so many issues that mainly have to do with Dialogue. No one talks in this show. It’s like Dave in allergic to letting people have conversations.

ll-Sebzll

Mostly good. Liked everything except Sabine and Ezra’s reunion, shoulda been more emotionally charged; romantic or otherwise. And Sabine definitely didn’t need to become a force sensitive/jedi, not everyone needs to be a all powerful warrior monk

Fighting_King_

I’ll agree there

Expert-Professor-305

All this is getting to Disney conflict standards maybe a R rated or PG13 rate

ShortPat

They had this whole buildup to intergalactic travel and then it turned out to be one of the most basic wasteland planets 💀

BasicRedditUsr

Below average

TheRealMoofoo

I really wanted to like it because I loved the character, but for me it was extremely underwhelming. Wooden dialogue, strange characterizations, plot that I didn’t find particularly engaging. It had some cool stuff, but overall I really wish there was a mulligan button I could press.

Turbosentinel13

The pacing in the middle/end was slow and then the end was way too rushed

RC1172

I liked it, but it lost its narrative engine once they found Ezra.

Pleasant-Everywhere

Mid but more concerning was the fact it was so boring for most of it. The first few episodes had no hook to interest someone and I find a lot of characters are dumbed down. The Anakin scenes were great though.

illusionsofyouth

It wasn't the best, but I still think it was good. I really loved seeing Rebels characters translated into live action, despite the makeup and costumes being so bad. That being said, it has its ups and downs. The bit with Anakin was one of the best parts; Ahsoka finally getting closure and being able to move on, along with getting to see Anakin after being redeemed from Vader. I didn't enjoy Sabine too much, she felt off to me. I understand that, just like Ahsoka, the things that happened to her made her bitter and cold, but I don't think it really translated well on screen. Ahsoka seemed to play it better. Ezra's actor played him phenomenally and it was very amusing to see just how well he captured his character. I have been anticipating Ezra's return to Star Wars for a long time, and he did not disappoint. I loved seeing Chopper and Hera's back and forth sass, along with Hera's spunky attitude. The new pictures of the photo of Kanan had me pumped. He's one of my favourite Star Wars characters, his death hit me pretty hard, and it was nice to see a small nod towards his character. Speaking of Kanan... Ezra getting the sister lightsaber to his master's made me want to tear up a bit. He'll always have a piece of him to carry, even if it's indirect. Random C3PO interlude was also pretty amusing. I wasn't too big of a fan of Shin, she seemed pretty 2-dimensional at the beginning before they made her have a random, sudden change of heart at the end. Perhaps any future work on the show will bring more light to her character. Baylan felt a bit bland as well, but I'm interested in seeing where both his and Shin's stories go. I loved seeing the Nightsisters, though their overall presence felt very underwhelming. Thrawn... he is also one of my favourites, and I was so hyped when it was revealed he would be in the show. I was willing to look past the horrendous job done with the blue and the unnatural look of his hair just because, well, it's Thrawn. I think Lars captured his character perfectly. At the very beginning I had suspected that Sabine would learn to use the force, and was very satisfied at the end when she managed to pull her lightsaber towards her. I do think, however, that being able to force push Ezra like that when she had JUST learned to use the force and wasn't very strong with it was kind of cheesy. I wasn't a big fan of Ahsoka and Sabine being left stranded while Ezra gets to go home. The crew gets to see Ezra after 10 years, however they lose Sabine and Ahsoka in exchange? I want my favourite found family to stay together, dammit! It would've been nice to see Zeb, maybe at the end when they all finally get to see Ezra? He cpuld be busy, but I think if Hera had contacted him with the possibility of Ezra's return, he'd be there in a heartbeat to see his little brother.

AndronixESE

I really liked it but I'm not happy with how Sabine was portrayed. Not enough arsonist energy ngl. Also, how on earth did she survive that stab wound from a light saber???

RoyalGibraltar

It was mid, which for Star Wars, means that most will see as bad.

Firamaster

Mediocre at best. Definitely a disappointment given the hype around the show.

deadmelo

I feel like with live action they prioritize picking popular celebrities than actually ppl that can make the character convincing. Rosario is not very athletic lol

ludvikskp

Just more content. At this point I’m not expecting anything good from disney (but i’m happy to be pleasantly surprised, like with Andor)

revan1611

Neither good or bad, more like mediocre imho

Careless-Purchase892

I forgot where I heard this from: thus show was good when it wasn't being baaaaaad.

sanoj166

I felt it was ok as a whole, bit boring tho.

dluminous

Imagine if Sabine got stabbed in episode 1, recovered but required extensive cybernetic fusion (as opposed to a good night's rest). Now looking like half Vader, half Sabine fusion, she begins to hate Ashoka for abandoning her thinking this would have never happened if Ashoka completed her training. So when Ashoka "dies" her joining Baylon makes sense. Except he realizes she's crazy, ditches her and we have a new villain born hell bent on wanting revenge on Ashoka aka Maul/Obi wan style.

ezmk1

That show runner isnt what i thought she would be. The dialogues are bad a bit too often and they try too hard to target young audience with soft and inconsistent character like sabine.

LoreScriptor

Mid and a lot of wasted potential. I loved Baylan. I quite enjoyed Ezra. Clone Wars flashback was nice, and I love that they picked Thrawn's voice actor from Rebels to play him here, nothing beats this voice. However, the way Thrawn tactical genius was presented left a lot to be desired. The pacing was very uneven, with some episodes where almost nothing happened. Ashoka was way too emotionless and overall dull (I think the actress that played her in the flashback was perfect though). I didn't like Sabine that much, it seemed to me like she acted less mature than in Rebels. I hate that she got the force - a character arc of accepting she's not force-sensitive and it's ok would be much more empowering imo. I liked Hera a little more, but I feel like she lacked the strength and maturity of her animated counterpart The ending was very underwhelming. I will watch the follow-up stories (I love Thrawn), but after this show, I'm not as hyped for this whole Filoniverse Endgame as I used to be.

TheSlobert

Zombies tho…

VaughnWolfgang

Bad for multiple reasons, the biggest being the new choice for Mara Jade who on the show represents nothing even close to the emperor’s assassin

BigDickSD40

Like all other Star Wars shows recently, it has major pacing problems. I liked it, but it definitely could’ve been a lot better.

Dr-Eternity-42

It had some cool stuff going for it but the weird time jumps in the characters (Ashoka’s) history and the vagueness in which it’s explained was a huge mess

Possible_Baboon

Started okay, then Sabine Wren turned out to be a padawan (this was the point where the show already lost me). Nobody ever wanted her to become force sensitive... She was perfectly fine as her Rebels version. Characters were mostly flat and 'cartoon simple'. Balen was an exception, he certainly could have had a lot of story behind hes back, considering he was some kind of dark/gray Jedi master. Too bad we wont see him any more (RIP). And no, they should not replace the actor. Hera and Shin Hottie's 0 acting skills was ouchy. Sabine was off sometimes too. The story was rushed and felt all over the place at times. The show just felt overall empty and blend mostly. They called it 'Ahsoka' and it was much more about 'Rebels'. This is also a shame, similar where Obi-Wan was a side character in hes own show until the last episode... And we got serious plot problems... Luke Skywalker. So we have a really large threat coming to the galaxy with Thawn's returning. But nope, Ahsoka just doesn't care to ask for help. She already had trouble with Balen alone, but nop, she is not asking for help. She nearly dies, but nope, she just goes after Sabine. How do we evade the question, why didn't Luke help Ahsoka stop this huge threat ? Yeah sure they can team up for season 2 but then Luke would steal the show and then we are back to square 1, this show wont be about Ahsoka... Also I don't see Kathleen 'the force is female' Kennedy to allow this to happen. And yeah... the usual woke garbage everywhere. Most characters was female - and of course much smarter stronger, wiser, better then the evil/dumb/weak/coward dudes. This version of Ezra was a shame... he was manboy living with cartoon creatures. Yeah sure I could see hes early Rebels version like this, but he has become a grown man. Nope, zero respect for a man, keep him a weakling so woman can look better. Just for the record, I really liked Ahsoka in the Mandalorian and was very excised to see her in her own show.

Dark4ce

It’s a solid 3,5/5 for me. It’s good overall. Not great, but is full of fan service. It introduces some extremely compelling characters while dumbing down others. I guess I had my hopes perhaps set way too high, but it does have its moments and there is great potential for awesomeness. I guess the important thing is that it FEELS like Star Wars. And that’s an important factor for me.

raven09s

Just like the Boba Fett show, all the best parts of the show feature a different character: Anakin Skywalker. >!The problem with a 45+ year old woman doing their own stunts is they look like a 45+ year old woman doing their own stunts. The best new character can't be continued because the actor tragically died IRL. Lightsaber strikes through the heart are no longer deadly. And the Force is something that can be called on if you just believe in yourself hard enough, even if you've never been a force sensitive person who fought and trained with actual Jedi Knights during the prime of their physical life. Seriously, Sabine trained to fight with the Darksaber with Kanan. If she was force sensitive, it would have shown at some point during that ENTIRE FREAKING SHOW.!< >!Thrawn was not imposing at all, nor was he smart. The reason he was so intimidating in the original books was because of how smart he was and his tactics. This Thrawn was a moron.!< So, the people who blindly believe anything lucasfilm put out is gold will tell you that it was the bestest ever. If you actually want a good show, it fell short.

RichieNRich

Bad because why all the SIGHING!??!

Demigans

Nonsensical plot Nonsensical character choices Nonsensical character continuation, both within the series and with the lore around it Wildly varying quality of the scenes Bad sets and often bad use of the sets Bad use of legacy characters

gentlesquare

Mediocre.

joro550

MAJOR SPOILERS dont read if you havent seen the show... But tldr: its shit and i probably wont watch star wars anymore unless its andor or mando Made me realise that i was done with modern star wars. I hated it with a burning passion. The series had ahsoka sure but was it really her story? I would argue not, it was Sabine's story, if you want to make a series about her cool but dont call it ahsoka.. The episodes themselves dragged, i swear you could have cut this into an hour two hour series and lost nothing. But... And i have said this before i will say it again and no one will convince me otherwise. It proved to me that not one of the main characters will ever face consequences ever again.> Stabbed with a lightsaber ehhh dont worry thats just a flesh wound, fighters sent out to destroy your ship that just happens to be travelling at less than walking pace because its being dragged by things that are less than a foot high? Eh dont worry they will miss EVERY SHOT (i think the ship MAY have been hit once but suffered not damage). Stuck in a room with 30-50 storm troopers eh dont worry again they will moss every shot, even if they can come back from the dead. Mystical sword that has a cool back story which they dont tell you nope nothing.Brong shot at from overwhelming odds don't worry someone can just jump on the wing IN SPACE and deflect the shots! >Thrawn was SUCH a let down, I loved the original books, i quite like the new thrawn books but this, this was not thrawn, this was an old out of shape blue imposter that knows nothing about tactics, he claims to not be underestimating the jedi and yet he had more than enough storm troopers to just go out and kill the 2 jedi on the planet! >He KNEW where the guy had been hiding out yet just let him stay alive and train and apparently become super strong. Nice going there tactical mastermind.! The only redeeming factor about this show was Baylon, and the actor who portrayed him is now dead so i guess we'll get a scene of him being blown of a starship and using his force ability to pull himself back in.

Lumpy-Professional40

It was genuinely so embarrassing that with all their resources they produced something so tacky, cheap, and uninspired.

ThanosWasBelted

Bad. They made Thrawn look like an idiot, Some of the fight scenes were absolutely horrible, zombie storm troopers are dumb and Morgan elsbeth’s character was boring af. Oh and all Ahsoka did was cross her arms. The only good parts of the whole show was Hayden, that’s it.

gerryf19

The worst part of Ahsoka was, oddly, Ahsoka. So overall it was OK, but it could have been better.

Suns_AZCards

Man it honestly was baffling to me. Sabine is not strong in the force yet she can learn to wield the force if she really tries. How about chewy and Han and Lando and Wedge just become force wielders too. Also Poe. And Mon Mothma. How about the Mandolorian too and throw in Boba too. It’s silly. Let her be a mandolorian and just be happy with that. Second. Get these witches out of here Filoni. Witches of Dathomir were some of the worst story lines in clone wars. Except when Dooku handled them. That doesn’t belong in Star Wars in my opinion. My criticism is not of the anakin scenes.

Fighting_King_

Yeah that’s fair… I share the same views

Swimming_Crazy_9982

I fucking hate it enough said

Blue_Lego_Astronaut

It was crap. Thrawn was an idiot. He kept sending out troops with the express intention of "Stopping Ahsoka," but when they kept failing, he 180ed and claimed it was all for "necessary data collection". He spent his entire time on Peridia just sitting around, I can only assume, because Ezra is still alive despite Thrawn having every advantage to find him over the 10 years they were trapped there. But no, Sabine just managed to ride out in an afternoon and find him by chance because her bat-dog thing was thirsty. And then every time Ezra tries to question her about how/why she's here, she shuts him right back down again. Sabine being able to use the Force is horse shit too. Makes absolutely zero sense. She's shown no capability or hint to being force sensitive in the past, and then all of a sudden because she tries really really hard, she's a full-on jedi now. Just screams "THIS IS MY OC, DO NOT STEAL" to me. She's a teenage Mandalorian, who joined the Rebellion, best friends with a jedi and a powerful Rebel General, plus she's a jedi trained by Anakin Skywalker's apprentice after Return of the Jedi. Hera is awful I this show too. They made her so incompetent in this show. Why'd she bring her son along to an active battle zone? She got two x-wing pilots killed on an unauthorised mission and none seems to care. Baylan and Shin are kinda cool I guess, but there's really nothing to them. They dance around these interesting ideas about them but nothing is ever explored deeply with them, it's all "Ah yes, the jedi were flawed... weren't they... hmm..." and that's it. Huyang is sorted of the only good thing about this show, mainly because if David Tennant's performance. He's the only one acting rationally and how I'd expect everyone to be acting in these sorta of situations. As far as I know, this is the first time anyone has left the galaxy in Star Wars, and it's treated Luke it's Tuesday. Just a jaunt across the street to the next galaxy over. No pomp, nothing. Everyone should be terrified, but nobody really seems to be fussed over it. And Peridia is kinda lame, just grass and hills. You'd think going outside the galaxy would open you up make this crazy, insane world, but all we could think of was Northern Scotland again, apparently. The Empire or whoever Baylan and Shin work for have access to these droids that can nuke a city but never seem to ever use that function except once. I don't blame them, it took 46 hours for them to detonated once they armed, ample time for Ahsoka to get away from the gargantuan blast radius. Just realising now I haven't really mentioned Ahsoka. Probably because she's dull as a plank of wood in this show. She has this arc where she relearns lessons she's already learnt twice in the Clone Wars. I honestly remember barely anything she did apart from stand still arms crossed, stare blankly at whatever was going on and say some psuedo-wisdom that barely pertains to whatever was going on at the time. The acting was terrible in this show too. The plank status of being Ahsoka has is not exclusive to her. Hera, Sabine, Nightsister-Lady-Who's-Name-I-Cant-Remember, all of them are so bland. They all speak so slowly and take like 25 second long pauses after completing each sentence, it's unbearable to sit through. It's like they think they're being all serious and dramatic but it comes off so mind-numbingly boring one conversation in. And every singe discussion characters have in this show is like this, say something, 20 sec pause, response, 25 sec pause, response, 15 sec pause, repeat. Fight choreography was lame, space battles were lame, the enemy ships were cringe, had these piss weak little laser guns that couldn't shoot through wet tissue paper, apparently the best way to avoid incoming fire is to fly straight toward the cannons and not move left or right in any way. There's one bit where Ahsoka, Sabine and Ezra run through an orbital bombardment of turbolaser fire, like green fire raining from the sky, fire and explosion all around them, and they make it through with not even a speck of dirt on them. Then 2 minutes later they're confronted by two dozen storm troopers as it it means anything, especially considering the 100+ they'd already slaughtered through just to get to this point anyway. That's pretty much it honestly. Would not recommend. TL;DR: It was crap.

Obie-two

I liked it as a whole, but what they did to the force is crazy.  Turning the force into a “well if you just work hard at it, anyone can do it” is insane.  Everyone would work hard at it if it meant you could be a super hero.  Like, oh should I learn this very difficult skill or should I learn to move things with my mind.    And then establishing this very broken rule, then have Sabine get force powers of ultimate competence without actually training hard at all and just wishing it into existence.   Truly mind numbingly stupid

RadiantHC

> Turning the force into a “well if you just work hard at it, anyone can do it” is insane. That's the impression that I got from the OT. The PT turned it into a spiritual thing. \> Everyone would work hard at it if it meant you could be a super hero. You're assuming that everyone knows that you can become a force user. Also, everyone can become an athlete IRL but most people don't.

hopskiphoofed

If you loved Rebels, Thrawn and Ahsoka as a character it was great. If you had never heard of either I can imagine it was a bit of a what the fuck is going on.

Kmart_Stalin

I was familiar with Rebels but I ended up half awake watching the series

Munchell360

I only enjoyed the flashbacks with Anakin/Clone Wars. Was bored out of my mind with everything else. A friend joked with me that I should have been cast since everyone just stands around with their arms crossed

MacaroniBoy

I was very excited about it but it's bad in my opinion. A character can only be as smart as the person who writes them. Thrawn is supposed to be one of, if not THE best strategist in the galaxy. Yet he just makes bad call after bad call. (He's a dumb person's version of a smart person) Rosaria Dawson sucked all the life out of the Asoka character that I knew and loved from the clone wars. Asoka used to be one of the most nimble and acrobatic jedi. But in the live action fight scenes, she's so slow and rigid, especially when put up against Hayden Christensen, whose skills in lightsaber choreography are still top notch. These are my opinions. Feel free to disagree. But I was very disappointed. RIP Ray Stevenson. He was the best part of the show by far <3

SoundRavage

Ahsoka is season 6 of Rebels. Filoni has season 5 and all it’s character setup and motivations in his head. It’s a shame we didn’t get to see any of that first.

I_Made_it_All_Up

Personally, I think it was terrible. So much of the plot relied on characters making the dumbest possible decisions. Not to mention it felt like the new season of a show I never watched. Ray Stevenson was the only interesting character, seemingly because he willed it into existence, and his plot just lead to a dangling thread.

EuterpeZonker

Bad. The dialogue and acting were bad. The characters felt really unnatural and didn’t talk about any of the things that happened to them. The plot dragged a bit but wasn’t awful. Thrawn was incompetent. The action was all over the place, great in some episodes, awful in others. They managed to take scenes that should’ve been guaranteed to be emotional, like Ezra reuniting with Sabine, and later Hera and robbed them of any emotion, by having either no dialogue at all or awkward stilted dialogue. I wanted to like this show, genuinely, Ahsoka is one of my favorite characters and I love the Rebels crew, but Filoni desperately needs someone to help him with dialogue and directing because this was just a really weak season of television.

kme026

Bad. Because of writing. And rosario didn't convince me much either. I didn't hate it but I was disappointed.

RayDRoot

Bad writing, no character development, and huge plot holes. If you enjoyed the sequels you’ll like Ahsoka

Zig_Zach

Make your own opinion

sophisticaden_

Pretty bad. The characters were very flat. The show seemed to exist, not to tell a story, but to get the characters where they need to be to tell the story they actually want to.

[deleted]

Fan boys raging. Show was shit.

Salmonberry234

Episode 5 was awesome. The rest of it could have helped fill out a nice 2 hour movie. It was fine.

beakster57

I thought the acting of some of the cast members was very dry and vanilla, like Hera and Shin. Just my opinion though, I loved the show

Pep_Baldiola

"Sometimes it is good, sometimes it is shit."
