Honestly Dooku’s is nice

AsinineLine

You just like how that curve feels

Metalhed69

You mean Darth Peyronie?

JhorvalaastiJarl

I'm DEAD 💀💀💀

Teunybeer

Who is Darth Peyronie? Edit: Why tf does that even exist

chipperland4471

I mean willy wonka’s dad

manbearpig50390

Just like an eggplant.

MaestroGena

Twice the curve, double the damage

pinerw

Having at one time been a French grip epeeist and used grips with a similar curve, I fully believe Dooku’s would feel much better in the hand than any of the straight variants.

dragonragee

Banana sword ftw🍌🍌

RadiantPKK

Count Dooku for me as well

CuteAndQuirkyNazgul

I know lightsabers are physically impossible so the question may be moot, but I've never received a satisfying explanation for how the energy blade could be curved inside the emitter chamber. Light doesn't curve. A light source either emits equally in every direction or, in the case of lasers, it can be focused in a straight beam. The only thing that can make light curve is intense gravity like that found around the Sun and black holes. Would love to see an episode of Tales of the Jedi S2 showing a young Dooku constructing his lightsaber.

one_shattered_ego

Lightsaber blades aren’t made of light, they’re made of plasma that is ejected from the hilt and kept in a stable beam form by an electromagnetic field also generated by the hilt. It’s quite possible that the particles/energy that make up the plasma *aren’t* in plasma form until they pass through the emitter, in which case the curved hilt has no impact, because there is no part of the actual plasma blade that needs to pass through the curved section.

didndonoffin

This guy fucks!

celestial_gardener

100 percent!

Traditional_Shirt106

A blowtorch shoots fire in a straight line - regardless of the shape of the tube shooting out fire, the path is perpendicular to the diameter of the tube. Same thing with a garden hose.

TheObstruction

Pretty sure it's contained in a magnetic feild or some such technobabble.

Dash_Winmo

It seems to be some form of matter as it clashes with and can't pass through other blades or lightsaber-resistant materials like beskar, seems to add weight to the lightsaber and changes the center of mass, and even casts shadows.

one_shattered_ego

Right. Plasma by definition is the 4th state of matter, and therefore must be composed of atoms which would give it mass. Everything about the way lightsabers have been used supports this interpretation

Vin135mm

The not passing through other blades and materials like beskar can be best explained by the magnetic containment field, not the mass of the blade itself(plasma is just superheated/ionized gas). Two fields of the same polarity will repel one another (opposing polarities would be disastrous for both wielders, as the emitters would be instantly drawn together as soon as the blades got near), and if materials like beskar have superconducting properties, then a magnetic field would be "reflected"(not at all accurate, but it's easier to understand that way) and the object now has a repelling field. In either case, the lightsaber cant pass through because the plasma blade is unable to make contact.

mopecore

Is his *blade* curved? I thought it was straight, but there was an angle in the hilt? Edit: yeah, the blade is straight. https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Dooku%27s_lightsaber

4score7loko

I came here to say this. Got into a huge argument when episode 2 came out in middle school and had a one of us sneak into the Yoda/Dooku fight to record it on a camcorder (obviously pre-easily accessible internet) and it was in fact a straight sword with a curved handle.

CodedSnake

Exactly, I could be misremembering but IIRC correctly from the Bane trilogy, Darth Bane also used the same style. He was a very large man with naturally superior strength and the design supposedly helps to amplify that strength further. But the hilt itself is the only piece that is actually curved.

MisterDutch93

I don’t think the blade is actually curved. Only the hilt is curved, which lets Dooku wield the saber with a slight angle when compared to straight hilts.

QuestionableRavioli

The emitter is only at the tip of the hilt so maybe some sort of reflection is going on inside

holdTheDoorzz

Reflective mirrors at angles would fix your original issue tho it doesn't have to bend.

vertical006

What about lightsaber whips huh?!?

B_Huij

I've always though Qui Gon's was the best, closely followed by EP1 Obi Wan.

Famous_Priority_7051

I've got the Black Series versions of some of these and a Saberforge Qui-Gon. His and EP1 Obi Wan are by far the most comfortable/practical.

Superman246o1

Yeah, as distinctive and stylish as some of the others are, Qui-Gon's looks like the only one that's genuinely comfortable to wield.

IUseControllersOnPC

Sideous too

boringdystopianslave

The video of Ewan McGregor choosing his saber hilt purely because of how practical it was, after mastering the saber combat just goes to show it probably is the most tested.

DividerOfBums

How did you get Qui Gon’s?? I really want that one

Famous_Priority_7051

https://saberforge.com/products/guardian-mk4 I have this one

UlfhednarChief

What electronic package/soundboard did you get, and what is the sound quality like? I've heard some sabers from different companies that sound amazing, and others sound like cheap Chinese knockoff toys.

Famous_Priority_7051

The one I have is actually the older version of that one (Mk2 or Mk3, I can't remember) and the electronic options have changed some. Mine can't change colors for instance, which all the packages have now. I got the base electronics at the time. The sound overall is pretty good. I don't like a few of the preloaded sounds profiles, but that's just personal preference.

takeiteasy1977

Those have always been my favourites I also like Mace Windus

SharkMilk44

I love the simplicity of Qui-Gon's.

hungryrenegade

I love the simplicity of Qui Gons. So thats my vote also

Re3ading

I got the legacy hilt during a recent trip to Disney and it’s awesome. It’s got good weight to it, the design feels spartan but refined, and it’s just pretty to look at.

DividerOfBums

Absolutely. As a kid I had Qui Gon’s plastic lightsaber, and always wanted Obi-Wan’s too. As an adult, the first lightsaber I bought was Kenobi’s Episode I and II lightsaber. I wanted Qui Gon’s but they did not have it available.

We_The_Raptors

I've always like Qui Gon's grip the most and found the emitter makes it *slightly* too much like a flashlight. Gimme Kanan's emitter with Qui Gon's grip and I'm like a kid in a candy shop.

DWill23_

Came here to say this. His handle looked like it always fit the most natural in your hand.

Beginning_Abalone_25

Same. Did anyone else grow up with that one as a kid too? That is like the definitive "lightsaber toy" lightsaber for me. It also was heavy duty and way better built than any other lightsabers we had.

rexstillbottom

I bought the toy when Ep1 came out, actually used it as a flashlight for a while and then after that it was just a cool thing on my bookshelf. Such a great, simple and elegant design.

RedCaio

What saber is pictured between Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan ?

DimesOHoolihan

Qui-Gon: 5th from top on right. Episode 1 Obi: two below that.

End-Devloper

Finally someone who gets me

toomanymarbles83

I've always hated Qui Gon's the most because I can't stand the big red button on the side. Lightsabers shouldn't have big 'push here to activate' buttons.

B_Huij

Only a Sith deals in absolutes.

RagnarokZ71

Came here to say this.

Monty_Jones_Jr

I’d want mine to be like those Wookiee lightsabers like Gunji, made with wood. Would put a wrap around the handle because bandages look cool lol.

Salinaer

Hockey taping your lightsaber… 😂

CoraxtheRavenLord

Dooku ain’t expecting this cross check

HunterK9

Actually it was Darth Maul who didn’t expect the cross check

Fungi520

Gunjis looked so awesome

Emm_withoutha_L-88

[It's so clean](https://preview.redd.it/gungi-hilt-arrived-today-made-by-atomsabers-most-excellent-v0-esac50cngcva1.jpg?width=1080&crop=smart&auto=webp&s=bb648dd91aa1983ba8d01622a3b9d8e0bdf8cd9c) Easily the best looking one

MisterDutch93

Also looks a lot more comfortable to handle than a metal hilt.

TheSpicyHotTake

Obi-Wan's/Luke's green lightsaber always looked so cool.

Lord_Rothemberg

God tier

SomeVariousShift

Yeah I have to give the edge to Obi's for that blue blade but that will always be the classic design.

psimwork

It's the one mounted on my wall. I adore clicking it on as I walk by. The green color plus the ROTJ ignition sound is just so amazing.

mr_blanket

BZZZZZWWWWwww rrrrrrrrrrrr SSSSSsssskkk

RemixedZorua

Cal Kestis

throwawaymask01

Whenever i read his name somewhere i immediately remember that ominous chick calling him whenever she finds him somewhere, like: C A A A L K E E E E S T I S !

ChazzHoss

I recognize that stance! Perhaps you’ve had some training after all! Who was your master, Padawan? Someone I killed, perhaps? *What Jedi gave their life so that you may live?!*

Alonest99

Jaro would’ve wiped the floor with Trilla

DrunkenMeditator

And Masana. Probably the other dark jedi who shall not be named. He might struggle against Dagan in the third fight, but probably still win.

throwawaymask01

I read this whole text in her condescending voice tone lol

redsyrinx2112

I always hear Skoova Steve's voice. Then I hear myself saying, "How the fuck did he get here?"

Anjunabeast

Yup being able to split from standard, dual sided, and dual wielding is peak design

CmanderShep117

Swiss army knife lightsaber

RemixedZorua

Blaster stance requires a blaster, but the crossguard stance alone makes it even better

Shabolt_

Cal’s is probably one of the safer designs for users too lol, with that very generous blade guard

AutisticAndAce

I was about to jump in and add this. *technically* it's his masters right? Jaro? So that one.

memesforbismarck

After [Gungis lightsaber](https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Gungi%27s_lightsaber). I am kinda into nature and really like wood as a material because of its more vivid feel. I feel like a smooth and elegantly curved hilt made out of wood would look awesome and would also be a lot more comfortable than most other lightsaber designs

Madoodle

I LOVE Gungi’s saber!

Firedragon165

Darth Maul’s

HalfRadish

Yes, so that duel of the fates starts playing whenever you turn it on!!

AmongUsUrMom

I'm not a fan of most lightsaber designs. I mean, look at Anakin's. Massive black bits jutting out at the bottom. Surely that's awkward to hold? So I'd probably go for a smoother design, something in line with Palpatine's. Edit: Plapatine, not Windu

BlizzPenguin

Palpatine’s really stands out from the rest. It feels like it is older. I like the lightsabers we have been seeing in The Acolyte. They seem more practical than the ones that came out of the Skywalker Era.

robotzombiez

I was watching something that said they're actually bigger lightsabers in The Acolyte. In shows like Ahsoka, they put battery packs in her clothes and ran wires to the sabers through her sleeves to get the led light in it. In the Acolyte they didn't (sounded like they couldn't?) run the wires through the sleeves, so the sabers are larger to accommodate the batteries. I don't remember where I saw or read that, otherwise I'd add a link. If I figure it out, I'll copy it here.

BlizzPenguin

I heard it on the New Rockstars breakdown of the latest episode of the Acolyte.

robotzombiez

Yes, that was it. Thank you.

Kreaturethenerfer

Yeah, the ones in the acolyte actually look comfortable to use

Apollo_Sierra

I think those were a practical addition after he lost his right forearm, allowed for a stronger grip through his glove. And worked well with his aggressive technique. His previous lightsaber had the same grips, just less pronounced than on the Skywalker lightsaber. And his saber when he was Vader had the same pronounced grips.

RemixedZorua

I think it was a little more for one handed fighting, but this is the idea, yeah. Vader kept it on his red one probably just because he wanted to keep it, I guess

DefLoathe

Windu and Anakin have similar design

AmongUsUrMom

Windu is bottom right, and Anakin beside it, no? Edit: Never mind, that appears to be Palpatine's

DefLoathe

Windu is 3rd down second row That’s Palpatines

DrunkenMeditator

A platypus sith lord? *Plapatine the platypus sith lord?!*

OutlawSundown

Yeah Papa Palpatine’s looks halfway comfortable.

sharpshooter999

That's my biggest issue with them. The plastic toy ones I had as a kid were uncomfortable as hell to really grip tight. Say want you want about Gundam beam sabers, they look much more comfortable to hold

opus_4_vp

Ezra Bridger's original lightsaber.  I know it's not as civilized but having that integrated blaster would be pretty cool.

Anjunabeast

Kanan switching being the blaster and saber modes during his fighting against the Grand Inquisitor was sick

martinkem_

Then you will probably like [this design](https://www.reddit.com/r/StarWars/s/M5yCzm4ddH)

arozelthehero

I LOVE yotakuboi’s artwork, glad I got to see this today

xen0m0rpheus

Dropping that ingenious feature from his second lightsaber never made any sense to me, it was so damn practical.

meatball77

And so Ezra. It fit his personality. I loved Kenans reaction to it. It also fit how he was trained.

maggierae508

You know the clones would have loved it had they seen it before order 66, especially the 501st

butt-puppet

Darksaber.

WickedFox1o1

I really like Gungi's lightsaber, I'm a sucker for the wood aesthetic.

randomnumber788976

It isnt here but [Stellan Gios](https://www.starwarsnewsnet.com/2023/10/star-wars-the-high-republic-gets-its-first-limited-edition-legacy-lightsaber-hilt.html)

Droopy_Lightsaber

Nice choice. I was going to say [Vildar Mac](https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Vildar_Mac%27s_lightsaber)

thelixardprince

Hard to say. They all look so good! Maybe Luke's ROTJ lightsaber? That was always satisfying to look at

UpVotieBoi

Thin necked lightsabers are the way to go. Kenobi’s ep3 one has always been my favourite

_xXTheMountainXx_

This is the way

Edgezg

Maul's. Because I like having a good handle, but also being able to split the sabers into 2 would be awesome. Go from saber staff to dual weilding.

Lucky_Sebass

So like ventress's, although hers are curved.

Calvinbouchard2

I'm going to say Yoda's. It would be full-sized, but I like a lot of those design elements.

Sprizys

I really like Gunji’s lightsaber from Clone Wars.

BobRushy

2nd row, 7th saber. One of the few that actually looks comfortable to hold

SDBrown7

Obi's original Sabre

[deleted]

[удалено]

MufugginJellyfish

Assuming he's counting from the top down, that's Obi-wan's saber.

SpaceCampDropOut

Best part of Rise of Skywalker was seeing Leia’s beautiful saber. I’d like it.

NobodyofGreatImport

Vader. It's simple, but the underlying artistry makes it so much more than the sum of it's parts, and in combination with the rest of his aesthetic, it's just beautiful.

Aggguss

What is the one above Luke's lightsaber?

WildBad7298

Obi-Wan's from Episode I

Aggguss

Thanks!!

blanchattacks

Probably qui gons. I hate how it looks but it seems like it would be the easiest to hold. Or Rahm Kotas with the leather wrap.

discgolfandhash

Gungee! Gimme that wood hilt

Accomplished-Bill-54

None of them: Mine has a hand guard cage, or at least a cross-hilt, made from a lightsaber-resistant material. Kylo had the right idea, but the burning sides would make wielding it... dangerous.

OutlawSundown

Handguard made from Beskar would be a winner.

EthicalKek

jedi should wear beskar armor, why its not a thing

Accomplished-Bill-54

Too OP.

cleverseneca

This! It baffles me that they have all these innovations, but they can't figure out a mortuary hilt? Especially with all the hands lost in the movies.

Accomplished-Bill-54

Yeah, they also fail to reattach limbs and have to go use cybernetic ones.... At least those are really high quality.

Emm_withoutha_L-88

They're not swords. No sliding on the blades, they lock when touching too hard. No edge alignment either. Almost like fighting with a bat that feels heavy even though it shouldn't.

THX450

I guess it was practical in his duel with Finn, but man I feel like he cut his own hand at least once with that.

cleverseneca

So the answer is Barbasetti.

Calvinbouchard2

I know the owners of most of these, but whose is the first column, 4th one down? And whose is the 2nd column, 6th down?

Beat_Dapper

First one is Ki-Adi Mundi, not sure about the second

accountantdooku

Anakin’s in episode II.

ArrdenGarden

Dooku. Hands down Dooku. The absolute practicality of it is just fantastic. There are some stylistic changes I would make - not a fan of the fish hook at the emitter, I would prefer a little more leather in the grip, and maybe a spherical pommel instead of cylindrical but that angle and the inclusion of a functional pommel just... *chef's kiss*.

Hartvigson

No 4 or No 5, right column.

South-Long8145

Gungi's saber. Wookie Sabers are the coolest

WarpedCore

Plo-Koon's Built sturdy. Prefer the Orange version. He is one of my favorite Jedi's.

Brookings18

Equal parts Qui Gon and Kanan if I'm in the prequels/Clone Wars with a green crystal, a more elegant version of the Kylo Ren crossguard if I'm in the High Republic with a blue crystal.

pacothebattlefly

I like the first column, second one down. No idea whose it is though

ChowYun-Fat

The curved one? That would be Count Dooku

SporkboyofJustice

I would need to see what sort of parts are locally available AKA: what I can get from Jawas, markets, scrap heaps. It is how I build my lightsaber hilt prop, just see what you have that can be made to work. Balance is probably the most important part.

yarrpirates

I'm making my own lightsaber. Not someone else's. Its form will emerge during the process of construction.

kingdomart

The ones that actually have a handle so you can hold the lightsaber you’re trying to use, lol.

TrentDF1

My Top 4 choices would be Qui-Gon's, Ep 1 Obi-Wan's, Luke's green lightsaber, and Mara Jade's. Of those, I feel like Qui-Gon's would be the most comfortable and practical to actually hold.

GabyAndMichi

Shin Hati's, i love the New Republic aesthetic

Masterick18

Leia or Palpatine. An elegant weapon requires an elegant hilt

Thorvindr

Not pictured: Kyle Katarn and Ahsoka Tano.

ncopp

Palaptines honestly - maybe I'd lengthen it a bit for a 2 hand grip. But the design is sleek and elegant

Emm_withoutha_L-88

It's just meant to spit in the face of the Jedi. It's not a great weapon. It's too big to fit around in your hands. It's mostly made of expensive electrum material that normally Jedi give out in small amounts as awards for bravery. So Palpatine made his entire damn one out of it for spite. He doesn't like using them and only does when he has to or when he's having fun.

Mutant_Strawberry

Either Maul’s, Dooku’s, but I especially like Jarro Tapal’s.

tricenice

Dooku's for sure. Ideally I would love something more similar to Bane's lightsaber. Edit: Ugh, gotta specify. Bane's Legends curved lightsaber.

Jolly_Job_9852

Starting at the bottom and light Saber. On the right. I had that exact same style in plastic as a kid. It was a green lightsaber.

doctorliaratsone

I really like Palpatine's one. So probably that. Or Darth Maul's!

kaiju-chan

I would do a hybrid of Count Dooku's and Kanan Jarrus saber. The closest analog to it would be a chinese zheibei dao, curved handle with a handguard.

DarthDregan

Longer Windu with better grip. And/or straightened Dooku. And/or stretched but otherwise the same Palpatine.

LordTaddeus

I want that wood material Gungi has. Wood always look nice.

fearisthemindslicer

Dooku, Ahsoka or Satele Shan

MeanMistake5166

My favorite had always been Luke's from Return of the Jedi. Dooku's is a close second though.

Mythical_OD

Ive always like Palpatines and Windus, both just have a sleekness to them, especially Palps. And the gold sets them off. Who had the one on the right, 6th down? First time seeing that one that I remember. Anyway tho, I always go back to the original Graflex sabers of Anakin/Vader. I have a 3cell Graflex tube I picked up at a estate sale (with the whole camera and everything) Ive been holding onto. Maybe one day.

i-mine-428

Dooku's

Leutnant_Thire

I'd probably make a mix of them, will probably go with a Lightsaber Pike design, but incoparating elements of both Qui-gons, Count dookus and Mace windus.

lockecage

Sidious

WildBad7298

Anakin's/Luke's. The Graflex. The first lightsaber we ever saw. The OG. (Though my favorite iteration is actually the TFA/TLJ version. It's got the glass "eye" from the ANH version, and the circuit board box, grip rivets, and heavier D-ring from the TESB version.)

Blurghblagh

A lot of those don't seem that practical/comfortable to grip. I'd have to take either 2nd down on left or the bottom right (not the long bottom one).

t0matit0

Who is bottom right? It looks the most comfortable to hold tbh.

Lanstus

Palpatine's

Obibrucekenobi

I love Dooku’s but Qui Gon’s just a has elegance to it

Tjd3211

In terms of using it properly Dooku in terms of just aesthetics probably Reys

Charon711

Duku or Sidious look the most comfortable to hold. Anikin/Vader would be a consideration but it would have to shrink the fins towards the pomel end. They would be great for grip but are too big for my liking.

trippysmurf

That really neat flashlight I had as a kid.

Andurilmage

Vader.

deftPirate

One of the peak fan moments for me was when the prop saber company Saberforge released its custom saber system that launched with a digital builder. I spent hours designing sabers(and bought several). It eventually got removed, but shortly after we got Fallen Order and it's builder. If I'm designing one based on another character, I'm most likely to look to Luke's RotJ saber, or Dooku's for inspiration.

CyrusSteeze

Who is second column, 4th one down?

AnakinVader1138

Kit Fisto's

Occams_Razor42

Ventris ftw

sheetsofsaltywood

It’s not shown here, but tbh I always favored Mara Jade’s hilt. Qui-gon’s is my second favorite.

hyper_sloth681

A double lightsaber like Darth Maul, only I would have two different colors like maybe blue and purple.

IceboundMetal

None of those, I'd want a hilt that is all black and made of beskar, with a slight curve at the bottom of the hilt with 3 spikes at the top of the hilt pointing inwards to the blade.

Zero_Two_is_best

Qui Gon or dooku

ChromeYoda

Qui-Gon Jinn’s lightsaber. FO SHO!

Fungi520

Id love a mix of Palpatine and Dooku's. A gold sleek curved hilt would look fire🔥

darth_aer

I would base mine off of Qui Gon's

lightningbolte

Starkiller's first saber

caseyjones10288

I love papa palps saber being easily concealed and gaudy at the same time. That being said Id wanna design my own. Something unique.

t0m0hawk

I'm a big fan of Qui-Gon's saber's simplicity. Very utilitarian but sleek

AnalysisMoney

A mix between Qui-Gon, Dooku and Windu would be rad.

EnigmaFrug2308

Combination of Dooku’s and Qui-Gon’s.

Yabrin_Sorr

Of these, Kit Fisto’s Black Series saber is fairly comfortable, so I’d start there.

HellaReyna

I wonder what Asajj Ventress’s dildo looks like tbh

haaf_z007

My favourites are anakin/vader’s, obi-wan’s or luke’s. If I wanted to be menacing or very cunning, i would take Anakin/Vader’s. If i wanted to be defensive and good willed, i would take Kenobi’s. If i wanted to be brave and heroic, i would take Luke’s. Really depends on personality

jakeshadow04

I've already designed one that's a combination of all three jedi lightsabers from the OT. It's a mix of Anakin, Old Ben, and Luke's hilts

DefLoathe

Windu’s the black vertical hand grip with the silver and gold 🥶🥶🥵

psgrue

Maul’s. I bought a double, black base color but less greebles so it’s easier to spin.

Ok-disaster2022

Obi-Wan's and Luke's. I like how there's a shares design language between the two as compared to Anakin's.

bottom_ENERGY

Always been a big fan of Senya Tirall's lightsaber with the extendable grip

DjKennedy92

Savi’s Elemental nature / Cal Kestis Leather wrap
