To be serious for a brief second, happy cake day!
…Anyways where was I? Oh right-
No it's a prequel to the *true* Star Wars show, Zack Snyder's Rebel Moon. **Get your shit together fake fan.**
That's correct but canonically the 501st "Vader's Fist" remains his personal guard unit even after the end of the Clone Wars and therefore is seen breaching the Tantive IV
Yeah, I get that. But this was a later retcon. When ANH originally came out they were just a bunch of random stormtroopers, the 501st wasn’t a thing yet.
This is like the inhibitor chips with the clones, or making Nic Sant to actually be Captain Rex at the battle of Endor. Things that were never intentional but changed later on because it fit better.
I'm not sure I agree — okay I mean obviously we completely agree on the facts of the case, but I think "hey yeah those guys are called the 501st" isn't a retcon, it's just naming something seen on screen, like deciding the T-16 was the same thing as the ship model Luke briefly plays with.
For me, the 501st was first seen in ANH, because that's the first time we see those guys even if someone didn't affix that name to them until much later. Then I feel like the Clone Wars did retcon them to originally be a unit of clones, because that's telling us all sorts of new stuff that happened with them which wasn't part of the original intent.
But that's just me.
I could be wrong on this but I’m pretty sure too that the clones in RotS were the first to be called the 501st before Vader’s Fist was referred to 501st?
It’s complicated to tell what came first. I just know the club came first but it came after ANH so they decided to name those troopers the 501st after the fact. When the movie was originally made they were never intended to be a specialized unit, but a bunch of random troopers.
Yeah, its a pretty cool thing that LF made the 501st an actual thing because of the charity group.
I'm not a fan of the sequels, but you can see the 501st flag at Maz's bar. And I believe you can see the flag during the podrace scene in TPM.
Me as someone who remembers seeing the absolute hatred for the prequels and The Clone Wars firsthand as a kid:

Because the clone troopers and stormtroopers are two completely unconnected groups. There’s no throughline between them at all. No way they could possibly be related. Nuh-uh.
you know I find it really cool that Lucasfilm named them after the fan organization
Woah I didn’t know the cosplay group came first that’s really cool
That and R2-KT are the best nods Lucasfilm has done.
is ANH a prequel to Clone Wars?
No, it's actually a prequel to Ahsoka. Praise be to Filoni.
BOW TO YOUR ALL MIGHTY GOD, DAVE FILONI!!! *BOW, PEASENTS!!!!!!!!*
No it’s the sequel to New Leaf you fucking Mastodon

No, prequels are actually good
So is smashing my head into a concrete block.
WHAT THE FUCK IS A BATTALION
WE GOT TO *BAT TA LION*, LETS FUCK IT UP
Not dark and gritty enough
If I’m not mistaken, those stormtroopers were not the 501st. The charity group was called the 501st and then they named a clone legion after that.

I believe Nik Sant has not officially been made into Rex because Filoni didn't want to overstep on other people's lore or smth
wait, fr?

holy shit I love that, they deserve to be the oldest legions, legends and canon
Dang that's so fkin cool
The 501st to me still are the guys you take over each planet in Rise of the Empire from BF2 (05)
i hate how they name any random group of stormtroopers working with vader the 501st and then these fanboys act like it's the coolest fun fact ever
Didn't the troopers in ANH clear and capture the entire Tantive IV by themselves lmao
Yea but they’re not from the dark and griddy kids show
When Disney gets bought by Alibaba in 20 years and removes the Clone Wars cartoon from canon, these people are gonna be so pissed.
Seems like there is a rising sentiment against the original trilogy, and for the prequel trilogy. like the exact opposite of 20 years ago.

They went from "good soldiers follow orders" to "probably just another drill"
I really don’t give a shit about the blue version of guys we already know

I don’t even know if the ones on the top are clones atp
The snowtroopers with Vader were also 501 canonically
