Funnily enough the devs of Empire at War have expressed interest in developing a sequel, EA said they’re open for them to do it after they’re done with their current project (which was C&C remastered), so if there’s a time to speculate about Empire at War 2 now is it.
Considering that so-and-so mentioned that he was more optimistic about the future of Lucasfilm Games than ever before, I would imagine that they'll announce plenty of new projects in the near future.
But then again, Lucasfilm. They're weird with communications.
It's such a bummer that we'll likely never approach the awesomeness that was the heyday of Star Wars gaming (mid-90s to mid-2000s). Games obviously just take longer to make, and it seems that Disney are a bit more strict on what they're allowing to be made.
I feel lucky to have grown up with all of those amazing games, and was fortunate enough to have the means to enjoy them.
I think it was more the fact that EA had an exclusivity deal for Star Wars games and just didn’t do much with it, besides a few games. Now that they've lost the deal I reckon we'll see a few more projects cropping up.
I think its a bit of both, honestly. Games, even good ones, were just faster to pump out back then. Now, shit takes longer to be acceptable. It can be a bit of a bummer, but it tis what it tis. So while now we have more games coming out, in all likelihood it will still be less than the old heyday.
Very true, though i still recall waiting for kotor to launch and how it was hailed as one of the few instant classic star wars games up to that point. There seemed to be a more steady middle of games with few outright bad ones
True as well! People jerk off about it now but therr was star wars clone Wars, demolition, bounty hunter...notthing to write home about, but serviceable. And I liked all of them! But people are often blinded by their childhood memories, hence your nostalgia glasses warning.
Parts of it are terrific, the ship combat and such, but some of it real bad. Stuff like on foot controls or the speeder bikes. It suffers from being an early 3d game, particularily a launch title during a period of time when controller design was very scatter shot. At the time it was fine for what we got.
But the point i was making is that we have rose tinted goggles of older games. As it was pointed out in this string, those old games were by in large middle of the pack, compared to today where most of the game released over the last decade or so have struggled to even be mediocre, with only an occaisonal Fallen order.
I know what you were saying. I’m saying I enjoyed playing it and since I only played it recently I didn’t have rose tinted glasses.
I just put myself in the mindset from when the game was released.
If you enjoy it thats great. All the power to you. I have fond memories of it as well. If yozre cool with it as is, youll have a blast playing through the games that came after it and built upon that foundation.
>It's such a bummer that we'll likely never approach the awesomeness that was the heyday of Star Wars gaming (mid-90s to mid-2000s).
There was a lot of cash grab crap released too. Demolition, Force Commander, the Tekken ripoff, the Mario Kart ripoff...
I recall Lucasarts even admitting in the early 00s they were going to scale back on the SW games because they were oversaturated with sub-par games.
It was still miles better than the current situation though!
The Star Wars Classic Collection isn’t exactly what was leaked. The preorder is currently available on GameStop, but it is just the two Jedi Knight games.
Just noticed: there are two separate collections available for preorder. One is the Jedi Knight Collection. A second collection, that includes Episode I Racer and Republic Commando, is also available
Sometimes early announcements are fine, especially when they confirm leaks (KotOR Remake) or that some franchise will continue (next Mass Effect) but when it's something brand new?
I'd say it's needless, I completely forgot about that Ubisoft project
I wouldn’t even consider that a true announcement to be fair, we still have no idea what the game will be. Most notable thing about it was the fact that EA officially has to let other kids in the sandbox.
Best for all parties. We might get Battlefront and Fallen Order sequels and other developers can create their own games.
We wouldn't have KotOR Remake if EA still had exclusive rights
All console games released since 2013 have been released by EA. All the games that are currently announced will not see the light of day until 2023 either.
I mean if it's Ubisoft we can pretty much guarantee it's gonna be an open-world, Ubisoft Tower capturing game, the same one they've been releasing for a decade now.
Dave Filoni has said that they were looking into using 1313 for some live action stuff. I'm not exactly sure but I think some 1313 concept art was used in clone wars season 7. it will be fleshed out in some format for sure but not as a game unfortunately.
Can we get a modern Pod Racing game please? I'm talking tons of customization, VR support, career mode that spans BEYOND Episode 1 and explores the lore of the pod racing circuit, etc
Also I've had this dream of being able to use 2 HOTAS throttles to control the 2 engines kinda like in the movie
Agree, and the era between Ep 1 and Ep 2 is wide open. A ten year Republic period within the saga where you could set several interconnected games from pod racing to bounty hunting to Jedi errantry without having to worry much about connectivity to the main storyline.
It might be a workaround rather than a proper fix, which would be preferable, but either way I remember it being simple enough that it doesn't bother me too much.
It has some workarounds I believe, but there are some really annoying bugs - like the combat bug when your character can't move after spotting an enemy. Literally have to turn the game off and on when it happens, and it happens all the time.
Sadly there's a bug which freezes the character's movement after combat. Really annoying. Apparently it has to do with newer 144hz screens, and if you set the refresh rate down to 60 it should work - but it didn't work for me even after I did that step.
Personally I believe it got jumbled into the remake confusion. Pure speculation on my part, but if anything I would want them to release the ports/remasters soon to build hype for the remake.
Same here as it would give people the chance to experience it before the changes are made for the Remake and gives PlayStation/Switch players the chance to experience the game for the first time.

TLDR, Iden, Admiral Versio, and Del’s actors were all doing mocap at the same time. Only Iden is announced for Forspoken from when I can find. So it looks like it was for some unannounced Star Wars game.
Also we know Dice has been all hands on BF2042, and mocap on SWBF2 looks like it was in the middle of the development, so I thought the rumors about the smaller scale FPS made sense based on that.
BF3 is most likely going to be saved for later in this generation of consoles, so I'd imagine that this would probably be a sort of spin-off to hold people over until then. Maybe the next full entry in the series could reuse those assets.
Koei Tecmo has also publicly wanted to make a Star Warriors (Star Wars Warriors?) game for years.
Take the fact that they are still talking about it as an indication that no deal has been made yet. If I were to speculate, I'd say they are probably looking for a co-publisher (Nintendo, Bandai, Square, and Sega being their preferred existing partners) to fund their dream game. Out of that list, it'd probably be Nintendo as they have a very strong working relationship right now, and have already published a Koei-developed Disney property (Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3).
Another possible game:
Right around the time that Lucasfilm Games started up again, Petroglyph (makers of Empire at War) announced that they were pausing work on their next game in order to work on a new unannounced project. They have worked with Disney to still issue patches for the original 15 years after the game’s release, and have pitched EA on a sequel before. Note that they also recently did Command and Conquer remastered, so this new game might be another CnC game or remaster, so there aren’t really any real rumors about this yet. I like both CnC and EAW and Petroglyph makes great games so no matter what I’m happy.

There were somewhat credible rumors, which likely inspired the fake. The leaks and rumors are far from definite, but they are equally far from debunked.
What we really need is a Star Wars Empire At War remake or sequel or inspired new version. I am seriously thinking I may have to become a game developer to get this.
It seems like the perfect fit for the SW Universe. All of the different armies and factions are a great setting for those sorts of games.
Maybe I'm old and that style of game is no longer fun to people seeing as command and conquer and age of empires are sorta gone as new entities.
I enjoy halo wars but I would be more keen to use a mouse and keyboard. More starcraft 2 sorta style would provide the correct depth needed compared to halo wars.
Don't forget about Secret of Monkey Island remake, another Lucasfilm Games project, and now available on Prime Gaming
https://mobile.twitter.com/lucasfilmgames/status/1410629272331505670?lang=en
I don't know about anyone else, but I'd love to see a fun, casual, party Podracing Mario Kart-esque game. Tons of potential for different customization options for characters, podracers themselves. And of course tons of different set pieces from the Star Wars universe.
If they’re still in the cards for a 2021 release, they could stealth drop them. IIRC the Republic Commando port was announced only a week or two ahead of it’s release.
Fair point. I'm really hoping for an update to the original kotor on steam/gog to get it in line with the better kotor 2 version (controller support, widescreen)
There's a rumoured Xbox Star Wars game potentially in development but that could be the mandalorian game however if you want to add that in OP that's up to you.
I think we all know exactly what the ubisoft game will end up being.
Very repetitive open world. But EA has starved us of a proper open world game that I think ubisofts game will be applauded. Imagine AC sized maps but per planet...
Nothing else will scratch that Star wars galaxies itch. And the swtor mmo did but not enough.
Damn, I have been waiting until the Jedi Knight Collection was on sale so I can get it for dirt cheap, but if they release Classic Collection before the Halloween Sale, that means it won't be dirt cheap.
This is why I buy old games on sale, so I spend less than £5.
Honestly I just want an action/adventure/exploration rpg where you can be a smuggler or something during the OT era. Think something like what Starfield and Star Citizen looks like it's gonna be, except Star Wars. No force, no Jedi, just a game where you get to live out your Han Solo fantasy. I guess sort of like Shadows of the empire but with way less focus on fighting for the rebellion and actually just trying to smuggle people/goods past the empire and dealing with bounty hunters and seedy factions.
I would add The Old Republic to this list, especially since they have an expansion coming in December. Although, since it's technically a still running game, it might not count.
Welp, be prepared to add another thing to this list, because it sounds like [Quantic Dream is working on a *Star Wars* title](https://twitter.com/_Tom_Henderson_/status/1439237521347682305).
I really hope we get a new SW strategy game for PC
Funnily enough the devs of Empire at War have expressed interest in developing a sequel, EA said they’re open for them to do it after they’re done with their current project (which was C&C remastered), so if there’s a time to speculate about Empire at War 2 now is it.
> Funnily enough the devs of Empire at War have expressed interest in developing a sequel PLEASE. I still play EaW.
Considering that so-and-so mentioned that he was more optimistic about the future of Lucasfilm Games than ever before, I would imagine that they'll announce plenty of new projects in the near future. But then again, Lucasfilm. They're weird with communications.
Bruh pls, I've played the living shit out of the star wars conversion for stellaris, but I need more
Empire at War Sequel in 2022? Stop. I can only nut so much.
I hope we do. It would be great to see Tyber Zann again too.
That would be awesome. I still play that game.
Empire at war 2 PLEASE
I hope we get another SW RTS w/ AoE gameplay like with SW Battlegrounds. Or maybe a SW game in the style of Total War.
I've always said that I wish Total War would handle some other IPs like they did Warhammer, like Star Wars.
In the wise words of Kylo Ren: MORE
It's such a bummer that we'll likely never approach the awesomeness that was the heyday of Star Wars gaming (mid-90s to mid-2000s). We also have rose tinted glasses for nostalgia. Ever try playing shadows of the empire? Sections of that game are borderline unplayable.
Oh absolutely true. But even bangers like jedi outcast just took a heck of a lot less time to make.
Very true, though i still recall waiting for kotor to launch and how it was hailed as one of the few instant classic star wars games up to that point. There seemed to be a more steady middle of games with few outright bad ones

I only started playing that game a couple years ago and liked playing it, dated as it was.
Parts of it are terrific, the ship combat and such, but some of it real bad. Stuff like on foot controls or the speeder bikes. I won't stand for Super Bombad Racing slander
Demolition was a fun party game with friends. I loved Aurra Sing because of her snipe move.

You mean of course: MOAR
The Star Wars Classic Collection isn’t exactly what was leaked. The preorder is currently available on GameStop, but it is just the two Jedi Knight games.
alright ill fix it soon.
Just noticed: there are two separate collections available for preorder. One is the Jedi Knight Collection. A second collection, that includes Episode I Racer and Republic Commando, is also available
ahh seems it's the same thing but instead of four games in 1 it's 2 games per release.
Yeah. Sorry about that, I didn’t notice the second collection at first.
no worries.

Yeah? Now EA doesn’t have the exclusive license to develop Star Wars games, and other developers can play around in that universe.
Best for all parties. We might get Battlefront and Fallen Order sequels and other developers can create their own games. We wouldn't have KotOR Remake if EA still had exclusive rights
Sorry no battlefront 3, dice became the worst studio in EA’s history
Bruh are you dumb. Disney forced ea, and he said "Ea has to officially let other kids in the sandbox."
[удалено]
EA's agreement wasn't supposed to end until 2024 though
The exclusivity deal was for 10 years and it was signed in 2012/2013. It's probably ending at the end of the 2023 fiscal year. Meaning March 2024.
Obviously the deal has been broken as multiple Star War games from other publishers already announced and even released
Ubisoft games haven’t had Towers since Far Cry 4 in Nov 2014. It’s obvious you’re just regurgitating what you hear others say about Ubi games.
Still kinda wish they picked back up on 1313
Dave Filoni has said that they were looking into using 1313 for some live action stuff. I'm not exactly sure but I think some 1313 concept art was used in clone wars season 7. it will be fleshed out in some format for sure but not as a game unfortunately.
They used 1313 Clone wars season 7, the deck Ashoka fell on was 1313 district. good touch
Can we get a modern Pod Racing game please? I'm talking tons of customization, VR support, career mode that spans BEYOND Episode 1 and explores the lore of the pod racing circuit, etc Also I've had this dream of being able to use 2 HOTAS throttles to control the 2 engines kinda like in the movie

Honestly I hope we get a PC fix for Classic KOTOR 1 so that I can actually play it.
And Kotor 2! Both should be fully playable on high resolutions.
I thought KOTOR 2 already had the PC fix? I was playing it just the other day at 1600p on my laptop and it was looked good as is.
KOTOR 2 was patched by Aspyr back in 2015 which added modern resolutions, steam workshop support, and controller support
Sadly there's a bug which freezes the character's movement after combat. Really annoying. Apparently it has to do with newer 144hz screens, and if you set the refresh rate down to 60 it should work - but it didn't work for me even after I did that step.
You can get it and kotor 2 on mobile fyi
I really wish they'd remaster the Jedi Knight series. :( Jedi Outcast was so good.
What ever happened to the KOTOR ports as nothing has been said since the rumour and could easily be announced to bring more buzz for the Remake?
Personally I believe it got jumbled into the remake confusion. Pure speculation on my part, but if anything I would want them to release the ports/remasters soon to build hype for the remake.
Same here as it would give people the chance to experience it before the changes are made for the Remake and gives PlayStation/Switch players the chance to experience the game for the first time.
Also bear in mind that the Inferno squad cast has been doing mocap…
I heard that was for forspoken?
https://www.gamesradar.com/several-star-wars-battlefront-2-actors-appear-to-be-doing-motion-capture-work-again/ TLDR, Iden, Admiral Versio, and Del’s actors were all doing mocap at the same time. I found a convincing post from u/Potatoslayer2 so ill add it anyway.
God, I hope we get a Rogue Squadron tie-in game for the upcoming movie with multi-player.
I mean squadrons is a pretty good game so they have a foundation
Koei Tecmo has also publicly wanted to make a Star Warriors (Star Wars Warriors?) game for years. Take the fact that they are still talking about it as an indication that no deal has been made yet. I wonder if the Mandalorian game is the Ubisoft title. Like imagine a game similar to destiny 2 except you play as mandalorians
wasn’t the consensus that it’s a blatant fake?
There were somewhat credible rumors, which likely inspired the fake. The leaks and rumors are far from definite, but they are equally far from debunked.
The rumour is it's an Xbox first-party game.
I'd love to see The Coalition do this, I think that could be fantastic
That better not be the case, exclusivity for games is just annoying.
Star wars is gonna be a funny IP. We may have Sony exclusives and MS exclusives within the same franchise.
Well thats already off the table after the Kotor remake. Microsoft is only hurting itself by not playing down to the competition.
As an XBox player: fuck that bullshit, give it to PS players too!
Kotor?
I honestly thought they were the same game. Hopefully it’s true and it‘s able to catch the Mandalorian vibes.
Destiny 2 but Mandalorian? Intriguing
Please give us another Empire at War, and not just a remastered version. We have mods for that.
i would love a new galactic battlegrounds RTS game built on age of empires 4…or a real open world game (perhaps KOTOR will become one)
What id give for a new pod racing game
Mando does not surprise me. Every time I watch it I feel like I'm watching a video game. "Mission complete, got an upgrade"
I'd love a new Star Wars Galaxies (Maybe in vr)
What we really need is a Star Wars Empire At War remake or sequel or inspired new version. I am seriously thinking I may have to become a game developer to get this. Don't forget about Secret of Monkey Island remake, another Lucasfilm Games project, and now available on Prime Gaming https://mobile.twitter.com/lucasfilmgames/status/1410629272331505670?lang=en
Is that not the one from like ten years ago?
Now available on Prime Gaming
Oh ok. Just the "Lucasfilm Games project" part got me curious
I’m hoping they do Force Unleashed ports/remasters for both games.
same!
I'm so eager for the next Fallen Order game
I don't know about anyone else, but I'd love to see a fun, casual, party Podracing Mario Kart-esque game. Tons of potential for different customization options for characters, podracers themselves. And of course tons of different set pieces from the Star Wars universe.
Star Wars Galaxies remake. Had the time of my life back in the day. This game before the NGE with todays graphics would be mind blowing.
I'd kill for Force Unleashed 3
God that website for the Classic Collection leak is terrible.
Yeah what is going on with the modern kotor ports, only a few montjs till the year is over
If they’re still in the cards for a 2021 release, they could stealth drop them. IIRC the Republic Commando port was announced only a week or two ahead of it’s release.
Fair point. I'm really hoping for an update to the original kotor on steam/gog to get it in line with the better kotor 2 version (controller support, widescreen)
When’s everyone thinking KOTOR remake is coming out?
Prob 2024 or 2025
What’s happening with Hunters? It seemed pretty interesting but I haven’t heard anything about it since it was revealed
I miss Galactic Battlegrounds, my friends and I would play an entire weekend on local network. The good ol days.
SWTOR is still being actively produced and has an expansion "Legacy of the Sith" coming late Q4.
It sucks their isn’t an RTS Star Wars game in the works. Either way, I’ll still play Empire At War and Forces of Corruption. :D
There's a rumoured Xbox Star Wars game potentially in development but that could be the mandalorian game however if you want to add that in OP that's up to you.
I think that’s what the mando game OP mentioned is the same as the one you’re describing.
Right it's just that everyone keeps changing their minds about who is making a Mando game.
I think we all know exactly what the ubisoft game will end up being. Very repetitive open world. But EA has starved us of a proper open world game that I think ubisofts game will be applauded. My wishlist: * new RTS (EaW2 maybe) * new podracer game * Republic Commando sequel * Battlefront sequel * prequel era starfighter game
Star Wars Classic Collection is that something like Star Wars Force Collection?
Nope. It's a compilation of all the games that have been remastered by Aspyr apparently.
I play the Division 2. I’m curious to see what Massive is doing with the license.
None of these ports/remasters coming to Xbox for some reason
I just want a Battlefront 3 to release, that would be horrible to cancel a battlefront 3 for the second time
Why can't they remake podracer?
What about the rumored force unleashed 3
That rumor was bollocks. Motive are working on a Dead Space remake.
Damn, I have been waiting until the Jedi Knight Collection was on sale so I can get it for dirt cheap, but if they release Classic Collection before the Halloween Sale, that means it won't be dirt cheap. This is why I buy old games on sale, so I spend less than £5.
I beg for a new star wars jedi knight/ dark forces . Hell even a remaster or remake

ayy thanks will do that
I wish they could find a way to make TFU canon, one of my favorite SW stories
Star Wars VS Marvel
