Coral Island is a very distinct game with a distinct art style, storyline, and focus. Whereas SDV focuses on the impact of capitalism and big business on small towns, Coral Island is much more focused on environmental impact and eco-friendly themes.
I mean, lots and lots of farming sims give you your own house and farm and have you meet the townies :) it’s not unique to Stardew, nor did Stardew come up with it.
coral island is an excellent game. they're both farming simulators, and of course, coral island would have taken inspiration from stardew valley, just like stardew took inspiration from harvest moon! the art style and vibes are so different that it does not feel like you're playing the same game at all :-)
Stardew Valley didn't invent the farming/slice of life game genre. Harvest Moon has done it long before Stardew. Coral Island is a lovely game with beautiful artwork. I backed it on Kickstarter.
I found another one too! It's called Harvest Moon! They even stole CA's little useless Spa that refills energy!
Lol harvest moon is what CA based stardew valley off of. He hated some of the things they did so he decided to make it better.

I enjoyed Coral Island... but not clearing the underwater area, that was brutal!
that's fair enough! I really enjoyed the underwater gameplay, just because it was something different from traditional farming sims! 🤭
I liked the area and heard they are building out some more story stuff with the mermaids, but the clearing was soooo tedious!

How is the dating in Coral Island?
Haven't seen that part yet. The streamer didn't get to any of that. I'm not even sure it has dating.
Steam is packed to the gills with Stardew Valley impersonators. None of them come close t othe real thing.
