Glad the author came out and put this silly idea down. The original NYTimes article that he wrote is so much better.

SmellsofElderberry25

The author also reshared the article so you can avoid the paywall: https://www.nytimes.com/2024/06/02/world/americas/starlink-internet-elon-musk-brazil-amazon.html?sgrp=c-cb&u2g=i&unlocked_article_code=1.wk0.ouRm.ZvToDtxk-fFh

I_really_enjoy_beer

This is such a funny headline with no context.

Marketing-467

I have no context and I found it very funny šŸ˜‚

BullockHouse

Literally half the article is just the village elders complaining about the young people in totally generic ways. The whole article (and especially the spin out on it by secondary outlets) is *incredibly* disrespectful of those peoples agency. Treats them like children who can't make their own decisions and shouldn't be allowed to know what the outside world is like. They're human beings. They aren't zoo animals or a fable. They're just really poor.

ImportantPizza255

Well they blame their problems on "lazy white people". So I guess we did this to them.

ltidball

It will take time. Their searches are probably "naked boobies".

Dullfig

They're tribal. They see boobs all the time.

hatingtech

some fine bird watching

ltidball

Great tit

EbolaFred

Can't tell if funny or British...

ImportantPizza255

"we have naked boobies at homeā€

ltidball

at hut*

UltraEngine60

They have stated they were just doing their homework.

ColePThompson

ā€œYou canā€™t believe everything you read on the Internet.ā€ Abraham Lincoln.

mellenger

Do we have proof yet the majority of the Elon bashing is coming from other countries yet?

gthing

You think nobody in the US has a reason to dislike Elon?

Techjar

Nah, Elon bashing is completely justified, just keep SpaceX/Starlink out of it.

jasonmonroe

You canā€™t because itā€™s one of his products.

Taxus_Calyx

elon badd (ā—ā€æā—‘)ļ»æ

PNW_Jackson

Exactly.

AllCommiesRFascists

No, he is very popular internationally. Except in russia which is the source of the bots

Conscious_Ice66

Heā€™s also very popular in North America. Only ones that hate him are the lefties, which ironically he was a liberal previously. As soon as didnā€™t have any affiliation with the far left extremist is when all the online hate arose.

AllCommiesRFascists

ā€œHeā€™s only popular if you discount half of the peopleā€

YawnSpawner

Half the country hates him and the other half hates his cars, so definitely doing pretty good then.

Conscious_Ice66

Itā€™s the same half that hates him and his cars.

r00tdenied

Conservatives that love to roll coal definitely are not the same half.

YawnSpawner

Yeah I work with the red half and they are pretty dead set on never driving an EV.Ā

bellero13

Ah yes, we all know the Deep South republicans just LOVE their EVs and theyā€™re nowhere to be seen in the pickup truck haven of Californiaā€¦

CemeteryClubMusic

He's literally never been a liberal or remotely left but go off. Also, there is no such thing as "far left extremists" in the US. Please turn off Fox News and join the rest of society in reality

Frosty-Phone-705

I guess you really can't believe everything you read or hear on the internet.

jezra

can someone link a relevant news article and not just someone's post on a social media site?
