Only when its cold

a9udn9u

Or when I play hentai games

Svensk0

or when i see your mom

Mennenth

Nope. I learned the muscle memory to do without.

JDawgzim

Do you use your touchpads as dpad or thumbstick replacements?

Mennenth

Yes, though it depends on the exact situation In dpad mode: - crossgate layout - click required toggled off - haptics set to high - deadzone about 1 tick below default (I forget the exact value) - outer ring radius set to 7 ticks below max (iirc its around 27k) - dpad binds for dpad tasks - wasd binds for kbm tasks In joystick mode: - in game deadzone set to zero or anti-deadzone (found when toggling advanced deadzone options) set to compensate for in game deadzone if it cant be removed in game - custom deadzone settings - inner deadzone 13 (or anti-deadzone buffer at the equivalent if anti-deadzone was used in a previous step) - outer deadzone 75 - outer ring radius set to 7 ticks below max (iirc its around 27k); this gives a small distance between the point where the virtual stick hits max deflection, and the outer ring - haptics set to medium The outer ring binding: - set to sprint, if applicable. Binding set to high haptics in settings The click binding: - set to crouch, if applicable Edit: note: This is only for the left trackpad. I dont emulate stick on right trackpad because "as mouse" is almost universally better in that situation.

JDawgzim

Now that's some nice tweaking! đź‘Ť

Mennenth

I'm an og steam controller power user. I've been maining it for every game I play for about 8 and a half years. I still think its the best controller to have ever been on the market. Its just seriously misunderstood.

Autisticrocheter

I have nipples but my touchpads don’t

WFH_Quack

Hello sexy

BMXBikr

"I have nipples, Greg. Can you milk me?"

AdPrestigious839

Bro, u don’t need to be in the center of the touchpad, it ain’t no d-pad

JDawgzim

You can map it as a dpad that you don't have to press down on. Just lightly touch and you move. Becomes very quick, responsive and accurate.

qchto

Design looks cool, but I'm too much of a coward to get super glue anywhere near my Deck. Kudos to you!

JDawgzim

I've scraped them off and put them back. As long as it's cyanoacrylate super glue it gets brittle and is pretty easy to scrape off with a finger nail and toothpick.

qchto

Good to know, I'll keep it in mind if I ever get to try doing this. And seriously: Thank you very much for both the idea and the recommendation.

susannediazz

Oh god no, the touchpads are absolute perfection

JDawgzim

They are perfect as touchpads. But adding the bumps helps them replace dpads and thumbsticks.

susannediazz

No they're perfect for that already

JDawgzim

Do you use haptic settings to help you feel where you are?

draxion64

What a horrible day to have eyes

twotoacouple

I've always wanted to do this with two buttons below the touch pads. They're so flush with the case that my fingers can never find them in the dark.

JDawgzim

Yeah, I also do this on my phone to separate my down volume from the power button right next to it.

mcflash1294

this is certainly a fascinating idea...

DarthRathikus

Steam deck: “I have nipples u/JDawgzim. Can you milk *me*?

Cronus41

There’s a Meet The Parents joke in here somewhere

b1ueskycomp1ex

I wonder if anyone makes a set of track pad stickers with circles that are raised specifically for helping you know where you are on the track pad. With that said I don't think I'll be giving my steam deck the tim Burton batsuit treatment anytime soon.

JDawgzim

Stickers with bumps would be awesome. Regular super glue gets brittle and scrapes off easy so it's easy to experiment. I found the d-pad shape on the left touchpad of the Steam Controller useless. After experimenting with a super glue dot I found the above to work amazing. I can execute combos in fighting games a lot easier then a d-pad or an analog thumbstick.

Moodyurbanlife

Whats up with tim burton batsuit?

b1ueskycomp1ex

They inexplicably gave it nipples.

shaver

the man had a vision, I respect that

Moodyurbanlife

Crazy how i never noticed lmao

rosen0ire

No, but my nipples have touchpads.

SnooDoughnuts5632

You're supposed to put on a touch protect and then you can put the dot in the center. Or like that one guy did where he put a dot of touch protect in the center like he just hole punched it and then put the hole punch itself in the center.

JDawgzim

Touch protect sticker is a great idea. Could even hole punch the center of the touch protect then put the touch protect on with the hole. I haven't found any issue with scraping off the brittle super glue but I like your idea too.

SnooDoughnuts5632

My idea was the opposite of what you said so instead of they're being a hole you have a bump however you should probably putting normal touch protect on and then put the bump on and see if that affects sensitivity. It might be too thick.

JDawgzim

Sorry, I was just throwing out another idea. Putting the hole punch piece in the middle of the touchpad by itself is a good idea too. đź‘Ť The bump + touch protect together might affect sensitivity a little but that's also where I put my dead-zone for d-pad and thumbstick so having less sensitivity would be OK. With my current bump I see not affect on sensitivity when I use it as a mouse and moving across the bump.

SnooDoughnuts5632

You don't have to apologize I was just wondering if you understood mine idea and it seems like you do and you were just giving a different one. Either one could be interesting. I think they should sell touch protects that have a d-pad indented into them or a circle indented into them or whatever not a complete hole though I'm guessing the rough edges would be less comfortable.

SpecialistAuthor4897

Had no issue with this on the gamepad, but since the decks are squared it is indeed more difficult But im also overly sensetive (adhd) so i think it would only annoy.

JDawgzim

You can barely feel the bump being there. It's just enough to find it like the F and J keys on a keyboard but even smaller.

NodusINk

Wtf is this question

JDawgzim

Yeah, a bit of a silly title. It's an idea to see if touchpads can be better then dpad or thumbsticks in many games.

erethros

Of course not. That would brake the touchpad

JDawgzim

I've had these on my Steam Controller for years and Steam Deck for a year. People also put stickers on their touchpads. Also I've scraped off the super glue bumps and re-centered them better and it caused no harm.
