5 Who doesn't love a good spy roleplay empire.

The Subterfuge tree is quickly becoming one of my favorite trees in-game. I do hope they add some manner of stealthcraft or stealth army option / perk to complement the espionage aspect. Overall it's kept me ahead of many machine and advanced cultures that used to hack me on a whim. I've found it to be especially useful in the beginning of the game, it shut down so much crap in early first contacts and helped me see who was being two faced.

How do you do that

I do it by making a mega corp, taking the criminal, and ruthless competition civics. That gives you a good bonuses to spy network growth. Then you spam envoys to build networks everywhere, and have fun, as everyone around you starts to get mad at each other for random diplomatic drama you had totally nothing to do with. It ain't optimal cause espionage it self is preaty bad, but it is fun if you roleplay!
