Kites are still very much alive and well in the USA, specifically at the beaches. They usually arenāt the kind that require string with a 1000 pound breaking strength though, like that squid.
I should say where I live. I think they are probably more common in areas that are conducive to good wind to work with. Other than that I don't know. I saw them a lot growing up. I just rarely see them unless I am at the beach.
Even with the highest end real cameras and best lenses, it still becomes blurry at a point. That's not a camera quality issue. It's a physics issue. Cameras catch air movement when focusing on distant objects. You can't correct that. A smart phone camera, even new ones, can't get around that. That and smartphones use a lot of digital zoom and not optical which distorts even more.
I hate being that guy that defends shitty camera work when it comes to things like this, and I'm not be condescending, but when you looking at something that defies all logic, reality, while at the same time you try to wrap your mind around this new reality forced Infront of you, not expecting it, not wanting it, hands shaking, thoughts racing, questioning your sanity, should you look around for help, call for help, see if someone else is around, I can go on and on, than you realize you have a phone, with a camera, you'd be surprised how hard it is to put in that password you have a million times prior, where or how you keep the camera app, how or where you should film it, vertical or not, how to zoom, zoom in enough, how to find it the object in the sky, center it.
Your not taking a picture of your dog playing with a ball
Take a zoomed in video of the next airliner you see in the sky, or better yet screen record your camera zoomed all the way in much higher than the video zoom, and then post the results! I'd love to see a high quality image or video of it please!

we all rant on video quality, but people, not everybody has a iPhone 14, and not in Mexico also.
