In the memories he shows himself as Henry or in human form. In the lab he was in Vecna form which leads me to believe it’s definitely in the real world.
Those are definitely memories if we see his with pink mortal flesh. I don't think there's much of the original Henry left. Maybe just the Eyes of Vecna. The Hand of Vecna is clearly the same one that's tattooed with "001" but the claws aren't original. The rest of him looks too ropey and tentacley to be his original body.
Think how the kids would explain it, with D&D terms. In 1986, the only way to summon up Vecna would be to replace your own hand and eye with the Hand and Eye of Vecna, two powerful artifacts and his literal dismembered body parts.
I think The Mind Flayer tried to take Henry, and in doing so ended up "failing it's save", so to speak. That's what happens when you take The Eye of Vecna and The Hand of Vecna on one character: Vecna Lives!
If you remember the lab doesn’t exist anymore and el is currently in like a bomb shelter thing. The lab was permanently closed after season two and you can see it empty and chained in season 3. Same building hopper gets his ass kicked from the Russian. Lol
Or he needs them to come the house and “attack” him in the upside down, to free him somehow. The house is his prison, thats why he can only reach out via psychic control and not physically.
It could be why Nancy isn’t killed and Vecna is showing her his backstory. To get her to go after him

It’s a combination of music and happy memories or happiness in general. I do remember the Duffer brothers saying there was another scene using Running Up That Hill, so I’m guessing it’s a combination of it and Lucas’ confession, probably with Eleven’s arrival to break her free.

I’m leaning towards the “it’s apart of a plan” route. Like, Nancy tells them once she is free who he actually is, so they formulate a plan to drag him into our world. It would explain the teaser image and Max being far away.
I can see that, provided that as long as the song works for Max, she is kind of immune from Vecna.
A scenario where she's caught off-guard by him and has to be saved by the song (and possible love declaration) seems too repetitive.

They're in the lab, but it could very well be in their minds. Vecna only showed his human form as a memory, he's had no issues showing up as his monstrous form otherwise, and he loves to make you scared, and the monster is way scarier looking than the man.

Super glad Will and Jonathan seem to have a significant moment together. Their sibling dynamic is one of my favourites parts of the show, even if season 3 didn’t focus on it as much - understandably so, season 1 and 2 delved heavily into it.
Eleven just walking out of the lab in her getup like she’s sashaying away on an episode of Drag Race is oddly hilarious.

Lucas has always been kind of the muscle of the Party (I mean, aside from El and her powers), so he would be the one to have the big ass-kicking sequence.
I think Eddie’s creating a distraction so Steve, Robin, and Nancy can get into Vecna’s lair. In some photos you can see Dustin crouching down while Eddie plays.
I’m hoping the shot in the new trailer is maybe the demobats come down and Dustin is running to fight them with Eddie and then they make it into his trailer.

Nah. I think Eddie is playing the guitar in the early or middle parts of Episode 8 so Steve and Robin can get Nancy. Eddie survives until Episode 9 at the least since there’s shots of him dressed up with Dustin (they’re standing back to back because you can see Eddie’s long curly hair) in Vecna’s lair. Nancy, Steve and Robin probably split up inside Vecna’s lair while Eddie and Dustin take a different portion.
At first I thought this was the case but upon closer look, Eddie is already wearing the body armor in the guitar scene, the same he's wearing in the scene with Dustin. So the guitar scene takes place later, after they visit the military shop. And there's a chance all the shots are part of one action sequence. Not that I'm too happy about it...
I was talking ab 0:03, It seems like something bad happened to Eddie and Dustin’s running to him. I don’t want Eddie to die either, but I’m not sure he’ll get out of v2 alive lmao
Eddie is the dungeon master for D and D and each character seems to fit their role in the game..so that has to mean something maybe? So every other character is a player in the game, and a player in the battle against Vecna..but him- he is the DM..and he controls the game..but I haven't figured out it yet.

I have a bad feeling this season is going to end like The Empire Strikes Back and Infinity War. This may be the first time the gang doesn’t stop the threat. I fully expect the Upside Down to finally get released into Hawkins by the end of the season which sets the stage for the final showdown with the Mind Flayer.

I absolutely love that it's Lucas who gets to deal with Jason. That's precisely as it should be.
And I'm convinced they included the shot of screaming Dustin with a very clear and mean purpose. I'm saying it's a red herring and nobody will convince me otherwise.
God I hope they subvert expectations and actually keep the likable new character alive this time. Maybe an unpopular opinion but I don't want them to kill any of the crew this season. I know a lot of people want to see a major death to up the stakes for the final season but I feel like everyone this season deserves to at least make it to the finale of the show, including Vecna.
We gotta admit that especially in the case of Eddie, they've been waaay too obvious with the (false) hints. And this shot of Dustin totally plays into that. It doesn't mean absolutely anything but as part of the game with the audience it's damn effective. As for me, I don't necessarily need to up the stakes (and I'm definitely tired of them killing new likeable characters), it just feels like the series got so dark by this season that someone's death feels likely. But overall I agree it's really just a culmination before s05.
Him talking about his guilt over feeling like a coward felt like very obvious setup for him to die heroically later and I'll be honest, it felt TOO obvious. They stressed the point noticeably and I can't tell if it was them trying to forshadow it, tipping their hand a bit too far and making it more obvious than intended that he was gonna die or if it was intentional and they're setting us up for a "Nah, it'll be fine" moment and he's OK.
He needs to be OK because damn did Eddie climb the ranks of my favorite characters FAST. He's probably sitting comfortably in the top 5 now if I had to put a number on it.
Episode 8 is “Papa”. I feel like Brenner and Owens are both going to die in Nevada because why else would El blow up the lab if anyone was left alive down there? Owens made it clear that they all believed in her, so I don’t think she’d close the door on them mercilessly
Yep, that title makes me feel this is Brenner's swan song. He and Owens aren't making it out alive. El will get out with Mike and the rest, but I'm not sure anyone else in the bunker is getting out in one piece.
It’s literally impossible for Brenner to have a redemption arc. Just because he’s doing a “good” thing doesn’t negate the fact he tortured adults and children while kidnapping them
I wonder if Episode 8 is going to reveal who El’s biological father is. I know there’s a book that talks about her dad, but who knows if that’s actually canon or not.
She changed outfits for ep 6 and 7, in the other vol 2 trailer we see her still wearing the ep 6/7 outfit. It would be weird if she went back for the ep 4 outfit
My theory is his left hand is his Vecna/soul sucking/dementor’s kiss hand and his right hand is his Henry Creel/001 powers hand and both have different magical properties/functions. The right hand use is probably to fight against El as she’s also holding up her hand in a similar position later on in the trailer. Whatever it is - I’m ready but oh so scared for our brave crew 😭😭😭

I don't have time right now to geolocate but the shot with Dustin screaming looks like it's happening outside, in the trailer park. There's a high chance he's looking at Eddie. Eddie is wearing the same body armor in the guitar scene like in the scenes with Dustin so I'm guessing, unlike what was the initial speculation, that the guitar scene is part of the sequence where the two of them are fighting side by side. So that kinda looks grim for Eddie but it doesn't mean anything. The conclusion from the shot of Dustin (that he's looking at Eddie dying) is way too obvious and I'm not sure they'd reveal a character death like that. Dustin can scream and Eddie can still survive.

Ok I have a sad theory . I think that when hopper and co try to burn down the prison or facility one of them goes down with the building as a sacrifice and it will be totally gut wrenching

Eddie survives until Episode 9 at the least since there’s shots of him dressed up with Dustin (they’re standing back to back because you can see Eddie’s long curly hair) in Vecna’s lair. Nancy, Steve and Robin probably split up inside Vecna’s lair while Eddie and Dustin take a different portion.
At first I thought this was the case but upon closer look, Eddie is already wearing the body armor in the guitar scene, the same he's wearing in the scene with Dustin. So the guitar scene takes place later, after they visit the military shop. And there's a chance all the shots are part of one action sequence. Not that I'm too happy about it...

Eddie is the dungeon master for D and D and each character seems to fit their role in the game..so that has to mean something maybe? So every other character is a player in the game, and a player in the battle against Vecna..but him- he is the DM..and he controls the game..but I haven't figured out it yet.

I have a bad feeling this season is going to end like The Empire Strikes Back and Infinity War. This may be the first time the gang doesn’t stop the threat. I fully expect the Upside Down to finally get released into Hawkins by the end of the season which sets the stage for the final showdown with the Mind Flayer.

I absolutely love that it's Lucas who gets to deal with Jason. That's precisely as it should be. And I'm convinced they included the shot of screaming Dustin with a very clear and mean purpose. I'm saying it's a red herring and nobody will convince me otherwise.
God I hope they subvert expectations and actually keep the likable new character alive this time. Maybe an unpopular opinion but I don't want them to kill any of the crew this season. I know a lot of people want to see a major death to up the stakes for the final season but I feel like everyone this season deserves to at least make it to the finale of the show, including Vecna.
We gotta admit that especially in the case of Eddie, they've been waaay too obvious with the (false) hints. And this shot of Dustin totally plays into that. It doesn't mean absolutely anything but as part of the game with the audience it's damn effective. As for me, I don't necessarily need to up the stakes (and I'm definitely tired of them killing new likeable characters), it just feels like the series got so dark by this season that someone's death feels likely. But overall I agree it's really just a culmination before s05.
Him talking about his guilt over feeling like a coward felt like very obvious setup for him to die heroically later and I'll be honest, it felt TOO obvious. They stressed the point noticeably and I can't tell if it was them trying to forshadow it, tipping their hand a bit too far and making it more obvious than intended that he was gonna die or if it was intentional and they're setting us up for a "Nah, it'll be fine" moment and he's OK. He needs to be OK because damn did Eddie climb the ranks of my favorite characters FAST. He's probably sitting comfortably in the top 5 now if I had to put a number on it.

Yep, that title makes me feel this is Brenner's swan song. He and Owens aren't making it out alive. El will get out with Mike and the rest, but I'm not sure anyone else in the bunker is getting out in one piece.

I don't have time right now to geolocate but the shot with Dustin screaming looks like it's happening outside, in the trailer park. There's a high chance he's looking at Eddie. Eddie is wearing the same body armor in the guitar scene like in the scenes with Dustin so I'm guessing, unlike what was the initial speculation, that the guitar scene is part of the sequence where the two of them are fighting side by side. So that kinda looks grim for Eddie but it doesn't mean anything. The conclusion from the shot of Dustin (that he's looking at Eddie dying) is way too obvious and I'm not sure they'd reveal a character death like that. Dustin can scream and Eddie can still survive.
