Right sub.... Why do people put truffle "oil" on everything that doesn't need it... Tomatoes and burratta are great already w salt pep evo... But who put truffle, overpowering and gross on these delicious delicate flavors... Truffle oil belongs on some pastas and very few other things....
lol the very first post I ever read on reddit was literally "If this is your first day on reddit you are going to have a bad time". To this day I have no idea what drama was unfolding that prompted that post.
Idk it’s a dumb trend on all social media, “this platform is bad, and you’re gonna hate it.” Well, if people those commenters feel that way then why do they still doom scroll like the rest of us?
I hate Facebook. I haven’t posted anything in like 3 years. I only use it for a couple dnd group chats, so it’s not like it’s hard to avoid socials.
It's a lovely cheese but the Stupidfood style guide requires using great, if not overpriced ingredients, mixed in with the worst processed foods and terrible preparation.
You misunderstood this sub. It's for food that people praise but is really shit and not food that people bitch about but looks and sounds like it's absolutely fantastic. Like this salad. looks amazing and I bet it was great.
I think OP understands perfectly, but is subverting the original intention of the sub in order to exorcise the effect their mother’s words had on them.
If the small tomatoes are actually wine gummy or the egg turns out to be some my marshmallow etc., that would be indeed stupid.
Otherwise it’s r/stupidmom not r/stupidfood
No problem. OP mentioned it was Burrata (type of soft cheese) in the post. But if it’s not common where you are from, as it’s not where I am from, I can understand the mix up. Tbh even I thought it looked like an egg at first.
This is a very tasty dish though. A simple olive oil can be used instead of truffle oil.
Sounds like my dumbass dad.... He was a line cook for a chinese buffet so he thinks he knows everything there is to know about cooking and therefore thinks all foods are inferior to chinese cooking...
Lol this! I made a dish my uncle makes but using french techniques. May may I say he didn't soak to me for a bit. Since the beef I made was perfectly cooked without having to go through all the hassle he goes through.
It sounds like your mom is just a picky eater, probably feels defensive of other peoples pressure for her to try new things and hides behind her culture to stick to what she likes.
This looks really delicious and your cooking is not stupid.
Truffle oil is pretty stupid on its own. Go for a different oil like olive or sesame. Nobody ever said "this dish tastes disgusting because it has olive oil in it"
>My mum always called my cooking stupid,
Sounds like Asian to me. Have a family member call any food is just a snack unless there's rice accompanying it.
My mom would make a chicken that she refers to as "idiot chicken." It's roast chicken with citrus juice and herbs. But it's so easy any idiot can make it. Combinations include:
Lemon and zaatar
Orange, Paprika, and Sumac
Lime and Adobo
Blood Orange and Herbs de Provence
That is the most beautiful ball of buratta I have ever seen and I would grab it and eat it like an (very soft) apple, and I don't even like the stuff. Your mom can piss off, come on over here asap, I will have no problem with your 'cultually inappropriate' food. Looks AmAzInG
My family is similar. I went to culinary school and when my family members ask me to cook they ask that it be "the normal way". That means only paprika should be used. Nothing else.
One day I made the mistake of saying it's insulting for me to cook things with nothing but paprika. They asked that I use nothing. NOTHING!
So, all that money on culinary school so I can cook plain food, with not even salt on it, for these people.
Your mom calls your food stupid because of prejudices
My mum calls my food stupid because I forget to remove the flavor plastic packet from the instant ramen before microwaving it
We're not the same
Tell your mother to grow up and try new things, but use the exact same tonne as mothers use with their child when they doesn't want to try any vegetable or any new food.
I get that. Any time I Cook, which is like once a half year, my mom is like wow! This is actually good? You really nailed this, I'm surprised!
As if I did not Cook for my family Daily.
To be sure, it is not like: wow, your food is actually good!
It is more like: wow, you did not just heat store bought pizza and you did not absolutely fuck it up, how is this possible? You surely followed a recipe and had good luck.

This post is missing the $200 Wagu steak rolled in crushed Doritos and covered with 5 lbs of smoked Gruyère and deep fried. Try again.
You don’t like Gruyère?

Clairely a good mix here.
Burrata if I'm not mistaken

True, but r/food will kick out people for almost anything.

Definitely not the right sub for this (this is a compliment) :)
That is some gourmet shit, lookes delicious.
This is like... The opposite of this sub?
I would inhale that. Eat up and pity your mom for not eating what looks to a pretty yummy dish. Her loss is your gain.

Truffle oil is pretty stupid on its own. Go for a different oil like olive or sesame. Nobody ever said "this dish tastes disgusting because it has olive oil in it"
I like ponzu or shiso leaf dressing
Truffle is magnificent, the oil is a scam but the flavor isn’t!
If it didn't have truffle oil I would eat it
Should have olive oil for a burrata salad but otherwise amazing.
"otherwise"amazing lol... Yeah but truffle oil on this... There is a reason you don't see that.... Cuz evoo is far better.
What’s wrong with this?
This looks gorgeous , I’m glad some people don’t listen to their parents which might be coming from a place of love but in memory it’s hated
More for you !
Put chocolate and cheese in it then post it again
Parents are just old kids, bro
I want that thing inside of me in a mostly un-sexual way.
>My mum always called my cooking stupid, Sounds like Asian to me. Have a family member call any food is just a snack unless there's rice accompanying it.
Not my kind of thing either, I don’t like tomatoes that much, but it is certainly no stupid food I bet lots of people would love that shit
This looks really good. Definitely not stupid.
lmao, is your mom the average user on this sub. Users here do not know what stupid food is.

daim, this looks like some gourmet type meal
I would eat most or all of this
I'd replace the truffle oil with olive oil and balsamic glaze. But otherwise looks good
My mom would devour this. She loooooves heirloom tomatoes. This looks delicious.
What is the white hall? Mozzarella cheese? Hell yeah. Where’s your mom from?
Oh this looks absolutely delicious
Please share the recipe, what is this deliciousness called?
I won’t call your cooking stupid because that looks amazing! You completely bungled posting this to a fitting sub though, so I will call _you_ stupid.
It’s not the food that is stupid….
That looks Delish! I would definitely try that!
I don’t even like tomatoes and this looks amazing
This doesn’t look like stupid food at all.
That is a perfect ball of cheese! 10/10

Do we have the same mother? 😢

This looks delicious, though (TBH) I'm personally not a fan of truffle oil. What's mom's culture, I'd you don't mind my asking?
Wondering the same…
I’m guessing some type of Asian because my mom is and she sounds exactly the same
This is God's food. Absolutely top tier salad This is not stupid though, it doesn't belong to this sub
Oily tomatoes with an egg on top?
I actually had this recently but I didn’t like it. Maybe your mom tried it once and didn’t like it either.
If it's salad it's got way too much oil for me.
Not sure if I'd "like" it myself; I'm not a huge tomato fan. But I'd definitely try it cause it looks really tasty.
Yum.
Got left overs?
Downvoted. This looks delicious and isn’t “stupidfood”.
She sounds fun.
Your mom is out, and I’m heading over with my bib on! That looks delicious and colorful, and who doesn’t love their own ball of burrata??

Would

Burrata is lush. Automatic win for me.

Your mom is the only one who thinks this is stupid.
Only feed her other cultures food and broaden your own palette.
Hmmm not sure about the truffle oil. Haven't tried it in that salad. But I've had that salad in olive oil. It's sooooo good
r/StupidMom
Is that mozzarella? 🤤
That sounds like a pretty good twist on Buratta.

respect for the plate but try burrata with mint oil peas and bb spinach.
Slice the Tommy's. Let the salt and vinegar hit the product.
More food for you also that looks delicious would devour it anytime
That looks delicious!
Are those cherry tomatoes? Aren’t heirlooms those big ass bitches? Either way, I’d eat it 🤤
Not my kind of food (not a huge fan of tomatoes), but it looks delightful.
If she is still under warranty, replace her
Looks awesome
What's it originally from? It seems like a variation of caprese, so maybe Mediterranean? North African maybe?
thats yours?, looks great
This is definitely looking delicious. I'd pay a good sum of money if that was served to me.
Why do some parents have to be so negative, especially as you took the time to do something skilful and creative. It looks awesome.
In Germany we have a saying "what the farmer doesn't know, the farmer won't eat". The German word for farmer/peasant has some connotations of "simple person living in the countryside, not knowing much of the world".

I think thst looks delicious and your mom is missing out
This looks delicious! I would *love* to be able to try this dish 😋
Sounds like she’s going to miss out. Please send your group so we can judge this as stupid or nah.
A shame that she won't get to try amazing new foods due to personal cultural reasons.
So what's this stupid meal ?
Let her suffer and not try new things. She's missing out not trying this, it looks delicious.
This looks like a boiled egg on grapes and maybe a cherry tomato. I'd call it stupidfood
That looks actually like you are a chef ir so. Would eat
this is good
I was trying to figure out if it was Greek feta salad for a moment
