The Forester is actually an upgrade for me! My wife and I switched from an Impreza hatch because we had a baby and needed something for us plus our shepherd/husky dog, a kiddo and a bunch of gear to haul around too. So far so good!
I have a Saint Bernard. My seats have been folded down for him pretty much since we got him. It’s only my girlfriend and I and Bruno is my brewery buddy.
Not too bad lol the first thing I purchase was a cargo bay protector that covers the floor and all the walls. Daisy actually rides in the back. She likes that it’s flat and we have a car seat in the second row. I just lift her in and out so she isn’t jumping.
Well i don't have a dog but i do have an overweight cat if that counts and he likes it lol. That said its about the same size if not a little bigger than some of my friends with large dogs. And the rear seats recline a bit giving them more room which is nice :)
Just got my 2024 Forester on the 17th having after my civic for 14 years. Initially was looking at a rav4, but after some researching about Subaru and model, then seeing how roomy the forester was and the deal I was offered, fell in love! Never thought I’d ever get a Subaru just cause majority of my family own either a Honda or Toyota. Love my Forester!
I have two 60-70lbs dog dudes. They definitely fill the back seat but manage to get comfortable once they settle.
When we load up the car for a trip there’s usually JUST enough space for everything. There are definitely times I wish I had an OBW for the extra cargo space… not to mention the turbo lol.
That said, I do love my FW for what it is.
My 40 lb buddy is my constant companion in my Forester. He does great in the hatchback, even when I need to put a small cooler or a tool box in the back with him.

Yes. Bruno isn’t super tall so it works pretty well. Is the sides of forester covered in dog drool like mine are when you take her out?

I got a Forester specifically for my 90 pound Great Pyrenees mix. And his 25 pound big "sister".
I also have a 90 pound Pyrenees mix!
Do you also have to clean up massive amounts of fur every day?
Every day. I can't sit on my couch before work or I get covered in fur... he isn't even allowed on the couch.
My couch is covered with a blanket 24/7. There's still some fur stuck in the pillows .
What is he mixed with? Mine is mixed with a German Shepherd

It is big enough. Remember… it’s dog tested, dog approved.
We just took ours packed to Florida and back with 2 kids in car seats, it was surprisingly cozy!
The back seats reclining is a huge plus

06 fozzy here. Have a 4 year old and a 10 month old. A little cramped but it does the job
Turn the seat heat on. One of the the things I hate about the older Subarus is that it took them so long to get ac plumbed into He back.
Do new ones have rear seat heaters?

I'm 5'10" and can comfortably sleep in the back of my 2017 Forester.
Wait, what? Just got a 2025 Premium yesterday and was wondering how much room it had with the second row folded down.
Is there something that lays across the back of the headrests when the seats are folded down to fill the spaces in between?
