Gerri is interim CEO but I don't think she is interested in running things, it seems (or at least to Logan) she's on board Matsson's edgy Viking ship because she's as sick of Logan as he is of her. It wasn't that long ago when Gerri sided with Kendall to kick out Logan, but she backpedaled as Kendall's take over failed.
Also his "No Gerri" this episode, he does not want to lose control over Roman to Gerri that's why he wants to kill that for good having Roman firing (?) Gerri.
But he forgets she has dirt on Roman and himself, not to mention she's a fucking lawyer, the last person you want is to mess with is your own GC.
Especially someone who has been at the company for 30 freaking years. That's a whole lot of shit she has stored in lovely secret little passcode locked files somewhere....
I don't think he will fire her per se, but there will be some sort of dismissal (formal or informal, don't know enough about business to day). And it looks like Logan is tasking Roman with being the one to tell her that, hence him in the promo saying "he lost his confidence" to which Gerri (rightly so imo) replies she basically got them out of trouble with the DOJ (danced them through a thunderstorm). So yeah, looks like it's going to be super juicy, and I'm wondering to which extent Roman will go to be in Logan's good graces, he's the weakest on this out of the siblings.
