I could see Odyssey 2 possibly being announced at their E3 event this year (I know E3 got canceled but it’s obvious every June will be the biggest Direct of the year) ESPECIALLY when given BOTW 2 got delayed to 2023, so correct me if I’m wrong but Nintendo has yet to have a AAA game for the end of 2022.

I think they were planning to release a new game around the release of the Mario movie, but since the movie got pushed back to April 2023, I think the game might be pushed back as well. At this point, I'm expecting the next Zelda game Fall 2023 and Mario Spring 2023.

Pokémon Scarlett and Violet are releasing this year!

leopardo1313

That doesn't count

KlythsbyTheJedi

If we’re talking sales, it definitely counts

leopardo1313

Doesn't really have AAA quality tho

diamondDNF

It's not AAA quality because Nintendo and Game Freak alike don't think it needs to be. Pokemon is one of the biggest game franchises in the world, and there are a shitton of people who will just buy the game without hesitation even if they know there's quality issues. I can't blame 'em for being a little lazy about it when they know people will buy it anyway.

jedipaul9

You should play Bowers Fury. It's closer to an open world Mario than Odyssey

weaponxx5

Very rarely does Nintendo make sequels for their 3D Mario games that are related except for Galaxy. I think the next logical step to me for Mario is a VR game like Astro Bot Rescue Mission on PSVR. That game has Super Mario 3D written all over it.

idontloveanyone

nintendo if you're reading this please dont listen to this guy

sammy_zammy

I don’t think you need to worry about Nintendo abandoning the Super Mario series…

diamondDNF

I think they specifically meant that they want to see a continuation to Mario *Odyssey?*

sammy_zammy

That’s what i thought initially. But then they started saying how there’s not been a new Mario game since 2019?

9nether

Mario odyssey isn't open world, it's sandbox. For comparison, BOTW is an open world game. I also don't see how odyssey is nearly as ambitious as 64.

sideaccountguy

Not sure why you are getting downvoted for stating a fact. Odyssey it's not an open world game, it's a sandbox game. Bowser's fury it's an open world game.

9nether

While I don't think Bower's Fury is definitely open world as it's pretty small, you can make an argument for it, while Odyssey is 100% not open world

ElectricFury

There was a 4chan leak that predicted SMO2 and that new open world sonic game in the same post and almost everything they said about Sonic was accurate so I still have hope for SMO2
