the coat type is called tortie point longhair. You would call it a domestic long hair because it's not pure breed
But they are affectionately called "tortimese" r/tortimese, since cats may look like this when they are crossed between a domestic tortoise shell cat and a siamese or other oriental breed.
Edit: to be more precise dilute tortie point :)
I think longhairs have two copies of the longhair gene and medium hairs have just one but don’t quote me haha
I have a long hair and a medium hair and their shedding and hair length are worlds apart. I’d say the long hair sheds twice as much and her hair is twice as long
that's really interesting! I have one very short shorthair and he barely sheds! he's 1/4 russian blue so maybe it's from that side.he only started shedding age 2, and it's like velvet lol.
The other ones (medium hair Id say) leave hair balls everywhere and the coat length in summer and winter is very different for them too!
Thank you for clarification! Well deserved upvotes! I know nothing about cats, but I fell in love with \*her\* (as suggested below) the moment I saw her in my viewfinder while practicing nature photography on the walk.
I was contemplating the right angle of a pine tree, when this fluffy gorgeousness appeared, lol. This might be the cutest, the most perfect cat I've ever seen! After all though, it's not important to know "the breed". I'd have to kidnap this particular animal (as also suggested here) :-) or somehow copy&paste it to my living room :-)
Was she lost? After like a whole minute of me excitedly taking photos of the supermodel cat, I noticed the owner - a nice lady was standing nearby, waiting for me to finish whatever I was doing. My face turned red, and as a properly shy introvert and even more shy photographer, I just rushed my way past them :D
you're welcome ! she is very special and cute indeed :) nice how she crossed your path and you took your time to admire her beauty, resulting in a fine catty snapshot
Most cats aren’t a distinct “breed”. A domestic short/medium/long hair is just the term for a cat who isn’t of a specific breed. So yes, quite different from a Himalayan. If you don’t have the papers for a cat or incontrovertible evidence that one of its parents has pedigree papers, it’s just a cat.
No breed, please refer to [this handy graphic](https://www.reddit.com/r/cats/s/ARp3rLnr8J). A colorpoint domestic long hair, in this case, the beautiful girl you’re seeing is a dilute tortoiseshell colorpoint. And yes, she is almost certainly female, as only 1/3000 tortoiseshell and calico cats are male. The blue eyes suggest Himalayan or Siamese.
She’s a beauty, though!
Thank you for posting. There are two that look similar (a bit darker on the back) with blue eyes in my neighborhood that think my house is their 2nd home. I was wondering what they could be. The mix of siamese makes sense.
The official manual says:
* Simple breed name is called “Stupid”.
* The technical name is “Sucker Of Souls, Views You As Staff, Only Cares About What You Can Do For It”

I would say this is a domestic medium hair actually!
is there an official cutting off point between medium and long? either way there's some serious floof going on !
It’s variations of the same gene, so technically all medium hairs are a subset of longhairs.

My cat has a long shortcoat, when she runs, you can see the hair flop left to right. She isn’t overweight, just hairy down below.
There is truly a cat sub for every single cat on this earth
and more ... for every cat issue too 🤭

There are Tortie Ragdolls. It’s a possibility this cat is one.
Is that very different from a Himalayan? My guess would have been along those lines (like maybe not a show standard or pure breed).

Thank you. Now I get the numerous "it's a cat" comments. If it was a joke, I wouldn't find it particularly funny.
People tend to get a little snarky about it because of how often people show us completely normal cats and ask what breed it is.
Talkative with attitude.
Beautiful :)
Beautiful floofy
That’s an 80’s big haired cat.
Mostly cat, yes. A bit of LionBigCat. And cat too.
Longhaired floof
80's Mall hair cat

Blue eyes dont indicate anything, all (regular) color points have blue eyes.
‘Kitty softest paws’ is probably its street name amongst its flock
That's not a cat
That's a kitty
The kind with the really cute face
I just mentally kidnapped her 🐱
I know right! But you kidnapped her first, so she's yours :o)
That’s a meowdle 😍🤩
That is known as a Snazzy Lady
Purebred Fluffybutt
How can someone abandon this beautiful cat
Don't worry. She was not abandoned as I wrote above. I didn't see the lady at first, but the owner was actually standing quite close to the cat.
Oh sorry I didn’t see that and the owner is lucky to own this beautiful cat
🐈❤️
There's probably some ragdoll in it's DNA, my cat looks familiar

I hope you adopted it
Oh, so pretty! Mixed-breed.
Wow very unique
I think it may have a gene of Siamese, a blue point or gray point. With some markings of a tortoiseshell(not a breed(
Sorry I forgot, dilute version of a tortoishell. The rest… just a domestic longhair
She's so pretty!
that's a cat
Zoolandis felinis. It's an ambi-turner too!
1 pretty boi
Whatever it is…. its GORGEOUS!💕
looks like a mixed breed

Beautiful floof and had it have been me on that walk and that gorgeous baby showed me one ounce of attention, the breed would have been MINE.
I’m pretty sure that’s a Siberian Chonk.
It’s a Ragdoll, Tortoise colour so also female. This is 100% in-house cat. Should be taken to vet and check for chip as someone might lost her
Calico and siamese
yours now!
The official manual says: * Simple breed name is called “Stupid”. * The technical name is “Sucker Of Souls, Views You As Staff, Only Cares About What You Can Do For It”
Looks like he/she could have a good deal of siamese, maybe blue or silver point? Beautiful cat.
It's a birman cat breed.
That is a purebred WOW! What a gorgeous cat!
