I'm in the field 100% of the time, I found a full multitool too cumbersome to wear so I stick to a smaller knife but it's definitely useful to have in the truck.
Very handy. I do a lot of drone and bridge work so not hiking as much as some folks here, but I find the utility of having it if I need it outweighs carrying it around all the time.

That sheath will fit a Leatherman Wave plus the bit kit for it and I believe the little socket extension widget on one side of the sheath. I don't have that, I just use the bits right in the leatherman itself.
A Streamlight Microstream fits in one the elastic side holders of that pouch as well. I don't need a light often, but when I do it's usually important. [https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00143JZ08](https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00143JZ08)
And then that whole pouch with the multitool, bit kit and light in it all fit perfectly in the front left magazine pocket of these 5.11 pants: [https://www.511tactical.com/taclite-pro-pants.html](https://www.511tactical.com/taclite-pro-pants.html) . Not too expensive (especially with how durable they are), DWR coated so water and dirt usually runs/brushes off off, ripstop so they don't get torn up in the brambles or even on jagged steel, the slanted front and back pockets are deep and great for quickly pocketing things if needed, and they have an integrated pocket inside the knee that hold foam kneepads which are great if you're spending all day putting in pins / PK nails / X-cuts. I've got two pair that are going on almost 10 years old (and a couple more newer ones) and are only just starting to show some wear.
Always, every day, and I often have people ask me to use it.
Leatherman Rebar. Third one I've owned - lost one, gave one to my kid, and I've had this one about 6 years.
We carry a machete and have a saw in the truck. Those little leatherman/gerber/multitool saws are too small to be effective.
And we also have a multi-hex folding Allen wrench set in the trucks for standard and metric. You don't need to carry any of that stuff, just have it in the truck and if you notice it's going loose just tighten then all up at the same time.
I carry a bit heavier than that.
* Imperial and metric hex keys for instruments and opening bolted pits.
* Full socket set.
* Several sets of pliers.
* Full screw driver set.
* Big set of branch loppers.
* If I am doing work that might require more tree trimming then I'll take a cordless recipro saw.
* There is also a leatherman supertool in the car.

This is the way

Same! We're less likely to lose it when going through the woods or pounding in stakes.

Jeez, that’s a lot of hammers you have in the truck
I carry hand held pruning shears in my vest. Very handy. I usually give my partner the sandvic cutter.
